Limbaugh: Obama’s Base is ‘Walking Human Debris’

Talk radio as hate medium
Wingnuts • Views: 30,142

Rush Limbaugh is having to compete with the Tea Party base these days, and he’s getting even more deranged and hateful, which I wouldn’t have thought possible. Today’s ugly rant: Obama’s Base Are ‘Walking Human Debris’ Who Get ‘Orgasm’ From ‘Savag[ing] Us’ Since They ‘Can’t Find Willing Mates’.

“Human debris” — isn’t that lovely? Limbaugh is now using language indistinguishable from that of the white supremacist far right.

That's kind of more deranged than usual for him, no?

It's pretty obscene.

What could that possibly be? He says any damn thing that pops into his head, and his followers go on following.

8 Ming  Thu, Apr 14, 2011 11:40:01am

This is obvious, but it's easy (for me) to forget that there are many, many people, who are otherwise perfectly decent people, who aren't especially knowledgeable about politics, or don't keep up with the news, or aren't real sharp or critical thinkers, and these people are really affected by the hatred that's spewed by the likes of Rush Limbaugh. I live in Arizona, and I'm always amazed at how many people honestly believe that Obama is The Enemy, that he hates the United States, and that he's trying to destroy the free world.

9 iossarian  Thu, Apr 14, 2011 11:40:18am

re: #6 Alouette

What Helen Thomas said was wrong, but to compare it to the garbage coming from Rush is a bit of a stretch I think.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Thomas had opined that Israelis were "walking human debris"?

10 Obdicut  Thu, Apr 14, 2011 11:40:44am

re: #6 Alouette

Yeah. I mean, Obama's base, as a Democrat, very obviously is more minority-heavy than the GOP base. So... yeah, this treads familiar white supremacist ground.

11 General Nimrod Bodfish  Thu, Apr 14, 2011 11:41:05am

re: #6 Alouette

That would actually imply that the Right has standards. If they haven't already ripped into Rush for his past racists utterances, then what makes you think that they'll rip into him after future utterances worse than this (and it will happen)?

I'm part of Obama's base, and I've never had trouble finding a "willing mate," at least after age 16. Perish the thought of delving too deeply into Rush's psyche here, but there's a lot projection going on, methinks. And if he thinks I'm walking human debris, that's a badge of honor.

Exactly. It smacks of homo-erotic and black males raping white women types of imagery, and that is what you are supposed to think of when you hear it. The debris thing is really weird, since my first connection with the word is the tsunami debris in Japan. I wonder it that is calculated as well.

As much risk as there was in the house GOP threatening to shutdown the government over the budget, there's got to be far far more for the senate GOP actively filibustering a vote on the debt ceiling. I mean...is there any possible result (however slim) that will reflect well on them with the general public?

Of course, if DeMint wants a Waterloo, I'm inclined to give it to him gleefully.

If Boehner wanted to go down in history as an effective Speaker, he'd form a coalition with moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats and move only moderate legislation through the house for the next two years. The Senate would probably pass most of the bills they got, and the President would sign them. Teabaggers would scream foul and nobody would care...they'd all get replaced in 18 months anyway.

Well, that'll make McConnell's jowels shudder in anger. He's been pushing for the Republicans to let the Democrats pass the debt ceiling without Republican votes. DeMint forces at least 7 Republicans to caucus with the Dems (bipartisanship) in order to protect America from defaulting.

Maybe...unless there are more moderates than wingnuts. And I suspect that, at the end of the day, there are. It would only take about a week or two of media time to marginalize the nutters to the point where everyone else in that party decided it was time to get back to reality and act like elected officials instead of media fodder.

Well you're right that such a movement would be a big plus for Boehner personally (assuming he would be safe from a primary challenge--I have no idea what his district is like), but I'm not convinced there are more house Republicans who would favor such a strategy than not.

It would also ensure a formal 2012 split between the GOP and Tea Party.

In the novel, Galt is the son of an Ohio garage mechanic, who leaves home at age twelve and begins college at Patrick Henry University at age sixteen. There he meets Francisco d'Anconia and Ragnar Danneskjöld, who become his two closest friends. Galt takes a double major in physics and philosophy, and after graduating, he becomes an engineer at the Twentieth Century Motor Company, where he designs a revolutionary new motor powered by ambient static electricity. When the company owners decide to run the factory by the collectivist maxim, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need," Galt refuses to work there any longer and abandons his motor. These events all occur before the novel begins, but are described by the characters.

During the main storyline of the book, Galt has secretly organized a strike by the world's creative leaders, including inventors, artists and businessmen, in an effort to "stop the motor of the world" and bring about the collapse of the collectivist society.

in reality, nothing could be further from the minds of any company owners than collectivizing their busineses, engineers are not geniuses who would cause the collapse of companies that they abandoned, but merely employees who would be replaced by eager beavers fresh out of mit or stanford, and john galt trying to organize a general strike would, it hardly needs to be stated, be condemned universally by republicans as a communist every bit as bad as any public high school teacher

With only human debris left to vote for him, it's looking bleak for Obama. Fox is reporting today that Rick Santorum "could give Obama a run for his money" as current polling only shows him trailing the President by two points in Pennsylvania.

Yes, trailing by two points in your home state is now qualifies you as a threat to the presidency.

Here comes Rick

Rick Santorum will give Obama a run for his money? What is his appeal beyond diehard social conservatives? I swear does Fox even care anymore? Forget about their bias for a second. They're terrible journalists.

Silly, you're reading it as a *news* story. It's a boilerplate press release for a GOP candidate from the network whose charter is to be this predictable.

In related news, if you're not up by double-digits in your home state, you shouldn't run for head dog-washer at PetSmart, let alone POTUS.

Here's a question that was posed to me by my employer as part of my annual training regime, this one on proprietary information...

Q. A printer with whom you have been working mistakenly includes the wrong attachment in an email sent to you.
When you open the file, you realize that it is a marketing brochure from a competitor describing a product that will not be announced for another month.
Obviously, you shouldn't review the material any further.
Then what?

A. a).... b).... c)....
d) Thank the printer for the valuable information.

I laughed out loud!
Oh, you mean printer company....

I laughed again.

Hooray!
Spending Bill Passes House Despite Mass Republican Defections From Boehner

With the help of 81 Democrats, the House passed legislation Thursday to fund the government through September and avoid a government shutdown. Fifty-nine Republicans defected from GOP leadership, leaving Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) woefully short of the necessary majority to pass the bill without Democratic help. The final vote was 260-167.

The fact that Boehner needed nearly 40 Democratic votes to pass the resolution and avoid a government shutdown was a stunning blow to his leadership, especially after he shut House Democrats out of budget negotiations and just a few days ago dismissed the need to secure any Democratic votes.

It passed but I don't think it's a great sign that the Republicans couldn't pass it on their own. It's not a great sign about their ability to unify to get things done.

Trump: 'I've always had a great relationship with the blacks'

The show's host, Fred Dicker — who is also the New York Post's state editor, read a recent poll showing Obama's sky-high support among African-Americans.

Trump said the numbers were troubling and pointed to Hillary Clinton as proof that he probably won't get the kind of support among African-Americans that he deserves.

"I tell it like it is," Trump said. "[Y]ou'll hear a political reporter go on and say it had nothing to do with race. But how come she had such a tiny piece of the vote? And you know, it's a very sad thing.

"I have a great relationship with the blacks. I've always had a great relationship with the blacks. But unfortunately, it seems that, you know, the numbers you cite are very, very frightening numbers."

Dicker said, somewhat rhetorically, that votes should always be based on merit, not on race.

"If that were the case, why did Hillary Clinton do so poorly?" Turmp asked.

I know one percent isn't huge but legalizing it would mean people could grow in the open. Aside from raising tax revenue it would instantly reduce our energy consumption.

Might be overblown, but we often overlook the magnitude of the drug industry in America. We are fools for not harnessing it to help the budget.

re: #114 Fozzie Bear

It's probably based on utilities that have seen pot operations and estimated the energy usage stolen from the utilities. Multiply each illegal operation by a figure of estimated pot operations, and presto chango, that's the national figure.

Lots of guesswork and estimation involved. If it was as high as they're claiming, there'd be a whole lot of pot smokers out there - a lot more than anyone would care to recognize.

Indeed. And I agree, if it were legal, whatever the actual amount of juice used to grow pot is, it could easily be reduced to close to zero. The sun is really hard to beat as a light source.

It is possible, but that does seeem a lot. Those lamps they use are huge. Each light can suck up 800-1,000 watts. A small grow room could use6 or so lights, plus cooling fans, etc. That's why so many indoor growers set their houses on fire by overloading the wiring.

I keep reef aquaria, so I am familiar with the lighting issue. (Reef tanks use similar lighting. Different bulbs, but the same tech, and the same ballasts.) I suppose it's possible, but 1% of total consumption in the US just seems like a huge amount of power.

Then again, there really is a huge number of pots smokers in the US, so when I think about it from that perspective, it makes some sense. It's gotta be at least 50 million or so people if I had to guess.

If that estimate is true, then that is a huge amount of electricity and a lot o' weed.
I hope the electric company doesn't start rattin' out consumers with high electric bills. I run almost 2 TFLOPS worth of computing power 24/7 (distributed computing project- 'folding@home') and that does spin my meter and hopefully won't cause some overzealous prosecutor to send out SWAT to knock my door down in the middle of the night and shoot me when I open up on 'em thinking they're some neighborhood knuckleheads lookin' for a quick score.
It's almost time to shut the big rig down for the summer, though. A side benefit is that it helps warm my house in winter, but I don't like to pay to cool it in summer.
