‘They deserve to die’ - Julian Assange
World • Views: 34,999

PBS FrontLine has an interesting show tonight, an investigative report on Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, and the biggest intelligence breach in US history: FRONTLINE: WikiSecrets.

The press release has this shocking description of Assange’s attitude toward the people whose names appeared in the massive document dump:

Was Julian Assange prepared to publish some of the leaked documents without adequately redacting the names of people who could have been harmed by the disclosures? “Julian was very reluctant to delete those names, to redact them.” David Leigh of the Guardian newspaper tells FRONTLINE of meetings he attended with Assange in the run-up to publication of the war logs. “And we said: ‘Julian, we’ve got to do something about these redactions. We really have got to.’ And he said: ‘These people were collaborators, informants. They deserve to die.’ And a silence fell around the table.”

Julain Assange is human garbage, out to sell what he can steal.
Other than that, well, he will hopefully reap what he has sowed.

Someone thought, “How’d I get mixed up with this guy?”

when I think of Assange I regress to my brawling days…I still have fantasies in my elder years…I’m 58 but I wouldn’t bet against me

David Leigh is a very well-respected investigative journalist, and more than a little on the anti-war, anti-US-war-making side of things.

So I give this quite a bit of credibility.

My husband just looked at the TV….”wait…they’re showing this? On TV?”

I’m taping the show so we can watch it after he’s checked on everybody in the squadron to make sure they are OK after the tornado outbreak. Fortunately the storms spent most of their time in less populated areas when they were at their peak.

Oh, I dunno. I think he deserves to be ignored completely. It would bother him a lot more. I’ll ask the husband if the leaks did any real damage after we watch the show.

I had hoped to see this at 6:00pm Pacific but as per my Direct TV feed, I’ll have to be patient until 9Pm. As to that quote- I’m not at all surprised. Rat bastard that Julian is….

Almost one year to the day Army investigators arrested intelligence analyst Bradley Manning on suspicion of leaking hundreds of thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks, the ex-hacker who turned him in is set to meet with the chief prosecutor on the case for the first time.

“I’m finally going to meet with the JAG officer to go over the preliminaries for the actual testimony and how they want to play out my role,” Lamo said in a telephone interview Tuesday. “It’s the first time I’ve met with them.”

presidential candidate in South Florida, calls for cuts to retiree benefits

A day after telling Iowans their beloved ethanol subsidies will have to go, Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty used a stop in senior-heavy Florida to call for reining in Social Security and Medicare benefits for future retirees.

He’s also planning to visit Washington to call for less-generous pay and benefits for public sector employees and to New York to call for an end to Wall Street bailouts

From wikipedia..

A recognizable and distinct voice was needed for the Tony the Tiger character. Initially, he was voiced by Dallas McKennon, but shortly after the initial Sugar Frosted Flakes advertisements aired, McKennon was replaced by Thurl Ravenscroft, who spent the next five decades providing the characteristic deep bass voice associated with the character, notably the familiar “They’re Grrrrreat!” catchphrase. John E. Matthews came up with this phrase while working as copywriter for Leo Burnett.

It’s from the the animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Boris Karloff sang the song that contains the lyric, and the cartoon was directed by animation genius Chuck Jones.

Don’t feel bad. Most people make the same mistake.

Ravenscroft was the uncredited vocalist of the song “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” in the Christmas television special based on the Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! His name was accidentally left out of the credits, however, leading many to believe (erroneously) that the cartoon’s narrator, Boris Karloff, sang the song.

It sounds like it sprang from the mind of a wannabe high-fantasy author.

Incidentally, this is why I could never write high-fantasy stuff. When I played the POR series (D&D computer game, in case anyone was wondering) my party characte’rs names were:

Fighter 1
Fighter 2
Fighter/Thief
Cleric 1
Cleric 2
Magic User

Very imaginative I am, when it comes to naming characters.

Indeed, but I am giving a few points for originality. The Chinless One and Kimmy Chia-head are grade A d-bags to be sure but they are mostly just evil dictators doing what dictators do. They also inherited their douchebaggery from their parents, making them products of a depraved childhood. Assange is a new category of douche-bag, media narcissism raised from the level of public nuisance to that of global menace.

John Labruzzo is back in the news today:
Louisiana Republican: Ban Abortion, Sterilize Poor Women and Pay the Wealthy to Procreate

Anti-abortion bill clears committee

The House Health and Welfare Committee voted 10-2 for heavily reworked legislation that seeks to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortions.
If the law is passed, oppo-nents said it would prompt costly and unsuccessful litigation.
The state health agency’s chief attorney Steve Russo said passage of the law would put $4.9 billion to $5 billion in federal health care funding for the poor at risk. Federal law requires states that participate in Medicaid to cover abortions in cases of rape and incest - the legislation doesn’t allow it.

You have the right to post what you want within site guidelines, and what you browse on your own time is no one’s business but yours - that said, I would be very happy to never, ever hear or read about the stalkers again. Acknowledging them = letting them win, giving in and participating in their twisted, sick obsession.

The exception would be to warn someone about an imminent threat (e.g. when they’re trying to “out” an LGF member for malicious purposes), or cybervandalism/nickjacking (like the fake Twitter accounts). But as to their inane, obsessive blathering? Repeating it here is like dropping the contents of a pooper-scooper bag on the rug.

NASA Unveils New Spaceship for Deep Space Exploration

NASA on Tuesday announced a plan to develop a new deep space vehicle, one based on an earlier capsule concept, in order to send astronauts on expeditions to an asteroid, and then on to Mars.

The spaceship, known as the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), will be based on designs originally planned for the Orion spacecraft, NASA officials announced today (May 24). Orion was part of NASA’s now-canceled Constellation program, which aimed to return astronauts to the moon by the 2020s.

Somehow I think the only reason we’re still putting so much money into space at this point is either to find a way to defend against a potential doomsday space object (or whatever the term is) or to find a backup place to live when we inevitably screw up the Earth.

Both perfectly valid reasons in my book.

re: #292 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)

Both perfectly valid reasons in my book.

But it’s all very…pessimistic as compared to visionary. Surely that money could be diverted to something a little more productive like our education system. As for space exploration, let the Chinese go to the moon for their propaganda presses and let Virgin Galactic take over down here.

It just doesn’t seem like something we really need to do for any visionary purpose anymore like it was during the Cold War.

From the strange but true file:

Truckie ‘blew up like balloon’ in freak accident

A New Zealand truck driver who inflated “like a balloon” when he fell buttocks-first onto a compressed air nozzle was described as lucky to be alive, a New Zealand newspaper reports.

Steven McCormack was working on his truck at Opotiki on the North Island on Saturday when he slipped between the cab and the trailer, dislodging the compressed air hose that feeds the brakes, the Whakatane Beacon reported.

It said the brass fitting that the hose had been attached to pierced Mr McCormack’s left buttock in the fall, sending compressed air rushing into his body.

The 48-year-old said he felt as if he was going to explode and began to scream as his neck, feet and hands swelled up.

“I was blowing up like a football… it felt like I had the bends, like in diving. I had no choice but just to lay there, blowing up like a balloon,” he told the newspaper.

Workmates rushed to Mr McCormack’s aid, turning off the compressed air and packing ice around his swollen neck.

AIPAC Attendees Say Jews Who Criticize Israel Are Traitors, Demand Loyalty To Netanyahu

The comments there are bad but they are even worse at the accompanying post at thinkprogress.com (not gonna link it):

Jonathan Pollard spied on this country for Israel. Just about every year Israel asks to have him released. That says volumes what they think of us as a “friend”.

what was the name of the U.S. ship Israel attacked again?

Exactly. Liberty means nothing to the Israeli population. I weep for what they had to go through to get where they are, but I despise them for seeking retribution for that by taking it out on their neighbors when it was Europe who was to blame.

Israel wouldn’t have nearly the problems it does today if it didn’t poke the bully with a sharp stick and then hide behind its big brother

AIPAC needs to be raided, all participants arrested and all foreign nationals ejected from the country. They’ve made their beds, let them sink or swim on their own. If they are truly the chosen people , they should have no problem asking their invisible skydaddy to hook them up with a magic shield or something

Yes, practice blind obedience, just like a good German, er, Israeli.

Seems they did not learn anything from their own history

They learned oppression works for them.

Demanding that Americans swear loyalty to a foreign leader? That sounds more than a little like treason to me.

A must watch video - former lawmaker Cynthia McKinney talking about how ALL US lawmakers are forced to support Israel

It seems that AIPAC are the traitors. actively putting the importance of a foreign country over their own. They should be expelled from this country so they can go live in the country that they love so much. Maybe put on a uniform and help oppress a people whose country they invaded. Sounds more like europeans than native americans.

college degree at least shows the person can complete a course of requirements that take 4 years and hopefully has a “professional” state of mind, has goals, wants to accomplish something.

From the report, Manning couldn’t hold a job. His Dad talked him in the military hoping it would help him mature.

You have a 22 year old, who before the military wasn’t in school, and couldn’t hold a job. Not someone I would want guarding my secrets and I don’t have that many, none of which would make the front page of the NYTimes or cause anyone to fear for their life.

For the record, I don’t have a college degree either. I also don’t expect to land a job that would give me access to sensitive information.

Psst, I’ve had a security clearance since the early 90s when I got tired of going to college. Most of the guys I served with in both security forces and communications never went to college, all of us had clearances.

The problem is Manning is a fuck up, not his education or the clearance process.

On that incident, I must say that I was ignorant of the fact that that was a racial slur. Prior, I’ve only heard it once in my entire life, and that was in a movie. And even at that, it took me a few seconds or more to figure out what it was referring to.

That in mind, if it comes to your attention that it is a racial slur, making excuses and trying to draw equivalencies only shows you for the ass you are.

338 TedStriker  Wed, May 25, 2011 12:37:55am

re: #337 Slumbering Behemoth

Unfortunately, I’d heard that slur before (on more than one occasion) on a video card enthusiast forum I’m a regular at, mainly from UK and English-speaking Commonwealth/European folk. There, those mods who knew what it meant made it clear that the word was not welcome, but up to that point, most of us Yanks had no idea until people made a stink about it.

The long and short of it is brookly should have backed off about it and said “my bad”, especially when Charles and others who knew what “Paki” was told them exactly what it was. Hell, when you have a Lizard of Pakistani extraction (I forget who it was at this point) tell you that it’s a racial slur most everywhere in the English-speaking world outside the US, you should listen.

But, brookly was bound and determined to butt heads with Charles over it…as they say, when you play with fire, you’re gonna eventually get burned.
