‘Allahpundit’ Complains About ‘Blasphemous’ Doritos Ad
At right wing blog Hot Air, Allahpundit complains about a “blasphemous” advertisement for Doritos. (Yes, really.)
Even to an ex-Catholic like me, it feels cheap. Blasphemy in defense of principle, like free speech, is welcome; blasphemy in the service of humor can be fun. Blasphemy to sell bags of Cool Ranch chips? Eh.
Even to an ex-Catholic like yours truly, it’s insanely ironic to see someone who uses the name “Allahpundit” whining about “blasphemy.”

The shrieking harpy’s take on the outrageously outrageous Doritos Corn Chips advertisement is a hoot:
PEPSI, TAKE THE JIHAD CHALLENGE! - Atlas Shrugs
Funny? Not. Insulting to Catholics? Totally. In a free country, these demeaning cheap shots are to be expected, but I dare Pepsi to mock Islam.
I dare Pepsi to give the same treatment to Imams. I dare Pepsi to mock the Islamic flock. I dare Pepsi not to crap their pants and put the safety of the Superbowl in jeopardy and insult Islam.
Assclowns. And they pay millions to Madison Avenue maroons. If Pepsi airs this, demand Catholic sensitivity training. Demand apologies. Demand contributions to groups that advance Christianity.
But certainly do not drink Pepsi or eat those damn chips.

After a review of more than 5,600 creative submissions, their entry — a clever and well produced spot entitled “Feed Your Flock” — did not make the final cut.

“We certainly did not set out to offend anyone,” said Williams. “In fact, we purposely filmed it in a non-denominational church with no tabernacle, used no vestments or other religious symbols, and populated the lines with people of all faiths. And the sign on the lawn at the end of the spot serves as the punch line — Free Doritos and Pepsi MAX Sunday.”
