Third Incendiary Package at DC Postal Facility

US News • Views: 32,983

There was a third “igniting package” at a Washington DC postal facility today…

The Maryland packages contained a note railing against highway signs urging motorists to report suspicious activity, investigators revealed.

The message read: “Report suspicious activity! Total Bull——! You have created a self fulfilling prophecy.”

Richard J. Wolf, a spokesman for the FBI in Baltimore, confirmed the D.C. parcel was similiar to the Maryland packages, but he did not know who the D.C. package was addressed to or whether it included a note.

Of course it's a tea party person... it couldn't be anyone else. Just the other day, we had a crossing guard who was assaulted by an angry driver who was late for work... the driver... a tea party person of course. No one had any proof of this, but we all know better (wink, wink, snicker, snicker).

Same here... tea party person for sure.

Still, I await all of the mental and verbal gymnastics that will surely emerge when whoever is doing this is found out. 77 lawhawk  Fri, Jan 7, 2011 3:00:20pm

I don't know who is behind this, but the third device may give some indication over origin - where the device was mailed/transferred before reaching the MD state offices. That will help law enforcement ultimately track the guy (and it's invariably a guy) down.

Now, what exactly is the guy's motivations?

Maybe it's someone who decided to take his frustration out from being stuck in traffic and seeing those variable signs in a Falling Down kind of way.

Maybe it's a disgruntled former transportation department worker.

Until the guy is caught, we just wont know the motivations behind the attacks.

The person who did this is obviously someone who thinks government is overbearing, overreaching, and coercive.

The Tea Party contains a lot of people who fit that mold.

It's really not in the least bit wild speculation to say that this guy may very well have been a Tea Party type.

No more it is than, when a synagogue is bombed, speculate that the person doing it may be a Neo-Nazi or an extremist Muslim, rather than, say, a radical atheist.

Terrorized by 'War on Terror'
How a Three-Word Mantra Has Undermined America

By Zbigniew Brzezinski
Sunday, March 25, 2007

To justify the "war on terror," the administration has lately crafted a false historical narrative that could even become a self-fulfilling prophecy. By claiming that its war is similar to earlier U.S. struggles against Nazism and then Stalinism (while ignoring the fact that both Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia were first-rate military powers, a status al-Qaeda neither has nor can achieve), the administration could be preparing the case for war with Iran. Such war would then plunge America into a protracted conflict spanning Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and perhaps also Pakistan.
...
Government at every level has stimulated the paranoia. Consider, for example, the electronic billboards over interstate highways urging motorists to "Report Suspicious Activity" (drivers in turbans?). Some mass media have made their own contribution. The cable channels and some print media have found that horror scenarios attract audiences, while terror "experts" as "consultants" provide authenticity for the apocalyptic visions fed to the American public. Hence the proliferation of programs with bearded "terrorists" as the central villains. Their general effect is to reinforce the sense of the unknown but lurking danger that is said to increasingly threaten the lives of all Americans.

Thanks for the link. It really struck a chord.

I live in the DC area, and every time I drive the Beltway I have to go under a pixellated sign reminding me to "Report Suspicious Activity", i.e., "Deounce Your Neighbors". Another sign of the madness: One of the local NPR stations (all of which have taken serious dives in quality over the last several years) now runs an evening program called something like, "What's New in Homeland Security". It's like an infomercial for fear-mongering. And now the Smithsonian museums are all getting swathed in "security" gadgetry....

Golly, maybe if we didn't go out of our way telling big chunks of the world how to live, we wouldn't have to worry so much about "security"?

I wonder if folks out in the provinces have any clue about what a goldmine this "Homeland Security" bullshit is? (Not that their opinions are especially wanted, here.) Anyway, taxpayers,SAIC and Lockheed Martin and Blackwater and Booz-Allen doing really, really well -- so fuck you very much!
