Republicans’ Tea Party Stunt Interrupted by Tea Party Birther

Wingnuts • Views: 21,061

A perfectly symbolic incident today in the House of Representatives, as the Republicans’ cheap stunt of reading the Constitution is interrupted by one of the people for whom they’re staging the stunt — a fanatic Birther: Birther Interrupts House Reading Of Constitution, Yells ‘Help Us Jesus’.

I can bet this was rehearsed and well thought out by the GOP ahead of time. I can bet that you will find this person was given special access to the gallery and probably brought to the House in a limo supplied by Boehner. Expect more of these empty stunts from the GOP in the future.

I don't think the Tea Party types are going to be happy unless the GOP tries to impeach Obama.

Which would mean President Biden.

Oy.

I was wondering when the birthers would make their presence known and it didn't take long at all. If the GOP thinks they can stuff all of the nuts and loons that they encouraged to attain this majority back into the attic, they are wrong. I seriously think no matter what the Republicans do, the TPers will always have yet another demand to make. As obstinate as the Republicans appear to be about compromise, the Tea Partiers will make them look like amateurs.

The GOP made their bed, and the result will be a series of 'debts' that the TPers will want to collect. Boehner may be the one asking for Jesus' help before this is all over.

I know what you mean. With in a week after the last election, there was a article detailing the complete downturn in anti-psychotic drug sales among conservatives. At the time, no one could quite come up with a plausible answer to the cause and effect.

They figured it would go faster if people who were literate and already had a passing familiarity with the Constitution participated. Hi all. I am considering starting a movement, which I will call the "True Birther" movement. This group will advocate a strict originalist interpretation of Article II of the US Constitution, as ratified in 1789. I will be particularly focused on Section 1:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President./blockquote>

Our platform will demand that nobody born prior to 1754 (35 years of age at the time, in accordance with Article II, Section 1) should be eligible to stand for election as President of the USA. Anybody opposed to this position, which clearly and literally reflects the will of the founding fathers and the ratifying Congress, will be stamped a dangerous progressive insurgent, and a potential threat to our national security.

Alternately, I am considering pushing for a re-instatement of the Articles of Confederation as the true, original Constitution (ratified in 1781). The problem with that is, I would have to actually read them first.. Ah what the heck. 90% of the folks in Congress have never read the 1789 Constitution. Why should I be the first?

Why stop there. Let's just dig up the original royal charters.

We make fun of the Republicans performing this symbolic act of reading the constitution on day two of their reign in the US House. Yet lets all recall that President Obama signed an executive order "to close Guantanamo bay within one year" on his second day in office.

That took, what, a minute or so to do?
How about this? How much time is this wasting?
Yeah...

Before I read the article I was afraid the outburst came from the House floor

Earlier this year, one of my sixth graders pointed at one of her classmates and screamed "You liar!"

I told her that sort of thing was only acceptable in Congress. She didn't get it, of course, so I had to go on making peace between them.

Eventually, the adult Republicans, otherwise known as the RINOs of the world, are gonna have to put their collective foot down.

re: #21 Ericus58

If this is a Tea Party Republican stunt, why are Democrats participating in the reading?
Has the reading of the U.S. Constitution at the opening of a New Congressional session occurred before?

Two possibilities:

1. The Democrats, like me, think it's a rather cool idea, even if it originated with the People of the Tea, and has some weird ideological issues attached to it.

2. The Democrats are aware that NOT participating in a public reading of the Constitution would look pretty bad.

One can only hope, although all indications point to the RINOs having headed for the tall grass a long time ago.

I've never, ever seen a political movement that bases their every action on what appears to be some kind of political nihilism. I remain stunned that such a movement has taken hold in this country.

I don't think the Tea Party types are going to be happy unless the GOP tries to impeach Obama.

It's much worse than that with some of them. From Politico's comment section for this story:

[Link: www.politico.com...]

Consider what is really implied about Obama's ineligibility and the cover up by those in the federal government, the main-stream media and the two major political parties. The cut-to-the-chase conclusion underlying this whole ordeal is that the United States government is completely and utterly illegitimate and reeks of bad faith and intent. Any other conclusion is very difficult to believe, using logic and reason. The longer it takes for that day to arrive, the more dangerous the situation will become. A man not even qualified to hold the office is using that office to destroy the greatest nation on earth. How much patience can the people be expected to display? Obama is not eligible for the office he currently holds and everyone in a position to know - already know. What they don’t know is how much longer they can keep it all a secret, or what will happen next.

God forbid. I know a lot of people have been worried about his safety from the beginning, mostly people old enough to remember the late sixties.

When he was first elected, I was working at a Catholic high school. When we did special intentions, the kids would pray for Obama, and it was clear that at home, their grandparents were worried about an assassination attempt.

That's what worries me. All it takes is just a couple of really motivated nutjobs to do a whole lot of damage. See the OKC bombing, for example.

All the "by any means necessary" and "Second Amendment solution" rhetoric from these loons is scary. They legitimately believe he's a threat to American sovereignty and that he's not an American. Someone that unhinged would be pretty motivated should he get re-elected in 2012.

Those poor guys must be so overworked at this point. I used to have a link that talked about death threats to Obama increasing by about 400% over those to Bush.

That we even need to discuss this as a real possibility makes me sad for what this country has become.

Well yeah. There are loons who go after every POTUS regardless of politics. I just don't think I've ever seen this level of open contempt in my lifetime. Even Clinton didn't get this level of hate, and the GOP went after him with a vengeance.

I hope it doesn't come to any kind of violence, but with all the hellfire and brimstone rhetoric on the right, it's hard to be sure, you know?

Bush and Clinton were White. The intensity that the Right Wing Media has put on Obama is well beyond anything we have seen in this country since the 1960s. The GOP happily caters to these people because of political gain. Fox News promotes a lie that the President is Muslim and not born in this country for ratings gain. It is a win-win for the GOP and the lose-lose for the country as a whole.

If you listen closely to Rush Limbaugh, he does not have a political show. It is a racial show. Sure, he is great at walking the line to protect himself from blantant racism but it is there in full force. Limbaugh is the leader of the Republican Party and he promotes this whole birther thing.
