Beautiful video. Loved it. My family walked the trails in Muir Woods outside San Francisco last Summer and the scenery of majestic Redwoods towering to the sky looks just like the forest shown in the video. But there is something about actually standing there among those trees to make you really get a sense of how awesome they are. Not sure you can get that from any movie.

I guess it is all about perspective.

Imagine them letting someone do that to a redwood now.

Hopefully, they wouldn’t.

Read something about the trees being brittle and so large and heavy that upon hitting the ground they kind of “shatter”.

Redwoods and Climate Change Initiative

The redwoods — Earth’s ancient giants — stand at a new crossroads of environmental change where urbanization, habitat fragmentation, pollution, invasive species and climatic changes threaten them in ways they have not yet experienced in their long history on Earth.

Now, throughout the current redwood range, we are experiencing temperature increases, less coastal fog, reductions in snowpack and earlier snowmelt.

Better take high-quality video of them now, before they’re gone for good :/

The mountain sequoia do tend to shatter when they fall. That is one of the reasons they were not logged. (per what the National Park Ranger said way back in the late 40’s when as a little boy my parents would take me camping in Sequoia National Park). The coast redwood is the one for lumber.

Put ‘em in a tree museum

I know that was snark, but I actually think that Taitz has more followers than Farrakhan has or has ever had.

Just as a side note, I never thought that in 2010 people would be more comfortable expressing bigotry and being around bigots than they were just two years ago. It’s really quite amazing and I no longer feel confident that it’s just a temporary thing that will last a couple of election cycles. These kinds of backlashes to social changes can last for decades.

With the Falcons having quickly put their game with Carolina in the bag, the Saints had no incentive to give the 110% needed to win. Neither did the Chicago Bears. Both teams decided to dial their effort level down to 90% and make sure they stayed healthy for the playoffs. It’s not fun to see, but it was the right decision.

they still are not nearly as good as the Bears or Packers, but they were better than ever before and really did become a team you had play hard to get past. Gone were the losers of old. Now the question becomes how Detroit will react to their football team’s improvement.

Not likely. The Bears will upgrade their offensive line and will be even better next year. Their offense is already better than any year since 1985, and the 2010 Bears have a much better passing game than the 1985 Bears did. I think that the Lions may reach the level of the current bears team in the next year or two, by by then the Bears will have gotten even better.
