Speaking of the Queen, Congressman King’s old friends weren’t happy to see her.
The Real IRA have vowed to kill more police officers in Northern Ireland – and told the Queen her visit to the Republic is an ‘insult’.

Obama obviously does this because he was not chosen by God for his position, he knows it, and he obviously feels no need to reciprocate.
/
Why God would care for flattery from human beings has never been explained by the way.
While we’re on it, Donald Trump’s amazing acceptance among the religious right probably reflects the kind of religious philosophy we see in the “the Fellowship,” the notorious and rather sinister organization that runs the C street house in DC.
Author Jeff Sharlet has accused the Fellowship of practicing a kind of “fundamentalist elitism,” and “fetishizing wealth and power.” The organization believes in instant forgiveness for men of wealth and power, which Sharlet says is an excuse for misbehavior of all kinds.
All this is based on the belief that the wealthy and powerful are chosen by God for their positions and are therefore entitled to a different set of rules.
Now, the Fellowship itself is not an all-powerful secret society of some kind, though it is probably closer to that model than any other real world organization, certainly more so than, say, the Tri-lateral Commission. In my experience, however, the same religious and political philosophy is pervasive among Fundamentalists, particularly in the south and midwest.
It has many attractions for those among the wealthy who realize that their success is largely a matter of dumb luck. You can work hard and become wealthy but in the process you can see many others work just as hard and not become wealthy.
This goes beyond social or financial inheritance, it includes things like having a 99th percentile IQ, or some great genetic gift, or simply being in the right place at the right time. The drawback of recognizing this element of chance is that it does not entitle you to a special set of rules. Being one of God’s chosen does.

I think not. Trump is basically exploiting what any marketer can see - there is a large market segment in the US that is especially gullible, especially prone to forming emotional attachments based on preconceived opinions, and very susceptible to making purchasing decisions based on those opinions and emotions. They are, in short, a marketer’s wet dream.
It’s nothing different than all the Obama clock, Obama petition, Obama this and Obama that ads that pop up all over LGF, or used to with more frequency before Charles got a little more picky. It’s just a marketing ploy that aims to exploit the most exploitable market segment in the world.

In short, the Fox and Limbaugh audience whose favor Trump seeks.

Soon the President will be responsible for coming to your house and hiding dyed eggs for the kids to find in your yard.
Wait. That’s the Easter Bunny, not the POTUS.
Barack Obama is also not responsible for trimming your Christmas tree, finding out when the late Mass is starting, buying your son a pair of pants for church that fit, or giving your child a five-dollar-bill in exchange for her baby tooth.

Indeed, but prostrating and bowing implies a certain need to curry favour or at least show allegiance to the same common faith. I rather get the impression that Trump has no such need, but rather sees an opportunity and is shamelessly carving himself a piece of the pie.

Lars Larson is an interesting case of utter scum.
He used to be a well-respected, apolitical news anchorman in the Portland area until the mid-1990’s. His news show had the most interesting in-depth stories.
Then, about 1995, he suddenly switched jobs and became the purveyor of right-wing radio dreck, local Portland version. It was an amazing (and disconcerting) transformation.

No matter what happens, or how the votes turn out, there is no way Obama will “win” reelection in 2012 from the righteous Christians of the GOP. He may be returned to the White House, but in their eyes it will be because of some fraud on the part of the Democratic Party, the MSM, or some cabal of other secret Kenyan Muslims who put him back there.
