The issue with this, and why it will never, ever go away for some, is that it never had anything to do with the real facts of Obama’s birth.
There are all too many in America who can not imagine that a black man is president or that their lily white vision of it isn’t being taken from them. Since they inherently believe in white supremacy either consciously or not, the black president must be an inside job. There must be some fix.
No evidence can overcome that.

The Gellar crowd is a special form of that. It is not that Obama is black, but rather not batshit like them about foreign affairs… therefore, there must be a fix. No evidence can sway that.

Nice call-back to his character in “Half Baked”. Very appropriate.

Yeah it is disgusting. Dreggas has a great page with a very eloquent commentary on this.

Absolutely. They’re already searching for the next Big Thing to try to impeach him with. All that matters is showing that he was never the legitimate president due to either some illegality or technicality. Its no different than Swearing-in-gate in that respect.

Obama is a constitutional lawyer by training. He was a lecturer in Constitutional Law for 10 years at the University of Chicago. I believe that he really wanted our constitutional system to work. He really wanted Americans, as a whole, to behave like grownups. When he released Hawaii’s short form during the campaign, he really wanted this satisfaction of the legal requirement for the presidency to be all that was needed. He wanted his beloved American constitutional system to WORK.
I think Obama did the right thing by releasing the long form a few days ago, but it must have been a bitter experience for him. It proved that the system did not work. Now, if you want to run for President, it’s not enough to satisfy all the legal requirements. Apparently, in some cases, you have to do more than that. I believe that Obama wanted to avoid the need to go above and beyond this great system of ours, but America disappointed him.
There’s nothing wrong with journalists asking politicians for more information. But this whole birther movement is a sorry spectacle, reminiscent of childhood bullying. I think Arizona’s Governor, Jan Brewer, was very wise to veto Arizona’s birther bill. No good can come from the birther movement. It can’t end soon enough.

I love the way that both Jon and Jason Jones were “praying for him to be nominated”. It would be comedy gold - and I would suspect that the constant ridiculing of Trump would be grating on him.
Trump Force One!

I disagree just slightly. The system did work, it’s just that it wasn’t good enough for the mouth breathers and knuckle draggers.

Especially in the case of being a black president.

What really gets me is the fact that Obama had a passport as a U.S. citizen (passports require a birth certificate and it is also clearly stated on the passport the state where one was born). The State Department had this information so it’s not like any of the people who are running for president haven’t had this “checked out” to make sure they are constitutionally eligible.

JFTR, I found Rand Paul’s latest antics requesting the “original long-form certificate of Donald Trump’s Republican registration” rather amusing: thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com
