I don’t think there was an active cover-up, nor did Pakistan’s chief people know. But lower level people likely did, and failed to report it. Pakistan has a great deal of Islamic radicals , and their influence is felt in the government.

Agree. Arianna has always been about manipulating whatever/whoever in order to maneuver herself to more money and power. She doesn’t really care about what goes on in those items (like HuffPo) that bear her name, as long as the turnover is good enough. Yep. If Huntsman reverses his backpedal (so I guess, that’d be front-pedal) on the need to address AGW, and continues to be moderate and reasonable on social issues, I’d vote for him. I’d even campaign for him.

Sadly, I don’t think he’d have a chance of getting past the primaries.

You continually think I’m in some way highly enthused about Obama. I’m not, at all. He’s not doing 1/100th of what he needs to to address AGW, and he’s not doing enough to address the other systemic problems in the country, like regulation of the financial markets and figuring out how we’re going to stop our slide into an ill-educated nation of sharply divided classes.

I’ve also noticed with pears that if they’re allowed to fully ripen on the tree they get that grainy texture to the flesh. When mine start to get full size I start picking them and allow them to ripen on the kitchen counter.

At AIPAC Obama Chooses Escalation

That was a deeply unwise speech Obama just gave to AIPAC. The president did not ask himself the first question of political speechmaking: Why am I saying this? Instead he surrendered to his personal exasperation with Benjamin Netanyahu, and escalated a confrontation he had every reason to de-ecalate.

But here’s what I would guess; the president lost, not gained, friends in the pro-Israel community with his big opportunity at AIPAC today.

Ladders are pretty well regulated by industrial standards. Just look for an ANSI reference and make sure the weight rating is good for your needs. OTOH, aluminum ladders suck around electrics.

Not impossible, but it would take some extreme circumstances between now and then, ones which we cannot rule out: like a massive terror attack (I mean something twice or three times the scale of 9/11) or a major natural/man-made disaster that precipitates a local collapse of infrastructure in a large region, one which could precipitate an economic melt-down.

But if the economy does not get visibly worse and America’s security situation does not deteriorate, the Republicans will not be able to field anyone who would beat Obama. And besides, anyone right-wing enough to win their nomination would be too extreme for the general election.
