I was a little surprised when Geraldo’s fake videos didn’t attract more mainstream attention. Getting caught faking news stories used to be a big deal. Jay Leno and John Stewart were the only ones to even notice but I suppose that’s an indication of how far Fox has fallen. Everybody just assumes whatever happens on Fox is fake.

Geraldo was born on the 4th of July, so he probably thinks all the celebrations and fireworks are for him. He will be 68 years old this Independence Day, btw. He may look pretty good, with Cthulhu knows what kind of techno-cosmetic assistance, but this circus act of his is either taking a hell of a toll on him or it’s fabricated throughout.

I suppose there are a couple factors. Fact checking Fox News would be a fulltime job. Even Media Matters doesn’t cover a fraction of the bogus crap they spew all day everyday. Also I suppose the lefties in the MSM are content to let Fox continue to discredit conservatives and Republicans.

I have done that little circular dance he did when they first started firing. But only because I was at a new bar and I was looking for the bathroom.

As another old fart who has been in a combat zone recently, I can offer Geraldo some advice: When you’re taking fire from down the road, it is not a good idea to stand in the middle of the self-same road. If you must stand in the road for some stupid reason, at least do it on the side of your vehicle opposite the direction the bullets are coming from.

I am sure CNN’s correspondent Nic Robertson will have something to say about this once he sees it.

I think there’s just too much of it. It would take hours to sort through 15 minutes of the Glenn Beck show and debunk all of it. Also, Fox Doesn’t care. I find it really spooky that Republicans are basing so much of their legislative agenda on lie. This Geraldo video is an obvious fake but at least Republicans aren’t basing an agenda on it. There is nothing in the Geneva Conventions that prevents PoWs from being tried for actual crimes, though they can’t be extradited to third countries.
The latter provision was last invoked during the Falkland Islands war of 1982. The British forces captured at least one Argentine officer who had been named in a European human rights indictment for actions during the “Dirty War” period. The British had no choice but to repatriate him with the other PoWs at the end of the conflict however.
