Wikileaks’ Russian Representative: A Holocaust Denier

World • Views: 31,967

One of the craziest weirdos LGF has been following for years is a guy named Israel Shamir, a Russian-born bark-at-the-moon antisemite and Holocaust denier who used to write for the Saudi English-language journal Arab News. Here’s an LGF Search page with some of our articles about this noxious psycho.

After the 9/11 attacks, when I was searching the Internet to try to make sense of it all, Israel Shamir’s articles stood out for their sheer hatefulness. This was a person who was possessed by a strange kind of mind-virus, that I still don’t really understand.

Imagine my surprise, then, to discover that Israel Shamir is apparently now an employee of Wikileaks, serving as the group’s content aggregator in Russia.

Good freaking grief.

Here’s a picture posted at Shamir’s ugly hate site, showing him with Assange.

It is worrying enough when journalists, either by accident or design, consort with vulgar figures like Shamir. But it has now been revealed that Israel Shamir, when he is not accusing Assange’s accusers of setting CIA honey traps, works with WikiLeaks in an official capacity.

According to reports in the Swedish and Russian media, the broad strokes of which have been confirmed by a WikiLeaks spokesman, Shamir serves as the group’s content aggregator in Russia, the man who “selects and distributes” the cables to Russian news organizations, according to an investigation by Swedish public radio. In the newspaper Expressen, Magnus Ljunggren, an emeritus professor of Russian literature at Gothenburg University, outlined Shamir’s close ties to WikiLeaks and his position “spreading the documents in Russia.” (The article is illustrated with a picture of Assange and Shamir in an unidentified office.)

During an appearance on Echo Moskvy radio, Yulia Latynina, a reporter at the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, wondered “What does it mean that Assange is allowing himself to be represented by an extremist?” Latynina also found that the Kremlin-friendly paper working with Shamir to promote the WikiLeaks material had already published “outright lies” Shamir claimed were supported by leaks. According to Latynina, Shamir faked a cable related to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech to the United Nations, which supposedly showed collusion amongst those who walked out of the talk in protest. That he would invent such a cable is perhaps unsurprising, considering Shamir has previously written an encomium to the “brave and charismatic leader” of Iran.

And it gets worse, because Wikileaks also employs Shamir’s son, Johannes Wahlström, a chip off the old block:

The Swedish media has identified Shamir’s son, a disgraced journalist named Johannes Wahlström, himself accused of anti-Semitism and falsifying quotes, as a WikiLeaks spokesman in Sweden. Indeed, Wahlström has authored stories based on the WikiLeaks material for the newspaper Aftonbladet and is credited as a producer on a recent Swedish public television documentary about the group.

But while being the son of a famous Holocaust denier is perhaps only suggestive—Wahlström is surely not responsible for his father’s many sins—his celebrations of his father’s work in print and his contributions to Shamir’s website suggest ideological affinity.* Indeed, in 2005 Wahlström wrote a story for the leftist magazine Ordfront arguing that Swedish media, not known for being friendly to the Jewish state, was in fact being manipulated by Jewish interests on behalf of the Israeli government.

Three of the journalists interviewed for the story—Cecilia Uddén, Lotta Schüllerqvist, and Peter Löfgren—claimed that Wahlström falsified quotes, leading the magazine to withdraw the story and issue an apology. Heléne Lööw, a historian of fascism and European neo-Nazism, commented that the Wahlström story contained all the “elements that one would find in a classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.”

A member of Ordfront’s editorial board, writing in the newspaper Dagens Nyheter, lamented that the piece was ever published, citing Wahlström’s “close working relationship with Israel Shamir,” without pointing out just how close the two were.

Wahlström and Shamir, father and son, are the WikiLeaks representatives for two rather large geographic areas. According to Swedish Radio’s investigation, Wahlström is the gatekeeper of the cables in Scandinavia, and “has the power to decide” which newspapers are provided access and what leaks they are allowed to see. (At the time of filing, Wahlström had yet to respond to an email request for comment.)

In the context of this news, it’s interesting that un-redacted versions of the Wikileaks cables (with all the names revealed) turned up on Russian websites first.

He repatriated in 1969 and took part as a paratrooper in the 1973 war. He was also a member of the far right party "Moledet" (acc. to Vladimir Bukarsky). For some reason he became anti-Zionist and antisemite, and was baptized somewhen in 2000s. I don't see by what standard he could be primarily identified as a "Russian".

Swedish media, not known for being friendly to the Jewish state,

I've told this tale before...Swedish drinking song: Along comes the steamer, dah dada dah dah daaaah. And now comes the U-boot:

glugglugglug

That's just a joke, OK. But Sweden cut a middle course between Norway fighting, and Finland throwing in with the Germans. The Swedes figured that bidness is bidness and they'd sell iron ore to the only bidder, Germany.

Little countries on the hot seat don't have to be heroes. Switzerland allowed German trains free passage through their Alps tunnels, while also sheltering downed Allied flyers...they broke their neutrality in favor of both sides. But drinking songs reveal a lot.

The more I learn about Assange and wikileaks, the more parallels I start to see with the anarchist movement that grew during the middle to end of the 19th century. And the Russian intel services were up to their eyeballs in the espionage and subterfuge back then too.

And it doesn't surprise me one whit that he's got ties with anti Semites either. There seems to be a lot of that going on around the world too.

Fred Small wrote a song about that--

He was shot into orbit by the Soviet Union,
A nation he was proud to call home.
When he got up there there was nothing left but squabbling republics,
Sergei's trapped in the Twilight Zone.

And did he ever return? No he never returned,
And his fate is still unlearned. (Poor old Sergei.)
He may orbit forever round this crazy mixed-up planet,
He's the cosmonaut who never returned.

re: #7 Sergey Romanov

In quite an ironic twist, Shamir was a pretty staunch Zionist back in the USSR.

Here's what Digital Jewish Encyclopedia has to say:

[Link: www.eleven.co.il...]

The first ulpans appeared in Moscow in 1969-1970. One of the first teachers of Hebrew was M. Palkhan (b.1939; in Israel since 1971), who taught 4 classes. Teachers and students felt the lack of educational literature. The situation got better after I. Shmerler (Shamir, b. 1948, in Israel since 1969) managed to print in the Novosibirsk typography about a 1000 issues of "Elef millim" textbook.

Is it our Shamir? Yes, according to [Link: magazines.russ.ru...] which is an article about the Nobosibirsk Akademgorodok:

I. Shamir - in the past - Izya Shmerler, physics and maths student of Akademgorodok of the first draft, and now radical left-wing Israeli journalist [source cited]

The letter of his father Iosif Shmerler to the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee is quoted in G. Kostyrchenko's Out of the red shadows: anti-semitism in Stalin's Russia, p.104. I have the Russian version, here's my translation:

Last week I sent you a statement requesting to help me to get permission to leave for the army of the state of Israel, which fighting for its independence. I have not received an answer. At a time when the struggle is not for life but for death, when the war is becoming increasingly fierce, when the blood of our brothers and sisters is pouring, when the Arab fascist gangs supported by the Anglo-American imperialism want to strangle, drown in the blood the heroic Jewish people, we Soviet Jews cannot remain silent and sit in anticipation. We should actively help the selfless heroes to reach the victory, and to actively participate - to struggle, to fight shoulder to shoulder with our brothers. This is our sacred duty.

This is the point I've come to myself - great post.

Putin derides the heat placed on Assange - and in Russia today we have some of the highest incidences of reporters being killed in developed nations.

I look to Russia being involved....

119 jaunte  Tue, Dec 14, 2010 7:11:46pm

Here's an old essay by Shamir on guess-who controls the media, and his hopes for taking that control away:

In the far-away 1969, Phillip Roth decided to probe the subconscious of his contemporary American Jew. In the novel, Portnoy’s Complaint, Roth’s hero, Alexander Portnoy, lies on the psychiatrist’s couch and tells of his inner feelings, domineering mother and adolescent sex. What would a modern Portnoy blubber on the newest reclining couch model 2001?

We can find this out by turning towards the press. Philip Weiss in the New York Observer noted that the Jews are to politics and media what the blacks are to basketball. The leading media powerhouses like the New York Times Corporation and the Washington Post are fully kosher, owned by Jews and a substantial majority of the editorials and the op-eds are written by Jews.
...
Whenever the Almighty sends a malaise, says a Jewish wisdom, He sends the cure for it. The cure lies in democracy. The media should be returned to people, taken out of the rich men’s hands.

But if your hatred of her actually causes you to try and minimize Assange's crimes and the danger he poses, you know you've got a severe case of PDS (Palin derangement syndrome), as well as some seriously twisted priorities.

I could care less what Sarah Palin thinks about Wikileaks, or anything political. Who here has formed an opinion about Wikileaks based on Sarah Palin?

It's incredibly revealing to me that Assange is hanging with one of the most insane, actively obsessed antisemites in the world. Shamir is every bit as crazy as a David Duke or a Nick Griffin -- maybe more, because he doesn't even try to hide it.

Well first of all, as the Time cover story pointed out recently, she wasn't always a right winger. it's regrettable how far to the right she's gone, but if you notice it's very rarely on social issues. you'll see her move back to the center after she gets the nomination. at her core she's just someone who fights the entrenched interests. in Alaska it was the oil companies and the republican/murkowski establishment. and she got results, making her the most popular governor in America at the time. Yeah, I don't have a queer litmus test or anything, but seriously she doesn't like gay people. Most of the GOP don't. The judges they nominate don't. Read a Scalia opinion on gay rights sometime, he can't even contain his hatred within legal jargon. For the courts alone I will never vote for a Republican holding national office. Good government is a wide tent. I think we too have a good government. With the taxes more or less where they are now. For our circumstances, that's close to right. We need somewhat higher taxes and substantially lower spending, eventually, so as to pay down the national debt. And then, we need to hold federal spending to something like 20% of the national economy. Cities and states take their own fraction, and it all adds up.

The State sector can only get so big before it starts eating the national economy's seed corn.

I don't know what the tax situation is in Israel. But people will bear heavy taxes without throwing in the towel if there's some national emergency and making money and paying taxes is a point of pride. Here, people don't much aspire to making money solely to be able to pay more taxes.

I can't wait to see what she does in Washington.

She won't be doing anything in Washington, except perhaps posing in front of things for her next book.

I'm not saying that if you dislike Wikileaks you need to support Sarah Palin. But if your hatred of her actually causes you to try and minimize Assange's crimes and the danger he poses, you know you've got a severe case of PDS (Palin derangement syndrome), as well as some seriously twisted priorities.

Broken clocks are right twice a day, even a dim-bulb opportunistic partisan such as Palin. As for the rest of your statement, you're so full of shit, your eyeballs are brown...

This Israel Shamir is a real piece of work. From The Sunday Times April 7, 2005:

Lord Ahmed's unwelcome guest

...On February 23, Lord Ahmed hosted a book launch in the House of Lords for a man going by the name of Israel Shamir. “Israel Shamir” is, in fact, a Swedish-domiciled anti-Semite also known as Jöran Jermas.

The gist of Shamir/Jermas’s speech at the meeting can be gleaned from its title, “Jews and the Empire”. It included observations such as: “All the [political] parties are Zionist-infiltrated.” “Your newspapers belong to Zionists . . . Jews indeed own, control and edit a big share of mass media, this mainstay of Imperial thinking.” “In the Middle East we have just one reason for wars, terror and trouble — and that is Jewish supremacy drive . . . in Iraq, the US and its British dependency continue the same old fight for ensuring Jewish supremacy in the Middle East.” “The Jews like an Empire . . . This love of Empire explains the easiness Jews change their allegiance . . . Simple minds call it ‘treacherous behaviour’, but it is actually love of Empire per se.” “Now, there is a large and thriving Muslim community in England . . . they are now on the side of freedom, against the Empire, and they are not afraid of enforcers of Judaic values, Jewish or Gentile. This community is very important in order to turn the tide.”

Why would Lord Ahmed have hosted such a man in the Lords? It is, of course, possible that Lord Ahmed had no idea that Shamir/Jermas was a rabid anti-Semite. Yet it takes only a quick Google to discover his views and background. He has worked for Zavtra, Russia’s most anti-Semitic publication, and is allied with the Vanguard News Network, set up by an American, Alex Linder — a man so extreme that he was even ostracised by the US neo-Nazi National Alliance.

Indeed, Shamir/Jermas’s own website proudly reprints his views: “Jews asked God to kill, destroy, humiliate, exterminate, defame, starve, impale Christians, to usher in Divine Vengeance and to cover God’s mantle with blood of goyim . . . ” “The Ashkenazi Jews believed that spilled Jewish blood has a magic effect of calling down Divine Vengeance on the heads of the Gentiles . . . The picture of Jews slaughtering children for cultic reasons exerted huge impact on the Christian peoples of Europe.” On and on it goes.

...

Yikes!

I don't think prostitutes are low at all. An honest prostitute beats a dishonest car salesman. I do believe that using the term as an insult is out of line and sexist towards women, but I think prostitution should be legal, regulated, and America should stop pretending it's so puritanical, because it clearly is not, just repressed and neurotic and afraid of sex and afraid of intimacy and afraid of their own bodies.

There's a really great straight stretch of road near, with lots of great cars, and some decent drivers. Got to watch & listen to an Aston & a Bentley flooring it uphill off a stoplight last Sunday. It's about 5 miles, uphill, with 2 stoplights,
Funny to hear the bad drivers muff their gear shifts. ;)
Unincorporated county road, so rarely any cops. Great drive on a Sunday.

The Sunday warriors rumble out of my suburban subdivision around 1:00PM on Sundays and rumble back home by sunset. We have around 45 mile straight East West highway by our house. Also lots of pretty, rural off roads.

re: #227 parkerCT

Well first of all, as the Time cover story pointed out recently, she wasn't always a right winger. it's regrettable how far to the right she's gone, but if you notice it's very rarely on social issues. you'll see her move back to the center after she gets the nomination. at her core she's just someone who fights the entrenched interests. in Alaska it was the oil companies and the republican/murkowski establishment. and she got results, making her the most popular governor in America at the time. I can't wait to see what she does in Washington.

Palin is an out and out liar. When Willow's "faggot" rant went viral, Sarah falsely claimed thus, "Willow, finally, my 16 year old, she had had it up to here with somebody saying very, very hateful things about the family and saying mean things about her little brother Trig."

Only Trig was never mentioned, and neither was the Palin family, some kid panned her show on Facebook and Willow let her hateful, homophobic flag fly. Sarah wasn't confused about this, she's just a rank, godawful lying little two faced shit.

You can like Palin and not get hammered on LGF, just so long as you make rational arguments for why you like her.

For example, maybe you the CEO of an oil company and Mrs. Palin has done much to increase your profits...

My college experience was spent doing two things: sleeping, and making art. I didn't go out, i didn't engage in politics, I didn't drink, I didn't smoke up, i didn't talk to a lot of people. I went to some concerts. That's about it. I didn't have time for politics. I worked 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, slept the rest. if I wasn't in class making art, I was at home making art. if I wasn't at home making art, I was at my health care job putting ramen on the table ;-)

Agency decides it can't afford to stay in S.F.

After almost 100 years, the State Compensation Insurance Fund is pulling 755 of its 830 jobs out of town, having determined that San Francisco is just too expensive - and its workforce too dumb - for the agency to continue doing most of its business here.

Workers called to a recent meeting at the Herbst Theatre were told that 293 jobs will move to Pleasanton, 422 to Vacaville and 40 to Sacramento, with 75 employees remaining in the city.

...The fund, which handles workers' compensation, is a quasi-government agency - its workers are civil servants and it is overseen by a state-appointed board of directors. Its headquarters have been in San Francisco since 1913.

This is very important to remember. In the founding of this nation, we made it extreamly difficult to call anyone a traitor. There are very specific rules for what is treason in this nation because it was so insanely abused in our mother nation. I would willing argue that 75% of what we think of as American values is simply us reacting against the things our ancestors let happen to them back home on the british isles.

He is not right. But his is not a traitor either.

This is a stupid thing to waste any time on. But city councils all over waste money on the stupidest shit all the time. I am not even surprised. Berkeley just happened to choose a sexy subject. My hometown has spent multiple meetings discussing whether or not to merge the football teams of the two high schools in the town. Many meetings, much time and money. It is probably why I don't find local government to be so much more effective than state or national government. Turns out, people like to talk.

Hostage situation at Florida school board meeting

*Update* Man killed after taking hostages, shooting at Bay County School Board meeting

Panama City - While NewsChannel 7 cameras rolled, a man used a pistol to take hostages at Tuesday's Bay County School Board meeting in the Nelson building off Balboa Avenue in Panama City.

Starting a little after 2 p.m., a 56-year-old man, identified as Clay Duke, addressed the school board briefly, talking about his wife being fired, before using a can of red spray paint to paint a large "V" with a circle around it on the wall of the building. Duke then pulled out a small caliber, semi-automatic handgun, and released the women and children from the room, taking the others hostage.

Tensions built while Duke questioned the school board, and told the group that "Somebody is going to die today."

WJHG's video footage shows Duke as he began firing, and SWAT teams responded and burst in.

School Board Superintendent Bill Husfelt says that the gunman had "almost a smile" on his face, and seemed determined that he was going to die.

Duke fired several shots with a small caliber pistol at school board members, and then traded shots with Mike Jones, security for the Bay County School District. Mike Jones is a retired Detective with the Panama City Police force, a man who Husfelt calls "a hero." In all, between 15 and 20 shots were fired, though police now say Duke died from a gunshot from his own gun.

We went to San Fran last Summer on a family vacation. Nice place. You can't help but see that the local economy is heavily supported by tourism. And those tourists are there to see the city and the surrounding area, not many tourists give a crap that the local politicians are wastimg time debating whether pet stores violate animal rights and should be banned or whether military recruiters should be banned. They just spend cash and pump up the local economy being tourists.

If San Fran wasn't such a draw where the biggest challenge was how to divvy up all the cash rolling in, then the politicians there might actually be forced into being adults. My impression from the visit is that the leaders there are like roosters who think the sun rises because they crow. They could all quit and all new people could take over and the tourists wouldn't care one bit and they would still flock there to spend their cash and feed the tax rolls. It didn't look like crazy talk to me. Maybe it was an odd transition. I'll be honest with you having lived in SF I used to consider it vastly different than Berkeley. Most of the people I met in SF were from New Jersey. The trashiest racist I ever encountered was from SF. And vice versa. People in SF would also trash the East Bay quite often -- especially the hip folks. And trashing Los Angeles was a religion. Then you go out to the Avenue and it's a different world.

You know that San Francisco used to be a destination for vagrants. What the used to do in the "old days" was the cops would give the vagrants a one-way ticket to the nearest city. Kicking them out would be the reverse of that. Obviously, any city is a natural draw to vagrants since it improves your potential not only for pan handling but assistance.

The art scene and the music scene in Sf are magnificent, and the idea that Sfers are stupid makes me giggle, considering how much of our tech brain trust is there. Hell, my employers for my game gig are there.

for all I know, I might not have ended up such a fan of metal were it not for the Bay area thrash scene. For a while in jr. high, it seemed all I listened to was bay area metal bands.

The visit also confirmed another old adage that you always get more of whatever you subsisize because I have never seen so many homeless panhandlers in my life than I did in San Fran. Its a regular cottage industry there.

I didn't say people here treated California like a scared cow. Occasionally it drifts into the common memes. But my point is that even if it does it's not unlike we're not harping on the South here either. And yes, people will complain about that too. And if you want the honest truth I've even done that myself and made references to rednecks, yokels and hicks. So yes, I'm guilty of slandering the South.

Though actually, my neighbor who was a lesbian growing up, used to live in Maryland with her kids, and she was gaybashed at PTA meetings, called all kinds of nasty names, rumors, had her license plate number written down, was stalked by anti-gay wackos, that sucked. There are many here, yet nowhere near as many as up in SF or even LA, from what I've heard.

Besides the lack of snow, on thing all California coastal metropolises have in common is a strong sense of transience throughout the population. People come and go here all the time. Where I grew up (not in California) the community was made up of mostly people who had been born locally. Not true in San Diego, where most of the people I have known here were born elsewhere.

That's about it. Long hours of looking at nothingness while driving. Didn't they take away the speed limit there? It's supposed to be like the Autobahn except without the curves.

ahahaha someone must have just taken my only-for-LGF gmail address that my nick links to and subscribed me to the Family Research Council's email list

well done I actually loled when i figured out what had happened, I'm leaving myself subscribed because this is a riot:

n less than 24 hours, the Hill is expecting a full-scale assault on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the military policy that bans open homosexuality. According to insiders, liberals are making the final preparations on--not one, but two bills--they plan to move simultaneously through the House and Senate. Unlike the past attempts, this would be a vote on repeal--and repeal alone. With a freestanding bill, the Left can liberate the debate of all the issues that complicated the Defense Authorization legislation, like taxpayer-funded abortion. Although neither leadership office is confirming the timetable, Politico talked to one source that hinted the attack is well underway. Reps. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.) have already finalized some language that the House could rush through "as a privileged resolution." Meanwhile, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is paving the way in the Senate by filing a motion today that would bypass the typical committee process. This means the Democrats are prioritizing the issue over raises for the military, funding for counter terrorism programs, and the tax hikes looming for every American.

That's even more stunning considering General James Amos's latest warning. The head of the Marine Corps told reporters today that a change in the policy could result in casualties. "When your life hangs on the line, you don't want anything distracting... Mistakes and inattention or distractions cost Marines' lives." Still, when pressed about the agenda, Pelosi's office played dumb. "As we come to the end of the session, all options to repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' are now on the table." This is an all hands on deck moment. It's absolutely critical that you take a few minutes on Wednesday morning to call your congressman and both senators--particularly if your leader is on this list: Sens. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), Ben Nelson (D-Nebr.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), George Voinovich (R-Ohio), and Jim Webb (D-Va.). Do it for our troops. And, more importantly, do it for America.

HAHAHAHA YEAH! DO IT FOR OUR TROOPS! DO IT FOR AMURIKA! Imagine the sort of cow-eyed dullard this works on :D

re: #337 sizzleRI

What does being even lower than prostitutes mean? Prostitutes encompass a large group of both men and women. The fact that they are prostitutes has nothing to do with their moral, ethical, or human value. That is what I took from James' page.

Prostitute isn't that good a job, especially when precautions aren't taken: people who knowingly act in ways that are likely to spread deadly communicable diseases are doing something that's seriously unethical.

Pimps are waaaay lower than the class of prostitute I complain of in the previous paragraph, and they're angels compared to the worst actors in the business: those who kidnap and enslave girls to run them as prostitutes.

Johns who take their trade to prostitutes they have reason to believe are slaves, are lower than the worst prostitutes.

Slavery is a great evil, and like many evils, it is persistent and resilient. It lives on, even today, even in civilized nations where, on the books, it's illegal.

This argument makes me wonder if the Marines in question couldn't be by the same reasoning be plenty distracted right now, wondering who in their unit is gay and hasn't told.

Nebraska is just like Kansas, only more so.

Highest Point.

But now that we're done with the good clean fun, they're both good states to live in. naep 8 grade math state by state, reading, crime. State by state comparisons are easy from these links and while NE is not the Shire, it does better than average with respect to education and crime.

That's why I brought up New Jersey. Everyone still thinks that New Jersey is one giant chemical plant with mobsters everywhere.

best place we ever lived is South Jersey. loved the food and people. picking blueberries, peaches, nectarines, great silver queen corn on ice in trucks by the road, easiest place to grow garden, etc

loved it

These are the kinds of people that mindless lefties like Michael Moore and the city of Berkeley are reflexively supporting. They bend so far left that they wind up shaking hands with the people who bend far right. There's no thinking, no reflecting, just dumbly forging ahead, uncaring of consequences. There's not even "shoot first and ask questions later"--there's no asking questions later. Just shoot, shoot, shoot. And people like this are amassing more power and influence every day.

Assange is a red herring. Some of the people behind wikileaks are already abandoning Assange and starting their own thing called Openleaks. To compete! See how that worked? The idea saw its creator or chief advocate as a threat. Interesting stuff! Like ideas themselves, fighting. And ya know, Openleaks may also in fact be shot through with anti-semites. But the idea of this is a lot bigger than 'this guy associates with anti semites" There seems to just be a furious will on the part of a lot of angry people through out the world, that revealing secrets will in the abstract make the world better. I don't really agree, but it's not a thing that can be stopped on the internet. It is a symptom OF the internet itself.
