Oklahoma GOP Rep. Sally Kern: ‘Blacks’ Don’t Work As Hard As White People

Gimme dat old school racism
Wingnuts • Views: 30,351

In Oklahoma, Republicans in the House of Representatives have passed a proposed constitutional amendment that eliminates affirmative action in state government, a move that’s completely typical for today’s GOP, where the bad old racists are coming out of the shadows everywhere.

Republican Sally Kern explained the reasoning behind this amendment: ‘Blacks’ Don’t Work As Hard As White People.

Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said minorities earn less than white people because they don’t work as hard and have less initiative.

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.”

Kern said women earn less than men because “they tend to spend more time at home with their families.”

In addition to being a blatant racist, Sally Kern is also a creationist.

Florence King, who some of you may have read, and who is openly anti-people in general, once described her grandmother's shock at traveling north and seeing blacks eat in restaurants. "Look at them sitting there, large as life."

(Note: Florence King has nothing against blacks more than the rest of the human race, as far as I could tell.)

Anyway, that's my reaction to seeing these kinds of racists as elected officials: Look at them sitting there, large as life.

An oldie...

Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, "[n-word], [n-word], [n-word]." By 1968 you can't say "[n-word]" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "[n-word], [n-word]."

She sure gets a lot of support.

I really have very little personal interest in describing myself as a "Democrat," but how in God's name could anyone every vote for a Republican in 2012? Forget about voting for the best person or whatever.....the Republican agenda is just too out of control

18 eastsider  Thu, Apr 28, 2011 10:19:38am

lets pretend her anecdote is true. (We will disregard the fact for the moment that one anecdote should not be interpreted as a a policy-affecting statistical truth, but hey, that's just the way the GOP operates right now).

So yeah, you had "a lot of people of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them." Great.

Maybe, as a teacher, you could, I don't know, attempt to inspire these students towards activity and purpose beyond government-supported subsistence?

Imagine the President having to explain this to his kids.

I imagine it's part of being Black. All minorities go through it at some point. One would think, though, getting to be president would mean a certain immunity, but I guess not.

I remember when he took the kids to the slave tradepost. I remember seeing their faces and the fear and sadness that went over them. I remember my mother telling me about my family when I was a little girl and it was the same fear and sadness I saw in them.

Look how close the girls snuggle to their parents

The positive thing about it is that it makes you strong and gives others (like us) an opportunity to rally around the "good" guys, the moral guys. So maybe it ain't all bad.

86 b_Snark  Thu, Apr 28, 2011 11:17:14am

I'm going to make a controversial statement.

Of course blacks, and other minorities, don't work as hard as whites, they're not hired as often as whites because of their non-whiteness.

Hold on, I think she means the minorities who do get hired don't work as hard as whites in the same job. That may also be true because the minorities who do get hired have to increase their productivity to compensate for their non-whiteness and that increased productivity may look like less effort is being expended in completing the job.

Crap, I think I'm wrong again. She means blacks who get hired don't work as hard because they're lazy. Well isn't that just the most blindly privileged lie she could make?

The woman is wearing shit coloured glasses.

So they are too busy bumpin' uglies to pursue a career or an education.

Simple as that.

[Link: www.salon.com...]

Let us take, as an example, the story of a student so obviously unqualified, so transparently unworthy, that a book was written about what his admittance into Harvard said about the sorry behavior of supposedly elite colleges.

That student -- that dull, below-average student who somehow made his way into Harvard -- was Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Kushner's father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, bought Jared his Harvard acceptance. It cost him $2.5 million. (Kushner later went to jail for tax evasion and witness tampering, so it was also, technically, dirty money that bought Trump's daughter's husband's entry into the Ivy League.)

Wall Street Journal education writer Daniel Golden's book "The Price of Admission" explores the Kushner donation at length. An official at Kushner's (expensive, private) high school told the author: "There was no way anybody in . . . the school thought he would on the merits get into Harvard. His GPA did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought, for sure, there was no way this was going to happen."

There's plenty of room for reasonable disagreement on the merits of affirmative action, and the extent of the role (if any) race should play in hiring and admissions decisions, with the goal of remedying systemic inequality. I'm personally lukewarm to the idea of affirmative action.

But I've never seen a politician come right out and say that they're against it because black people just don't work as hard as white people.

Or have been married for longer than 10 years as well.

The bill would not allow for divorce on the basis of incompatibility if:

* There are living minor children of the marriage
* The parties have been married 10 years or longer
* Either party files a written objection to the granting of a divorce

That place is on my list of places to see. I hear everyone who goes there cries, not just AAs. Some places are just brutally sad and if you are a normal human being you feel it.

I want to go someday. I think every American should who can. So much ended and began there, and so much of what our country became...intense.

Plus, I'm told if you go to market in the cities nearby you can hear African American music playing, having finished a really long round trip...

Fom my experience, if a couple can succeed in raising their kids to the age of 18 and still stay together, the odds are you will stay that way until you die...

There are always exceptions, like my Uncle's first wives grandmother who shot her husband in the head with a shotgun while he slept after 50 years of marriage because she was tired of putting up with his shit.

Affirmative action is considered racist by some self proclaimed meritocracy advocates because it gives non-CWM (Christian White Males) an unwarranted and artificial advantage. They reject the idea that there exists a systemic inequality of opportunity remaining in western social structures and they further reject the idea that we are to some degree a blank slate when we are born and become a composite of our experiences, sometimes prone to destructive and/or uncontrolled impulses.

There are a lot of buzz words used as comfort food by this group to help them ignore reality and misunderstand human psychology; responsibility, fault, lazy, welfare, bum, deterrent, scum, etc.

What I have seen in real life are people who are told they have no future, no chance to live the dream, no way of improving their situation so they might as well just abuse themselves and their families.

I have two brothers-in-law who are alcoholics, and a sister-in-law who died of a drug overdose while hooking in Vancouver. They weren't always like that.

171 justaminute  Thu, Apr 28, 2011 12:36:33pm

Oklahoma Cities skyline is changing. A new monolithic building is going up. Of course it belongs to an oil company. It will be the tallest structure. North OKC has the oil companies. West OKC has the FAA. East OKC has Tinker AFB and South OKC leads to Norman and that leads to Football and takes you out of town to Dallas. So basically Oklahoma is supported by the Federal Government and oil. The rest of it is farmland. That's OKC and surrounding areas in a nutshell. Tulsa is the same.

Some blacks see racism in 'birther' questions

Many African-Americans responded to Wednesday's scene with a large sigh. The rumors and the controversy had a particular, troubling resonance for them: They've seen, heard, lived, the legitimacy of black people being called into question so many times before that, they said, they weren't shocked to see it happen to Obama over something as simple as a birth certificate.

But they were sad about it, too, seeing what they felt was a high-level manifestation of the idea that when a black person accomplishes something great there must be something wrong.

"Why, what's he done?" asked the boy's daddy.

"He pissed in the snow, that's what he done, right in front of my house!"

But surely, there ain't no great harm in that," Bill says.

"No harm!" hollered Sam. "Hell's fire, he pissed so it spelled Lucy's name, right there in the snow!"

"The boy shouldn't have done that," says Bill. "But I don't see nothing so terrible bad about it."

OK, one more than gotta go help my friend move:

One time there was a town girl and a country girl got to talking about the boys they had went with. The town girl told what kind of car her boyfriends used to drive, and how much money their folks has got. But the country girl didn't take no interest in things like that, and she says the fellows are always trying to get into her pants.
So finally the town girl says, "Have you ever been diddled?" The country girl giggled, and she says yes, a little bit. "How much?" says the town girl. "Oh, about like that," says the country girl, and she held up her finger to show an inch, or maybe an inch and a half.

The town girl just laughed, and pretty soon the country girl says, "Have you ever been diddled?" The town girl says of course she has, lots of times. "How much?" says the country girl. "Oh, about like that," says the town girl, and she marked off about eight inches, or maybe nine.

The country girl just sat there goggle-eyed, and she drawed a deep breath. "My God," says the country girl, "that aint't diddling! Why, you've been fucked!"

(all from the great book, Pissing in the Snow and Other Ozark Folketales by Vance Randolph. Amazing, hilarious freakin' book)

2010 election results for Kern:

Sally Kern, Rep. 5,717 65.90% Won
Brittany M. Novotny, Dem. 2,958 34.10% Lost

She sure gets a lot of support.

Britney Novotny is a fantastic person and would have done a great job in the legislature...and she is also a post op trans woman. She didn't have a chance in Oklahoma.

Sadly, I think that would be fatal to a campaign in most places in the country (Unless most people didn't know because you were "dishonest" by not wearing a giant neon "I'm trans" button).

I was surprised how beautiful WI was in general. La cross, so charming. I would love to visit again.

While most of Sally Kern's crap made me want to puke, I had to laugh at one aspect of it.

She mixes old-fashioned racism with the use of the term "people of color," which is definitely progressive-speak. LOL!
