Huckabee Makes Big Announcement and Jams with White Supremacist

Fox News host stuns world
Wingnuts • Views: 39,239

Here’s an open thread while we wait with bated breath for Mike Huckabee’s “big announcement.” He’s going to string us along until the end of his Fox News show, to keep the advertisers happy and give him a chance to jam with white supremacist Ted Nugent.

What? You didn’t know the Nuge is a white supremacist? Well, sorry to disillusion you, but Ted Nugent has appeared several times on the openly racist Memphis-based radio show Political Cesspool, which also regularly features people like David Duke, Pat Buchanan, and a host of other white nationalist Neanderthals.

Here’s the guest list for this deeply disgusting show (Google cache link). You may find some other surprising names on it, too.

UPDATE at 5/14/11 6:04:42 pm

He’s not running, which doesn’t surprise me. God wants Mike Huckabee to keep collecting paychecks from Rupert Murdoch.

Poltiicians like Huck are a lot like Nugent anyways. It’s definitely in the tradition of rockstar politics.

Glad we have so many music fans here right now. With two guitarist on tap, we need them.

actually Huck n Jive should be a national embarrassment, but here he is, running for POTUS….man, if that doesn’t illustrate the dire times we are in, nothing can

Huckabee’s one major strength in my opinion is that he can put a kindly old “uncle fundy” face on incredibly wrongheaded positions to make him seem harmless and good natured. The mask slips when he does stuff like this and the inner socon is let out….

I hope events like this sink any chance he has at winning the primary/presidential election.

I’m not saying we should kick ‘em off a bridge, but there are certainly trends.

Not sure about that. Economically, Gov. Long was a true radical. And he was also not a friend to the forces of racism, since he did expand education for black people in Louisiana substantially.

To tide you over while we wait with baited breath.

New York police confirm IMF chief in custody.

The head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is in police custody and is being questioned in regard to a sexual assault, a New York police spokesman has confirmed.

Police spokesman Paul Browne said Mr Strauss-Kahn was taken into custody on Saturday (local time) at JFK International Airport in New York.

He was was arrested minutes before he was to due to fly to Paris from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York, according to a report in the New York Times.

The Times’ report, which cites a Port Authority spokesman, says Mr Strauss-Kahn is accused of a sexual attack on a hotel maid.

The Times quotes authorities as saying the alleged attack took place at a Times Square hotel earlier in the day.

Mr Strauss-Kahn is considered a candidate for the presidency of France but has not yet announced whether he will seek it.

In Washington, an IMF spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

Top French politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn dragged off flight at JFK, accused of sodomizing maid

The article body says:

Strauss-Kahn, 62, allegedly crept up behind a maid after she entered his room and forced her to perform oral sex on him, sources said.

The woman broke free and ran out of the room. Strauss-Khan quickly headed for the airport, sources said.

re: #40 ozbloke
Subscribers only article from The Wall Street Journal.
A law enforcement official with knowledge of the case said Dominique Strauss-Kahn, head of the International Monetary Fund, was taken into police custody after being removed from an airplane at Kennedy Airport.

According to the official, Mr. Strauss-Kahn allegedly forced a cleaning woman onto his bed and sodomized her at about noon Saturday inside his room at the Sofitel Hotel near Times Square.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn allegedly allowed the woman to leave then departed for the airport, the official said.

The alleged victim informed co-workers who then alerted authorities, the official said.

Two detectives from the Port Authority Police Department removed Mr. Strauss-Kahn from the first class section of a Paris-bound Air France flight minutes before the crew closed the door, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

“He was cooperative,” said the spokesman, John Kelly.

The Port Authority police, which have jurisdiction over the city’s airports, were acting at request of the NYPD, Mr. Kelly said. The Port Authority turned Mr. Strauss-Kahn over to the NYPD after he was taken into custody.

The arrest of Mr. Strauss-Kahn, 62 years old, comes at a pivotal time for the fund. John Lipsky, Mr. Strauss-Kahn”s deputy, said last week that he is resigning in August. Mr Lipsky, the Deputy Managing Director, helped Mr Strauss-Kahn usher the fund through the global financial crisis. He has agreed to stay on as a consultant through November.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn has shepherded the IMF through a period of expanding supervisory heft and power following the global economic crisis. In the past year, the fund has played a central role in the bailouts of ailing euro-zone nations Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

For some time, Mr Strauss-Kahn has been seen as harboring ambitions to the French presidency and was considered a leading contender in France’s Socialist Party. He was dispatched to the helm of the IMF in Washington, some French political insiders day, because he was seen as a rival to President Nicholas Sarkozy. Mr. Strauss-Kahn hasn’t declared his intentions regarding the presidential race, but if planning a run, he must register his candidacy in France before mid-July.

That was about as blatant as it gets. Asshole.

Now, now. You’re taking things out of context here. What he actually said was “the most successful food stamp president in modern American history.”

You see, “most successful”. He was actually complementing Obama on his accomplishments. Man, you liberals will look for any excuse to slander a good American patriot with the racism card.

Well since James is online, I’m going to post my latest D&D/LGF Crossover Non-Player Characters (NPCs). These are intended to fit the lame Twitter-stalking going on right now:

Twitter Strawman
Level 4 Loser Minion

A figure made out of straw done up to look like a player or a character that they are on good terms with. It may try to sucker the players in before attacking, but a successful Perception roll against a target of 6 will allow the players to hear its mindless DERPing.

Hit Points: 40

Magic: None

Attacks:

Lame Swing: +2 bonus to defend against. 1D6 damage if it hits.

Stream of Illogic: The strawman spouts a stream of illlogic the Dazes the character if it hits.

Flounce Flop: The Strawman jumps up and tries to land on one of the player characters. The strawman takes 1D4 damage when it uses this attack but a success causes the target to take 2D4 damage.

Special: If hit by the Fire of Knowledge, Fire of Wrath, or Righteous Fire, the Twitter Strawman is instantly burned to ash. If hit by Burning Stupid, it is strengthened per next entry.

The only running they seem to be doing is running for the hills. I don’t know exactly why, but here’s my guess: They are afraid of him and they should be. Barack Obama is as cold blooded and vicious a man who has ever sat in the White House when he decides it’s warranted. When he decided it’s time for someone to be dealt with, they get dealt with. See Osama bin Laden, Donald Trump, John McCain, the 2008 Clinton campaign, Paul Ryan’s budget plan, Jeremiah Wright, his old IL state senate opponents, Tavis Smiley, the Somali pirates, Mubarak and Gadhafi, the former CEO of GM, the predator drone strikes, etc. He is not a guy who’s just going to get his ass kicked. If you are going to fight him, you have to bring your A game and most of these people don’t have any game let alone and A game.

211 Jaerik  Sat, May 14, 2011 6:39:17pm

You can make a lot more money as President than by having any show on Fox, especially once you leave office.

This wasn’t just a naked financial decision. It was a naked financial decision informed by an examination of the probabilities. If Obama was anywhere near as awful, hideously weak, and obviously horrible for America as Fox likes to consistently imply, it would be a no-brainer for any opposition candidate polling as well as Huckabee does among his base to take the chance.

But he’s not. Obama’s in a pretty strong place for re-election at the moment, and it’s not worth the long-shot gamble of giving up a lucrative deal now for the increasingly small chance of cashing in later. A leading conservative candidate (some polls suggest “the” leading candidate) dropping out of the race says far more about Obama’s odds than anything else.

Romney/Rice would be one of the few things that might sway me from voting against the GOP and pulling the lever for Obama next year; Huntsman/Rice would be even better. But, even though the part of me that still leans GOP hates to admit this, President Obama’s doing fairly well…he seems the have been the right man at the right time, for the most part, and I don’t see how the GOP is going to logically counter that.

Spewer Troll
Level 6 Loser Minion

This is a ugly troll, a bit large than the Gamey Flouncer Troll. It can be easily noticed due to its bright red buttocks, bright red from where it was logic spanked. It attacks relentlessly, all the while screaming things like “I hate you, Daddy!!1”

Hit Points: 65

Magic: None

Attacks:

Claws: 1D10 damage.

Rage-Blind Charge: The troll charges into the target. 2D6 damage to target, 1D6 damage to troll.

Spew of Burning Stupid: The troll spews a foul stream of fiery stupidity. The hit causes 2D6 damage and forces a Saving Roll.

1st Failed Saving Roll: Target takes an additional 10 points of damage.

2nd Failed Saving Roll: Target is set on fire. On the following turn, target may take no action other than to run around screaming “The Stupid!! It Burns!!” At the end of the next turn, target may make another save roll to end the burning.

Special: If a Spewer Troll hits a Twitter Strawman with Burning Stupid, the Strawman gains 10 hit points (this can exceed its normal 40 point maximum) and it is set on fire. The Strawman’s attacks do an additional 1D6 damage and force saving rolls as described above. A Strawman that has been set ablaze by Burning Stupid loses 5 hit points per turn and falls to ash when its HPs hit zero.

Damn good memory. My main memory of 94 was Orenthal breaking up game 6 because of a double murder or something.

Actually, it was the Triangle Offense that finally gave the Bulls the edge they needed. Before that, they could not win playoff games at the Palace in Auburn Hills. But after that change in tactics, the Bulls were able to truly realize their potential and win the NBA Championship.

The guard was Horace Grant, their rebounder. Their small forward was John Paxton for their first three championship runs. In the second three, Paxton’s role as Three Point Shooter was filled ably by Steve Kerr, while Dennis Rodman acted as rebounder.

I was at the Palace vs the Magic, Shaq’s second year….
right at the end of the half Shaq, who already has at least fifteen and ten, takes the ball inside and as he started to loft himself up for his shot, Lambier threw him onto the floor…penalty, missed shots….the the exact thing happened the very first time at the beginning of the third…Shaq got the ball down low, Lambier threw him down again and he slid OB under the post…as he started to get up Lambier jumped over him straddled with his fists doubled up…penalty, missede FT’s again…Lambier was bad ass

Everyone to this day says the only reason we (the Rockets) won 94 & 95 was because Jordan had to leave basketball for gambling reasons went to play baseball. I called bullshit then and still do now. Hakeem? Top 10 all-time player hands down.

He sure broke my heart when the Knicks met up with the Rox. The Ewing-Hakeem battle was one or the books, though - records fell in that series, with both centers breaking them.

Because I’m bored tonight, I made my way over to see what the Freepers are saying about Huck not running:

Please consider Michelle Bachman instead of Palin.
—-
Palin/Bachman 2012 - Unbeatable ticket
—-
Good, the GOP needs attack dogs in this new reality, not Teddy Bears.
—-
More Votes for Sister Sarah!
—-
I think Michelle and Sarah are cut from the same cloth. They would make a formidable team. Fortunately, Michelle is already in a position to do the most good. Can we say Speaker Bachman?
—-
I’m surprised his overinflated ego allowed him to bow out.

Now if only the mittwit will make the same decision.
—-
At the end of the day this isn’t the right cycle for him. He’s too soft to punch Zero in the face rhetorically. Especially with the media in the tank as always. GOP has to realize we need a bold candidate that’s ready to go for the jugular.
—-
Before he said NO, he went on and on making it sound like it was YES. Phew! I hope he urges his supporters to back Sarah Palin when she announces.
—-
Good. The Huckster is no conservative. But now we need to get rid of Newt. blech
—-
We may end up with a very interesting 4-way race: Palin, Trump, Cain, and Gingrich.

The debates will be barn-burners!
—-
I want Trump to stay because he’s comfortable being the boss, believes in America, and is ruthless in business.

Herman Cain is someone I’m getting to know and like.

I’d throw down for LtC West in a nanosecond.

Don’t know if Sarah will throw in, but the Left will do ANYTHING they can to her and to her family to stop her. They’re trying the same with Trump, who’s no picnic, of course.

Most of all, we know these people are Americans by inclination and belief systems, not by ‘happenstance’ or (supposed) accident of birth.
—-
The nomination is now Sarah’s if she wants it. Huckabee was her biggest competition. I’m betting that Sarah announces right before the next debate, which is June 13th. So an announcement about a week before would be about right. If not, then she is likely not running IMO.
—-
Look for Herman Cain to pull into second or third place.

Heh. Lots of delusions there tonight. Also, a surprising amount of glee that Huck’s not running, because he’s apparently not a conservative, but just a squishy RINO.

Don’t think that would be strategically wise. Sirte is cut from Tripoli by Misrata and can not be supplied. An attack on Misrata by an Qaddafi forces in Sirte would be hard. Marshes south of the city only have a few roads through them, and there are now major roadblocks there. NATO is striking constantly at those troops is Brega, leaving them trapped. But that means that the rebels will either have to cross through hostile territory on foot through the desert, or go by boat. The former would be too risky and would leave the rebels vulnerable to annihilation by Qaddafi’s forces. The latter is impossible without NATO naval support, which does not appear likely in the near future.

I think the international community is slowly turning away from Libya. They see a stalemate brewing and they want to save face. These half-assed air strikes on Tripoli are proof of that.

It pains me to say this, but the only think that will motivate NATO to do what needs to be done is a Srebrenitsa-like massacre.

Different members of the Guess Who have different interpretations of the lyrics, but the one that stood out the most was as a protest against US politics of the time. Some Canucks interpreted it as a complaint against the US elephant that could roll over and squish the Canada mouse without noticing.

I just found it interesting that I didn’t hear a lot of noise about the song when Lenny re-did it.

381 ProBosniaLiberal  Sat, May 14, 2011 8:45:10pm

re: #375 Max D. Reinhardt

Stalemate it isn’t anymore. Qaddafi’s control is slipping. The Misratan rebels have broken out and are advancing down the coastal road, while Qaddafi’s forces are in disarray. In the mountains, the fights have lessened. Meanwhile, in Tripoli, there are constant rumors of rebel cell attacks, and sometimes even bigger things.

from the horses mouth….

The popular misconception was that it was a chauvinistic tune, which was anything but the case. The fact was, we came from a very strait-laced, conservative, laid-back country, and all of a sudden, there we were in Chicago, Detroit, New York — all these horrendously large places with their big city problems. After that one particularly grinding tour, it was just a real treat to go home and see the girls we had grown up with. Also, the war was going on, and that was terribly unpopular. We didn’t have a draft system in Canada, and we were grateful for that. A lot of people called it anti-American, but it wasn’t really. We weren’t anti-anything. John Lennon once said that the meanings of all songs come after they are recorded. Someone else has to interpret them.[5]

Being pissed at someone’s actions isn’t the same as hate. The US - Canada relationship has always been complex, with a lot of similarities and agreements slapped around by small differences and some disagreements. I look at it like I would my best friend doing something I consider stupid and dangerous. I’d yell at him, slap him on the back of the head then take him out and get him drunk.

The Guess Who members didn’t hate the US.

The republicans (my party) will select a new pinata and attack him or her from all possible angles: the conservative equivalent of a circular firing squad.

All I ask is someone resurrect Pyrrhus of Epirus to deliver color commentary for the next election cycle.

He won’t shake hands because he’s a germaphobe…

I saw James Brown years ago, and when he was exiting the venue he came out with white gloves on. Seems Mr. Brown was a germophobe, too.

I shook his hand and got his autograph that night - one of two people I ever asked for their autograph. The other was Les Paul.

Les Paul was a living legend…he used to hang out at Gibson in Kalamazoo…my older sister worked there and met him a couple of times…older friends of mine hung out with him…I never met him or saw him…she also met up with Phil Everly for pics and autographs…nice work if you can get it…my older sister turned me on to rock and roll…bless her heart

Small gov’t? Dead.

Fiscal responsibility? Dead.

Foreign policy? I’m hawkish, so I don’t see that as totally dead in the GOP, but I don’t see how that has changed any under the new boss. It may be circumstance, it may be policy, but I am pleasantly surprised, and more than happy to give due credit to the new admin.

First Amendment? Dead and fucking buried regarding the clear “wall of separation” part.

Second Amendment? So the GOP gets one point from me. Not good enough.

The story I read was confusing:

The headline said:

The article body says:

This has probably been answered hours ago, but in legal terms, ‘sodomy’ can refer to any non-vaginal or ‘unnatural’ intercourse, and in some states, does. So the charge is ‘sodomy’ but that can mean oral sex.

re: #103 Slumbering Behemoth

Now, now. You’re taking things out of context here. What he actually said was “the most successful food stamp president in modern American history.”

You see, “most successful”. He was actually complementing Obama on his accomplishments. Man, you liberals will look for any excuse to slander a good American patriot with the racism card.
/wingnut blogger off

In order to understand just what he meant by that, I would ask him to list two or three other successful food stamp presidents that were not quite as successful as Obama. It would give me some context.

re: #188 Targetpractice, Worst of Both Worlds

But I think even running and losing would be a great profit to her if she can get the nomination. The first woman to be a major party candidate could be a lifetime gig in so many ways, even in a loss.

Remember too, that Sarah was the one thing that put enough spark in the Republican base to keep McCain respectable. She fired up the base big time, and still has a following. The party might see her as the only way to stay united and to bring out enough to save the House and have a chance at the Senate.

So she could drop in, win a couple of states against what looks like a mediocre field at best.

Yeah, but if she wins the nomination, she’ll lose in a blowout. Her negatives are high and her suburban appeal is low.

463 CarolJ  Sun, May 15, 2011 8:07:44am

re: #462 Dark_Falcon

True, I doubt she could win. But the party may want to at least get enough turnout to hold on to more shaky red seats at the lower levels. While blue states may be hopeless, there are red districts in them, and the red states would need to be held like a dam against the possibility of blue dog wins.

So lose at the top, but get enough turnout to at least save some vulnerable seats. She has her negatives, but at least it wouldn’t be the complete run-over that someone with little national recognition or support would have. Which is what this race looks like so far. None of the remaining people running have either the recognition or charisma for a one on one race with Obama. Palin would at least have both and help in that sense. Being first woman to run as a Presidential candidate on a national party ticket should help with excitement as well. And she’s pretty expendable: someone who can lose, do well, and never haunt the party in 2016.

Which is why apparently stronger candidates are not stepping up to the plate. Why risk a loss in 2012 when one can (hopefully) run against a Democrat to be named later in 2016? Biden probably won’t be running unless for some reason he has to (nobody better steps up) and could only win if he promises one term (he’ll be 74). So they may think it more prudent to wait and see if the Democrats in 2016 run someone less able than Obama.

464 dragonfire1981  Sun, May 15, 2011 8:11:26am

I was just reading a story on Yahoo News about how now all the GOP 2012 candidates will be tripping over each other to get Huckabee’s endorsement, which apparently carries a fair amount of weight.

This is hilarious to me because I would be far LESS inclined to vote for anyone Huckabee endorsed.

I see that “Prussian Blue” is on the guest list. *vomit*

From the wiki article on them:

The group had strong ties to the National Vanguard organization, a “white nationalist” group formed by disaffected former members of the hate group National Alliance. Their ideology has been described as racist and white supremacist by many organizations.[5][6][11] The Daily Telegraph reports that, on stage, the twins execute Nazi salutes.[6]

According to ABC News, the girls were homeschooled by their mother, April Gaede, an activist and writer for the white nationalist organization National Vanguard.[5] The twins’ maternal grandfather, who lives in Squaw Valley, Fresno County, California, wears a Nazi swastika belt buckle; he also features the swastika on his truck and has registered it as a cattle brand.[5] During their ABC interview, the twins said they believe Adolf Hitler was a great man with good ideas, and they described the Holocaust as being exaggerated. They have also been criticized for stipulating that goods they donated to Hurricane Katrina victims should go only to white people: “After a day of trying, the supplies ended up with few takers, dumped at a local shop that sells Confederate memorabilia.”[3][6]

“Cesspool” seems like a very accurate name for the program.

Every decision for the Christian is a spiritual one. That being said, the Huckster could have just said no without giving us such a long-winded reason. He chose not to run. Good for him. He’s free to do whatever he wants, including make money.
