Porn Discovered in Bin Laden’s Hideout

The great jihad warrior apparently was a wanker
World • Views: 25,528

Osama bin Laden (or somebody in his compound) apparently liked to get his freak on: Pornography found in bin Laden hideout.

The pornography recovered in bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, consists of modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive, according to the officials, who discussed the discovery with Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Wait, wasn’t pornography one of those hallmarks of decadent, depraved Western culture that he spent so much of his life decrying? I am shocked, SHOCKED to find hypocrisy in this man’s house./

17 lawhawk  Fri, May 13, 2011 10:21:43am

Seriously though, this isn’t surprising in the slightest. For all their talk about the West’s decadence and lack of morals or following Islam, OBL and his minions partook in more than their share of the same decadence (and he was found not in a cave, but in a well to do community in Pakistan albeit with meth-lab shabby chic decor). OBL was from a monied and elite family. Many of the 9/11 plotters were monied and from professional backgrounds. Zawahiri is from a professional background. They didn’t call for jihad because of a lack of money or resources between and among them - but because of the so-called excesses.

They all claim to adhere to a strict version of Islam, but it seems that the part that manifests most is the hatred of women’s rights and violence towards anyone they deem to be an enemy (whether it’s the West or those Muslims who don’t believe the way they do - as is all to frequently the case in Afghanistan and Pakistan).

I think this particular tidbit was released precisely because it shows OBL to be nothing more than a hypocrite who had no problems sending others to murder thousands, all while he was comfortable in Abbottabad wanking off to Hot Girls of Hydrabad II.

Uh oh. We have another giant fake controversy brewing, getting hyped by all the usual suspects:

School Tells Child to Take Down Drawing of American Flag

Note the real reason:

22News tried to contact the Superintendent, Dr. Paul Burnim. He refused to go on camera, but told 22News over the phone that nobody ever told Franklin the drawing was offensive, and said the only reason it wasn’t hung was because Franklin was supposed to be doing other work; not drawing a picture. In a statement he said: “Each of our schools flies the American Flag every day. At the Butterfield School, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited by students and staff. And the other schools recite the Pledge of Allegiance at least once per week.”

Fundamentalism, seen in jihad terror gang and mullet-coiffed mega-church alike, is about controlling people. This inevitably leads to the leadership having a special set of rules. What civilized people regard as hypocrisy is not a bug to them, it is a feature.

Abuse and hypocrisy are features of nearly every single power hierarchy, from our government to our family and gender dynamics.

Another possibility, which comes to mind is that OBL or others in his compound were using the porn to send coded messages. It wouldn’t be the first time either.

re: #31 prairiefire

For anybody who thinks that this post kill, humanization process isn’t important, you are wrong.

Yeah, but it’s used to create a false hypocrisy (and demonize porn, I suppose.)

So to what end are you looking for humanization? Are you looking to prove he’s not a holy, intouchable figure, or are you looking to discuss the importance of human life in the wake of all that death?

If it’s the latter, this is a strange way to go about it. If it’s the former, it comes off as blatant propaganda, in the US and abroad. Even if it was true, focus on his crimes, not his sex life. I doubt what he did would even be unholy in the confines of his marriage(s).

re: #54 wrenchwench

Yeah, finally broke out of lurking for this :p

Are you on a mission to defend Osama from scurrilous rumors? Do you think there was no porn, or that it wasn’t his?

I think it lessens the horror of AQ and at the same time comes off as hamfisted psyops. Considering the recent fake “OBL used his wife as a human shield” stories that’ve been going around, this looks to be just as fake.

I don’t know why it would come off as “defending” Osama from anything, I just hate the tabloid rumor mill, how it’s infested the US media, and what we’re willing to gloss over if it fits our preconceptions. There’s more than enough to loathe without trying to find hypocrisy where there is likely none.

56 Charles Johnson  Fri, May 13, 2011 4:18:03pm

re: #55 chaosium

The story comes from Reuters, and they cite multiple sources for it.

If you don’t want to believe it, that’s your choice. But it’s as well-sourced as any other news story, and it certainly doesn’t sound far-fetched at all.

57 chaosium  Fri, May 13, 2011 4:26:52pm

re: #56 Charles

It’s possible, I find it more likely that they exist for steganographic purposes, if true. I’d probably be much less annoyed with the coverage if that angle was played up. Since it hasn’t been, and since it wasn’t ever brought up by the “multiple anonymous sources”, that’s why I’m a bit more suspicious. Why would multiple anonymous sources be more reliable than one anonymous source, either way?

61 Shiplord Kirel  Fri, May 13, 2011 5:53:03pm

re: #52 chaosium

I’d be more amused and willing to believe it if he was a fundie religious leader.

He was a fundy religious leader in many ways. His objective was no different from that of many of our dominionists, a theocratic authoritarian state. The crucial difference is that he did not face the legal and constitutional constraints that restrain them.

Really, though. ContinentalOp is right. It’s not “honoring” OBL to question this sort of bullshit propaganda after all the other anonymous reports were pushed. Why propagate unverified, snopesworthy lies? Why allow the news to become a glorified version of your grandparents’ email forwards?

It’s not worth a titter, these tabloid faux-journos can go fuck themselves for all I care. He was a Manson-like murderous nutjob without all these exaggerations, I don’t understand why that’s not enough.

You seem to have assumed pretty definitely that this is some kind of bullshit propaganda, which is a whole different thing from reasonable skepticism. There are some crucial differences between this and the “wife as shield” story. The latter appeared from a single source in the inevitably confused aftermath of the operation. It was also similar enough to the now-accepted facts, that the wife rushed the SEALs on her own and was shot, that confusion could easily arise. The porn story has come from multiple sources after more than a week, plenty of time for the basic facts to be sorted out. It is possible but far, far less likely that is also a misinterpretation of some real finding. If it is untrue, it therefore represents a deliberate fabrication. The real extent and nature of the collection is still publicly unknown and we can never definitely know why OBL had it.

62 dirtyharry71  Fri, May 13, 2011 9:53:53pm

OBL just went up a notch. That’s notch 1. lmao

(Yes, that’s a rip off from the Starsky & Hutch movie)
