Shooting Suspect’s Family Blockades House

azcentral.com reports that the family of Jared Lee Loughner has blockaded their house with 4-by-4 double-thick plywood.

FBI agents working on the Gabrielle Giffords shooting encountered trouble gaining entry to the suspect’s family home Monday morning.

Family members of Jared Loughner apparently had put on 4-by-4 double-thick plywood that blocked access to the front porch of their north Tucson home.

At about 12:25 p.m., agents began banging on the blockade, yelling, “This is the FBI. Let us in.”

Some agents were sent behind the house, and they were able to get inside after talking to family members.

According to the report it appears that some number of reporters might have crossed the line and trespassed, which could explain why the family boarded things up, but the family blocking access to law enforcement is a spectacularly bad idea.

I got hit with $2,000 in iTunes charges a couple of months ago...BofA took care of the temporary credit immediately, and just two weeks ago confirmed the reversal was permanent.

A trio of robbers picked the wrong target in Liberty City on Monday.

A suspect was shot in the leg and two are on the loose after the would-be robbers tried to jack a group of surveyors packing heat.

According to Miami Police, the robbers had targeted a survey crew working in the area near Northwest 15th Ave. and 65th Street near a Habitat for Humanity housing project.

On first glance, attacking a group working on a volunteer organization's project might seem like a safe target, but looks can be deceiving. The crew was actually subcontracted by the City of Miami and are not affiliated with Habitat for Humanity, new CEO Mario Artecona said.

The suspects didn't realize that one of the members of the survey crew was armed and as the thieves tried to make off with some survey equipment, that's when the bullets started flying

The two sides exchange between 14 and 16 shots, witnesses said, and one suspect was shot in the leg.

The wounded suspect was found a short time later on 65th Street, and police were able to recover the equipment. The other two suspects got away and are at-large, police said.

Communications, business, and everything else are completely different now than they were even a decade ago, and some simply cannot handle the change. They're drawn to images and rhetoric that casts them as the real patriots, fighting the good fight against all the evils in the world.

It's an overall culture of fear and anger. Sure, we're a free society and don't live like the Burmese or North Koreans, but to pretend that we're immune to fear is ridiculous. Our culture is soaked in it.

I built bench once, and I figured a 2x4 was - 2 inches by 4 inches, and so I planned accordingly.

Only the boards were 1.5 x 3.5, and so my bench was okay, but not exactly like I wanted it.

Friend of mine once volunteered to help organize a bridal shower. She and the groom's sister, who she didn't know beforehand, were working on it together. Sister was having problems--not returning calls, very disconnected and weird when they did speak.

Friend finally called the groom, and asked, 'Dude, what's up?'

He said, "Oh, yeah, maybe I should have told you. She just got diagnosed with schizophrenia. We're so used to thinking she screws stuff up because she's just a flake, but they say now there's actually a reason for it."

After my friend got over her horror at how the family seemed to be handling this woman's illness, things went fine.

Sometimes reporters just don't know what things are called. You see it sometimes in reporting that involves guns--they're trying, but they just don't know what they're looking at.

It will be interesting to see in the coming days what this guys mental status was, and how his family dealt with him. In my line of work I constantly deal with families that have a family member that is unstable, the frustration you see is heart wrenching,

They call us (Fire Dept) and want us to forcibly remove them to the hospital so they can get them back on meds. We can't do that, the laws make it so even if you know someone needs help, they cant be forced to accept it, unless they are a danger to themselves.

Having a family member that is of age, and mentally unstable is a nightmare.
