Breitbart Source for Weiner Smear Deletes Twitter Account

The smell of another fraudulent Breitbart story is getting stronger
Wingnuts • Views: 36,484

Today we find that Andrew Breitbart’s source for the smear attack against Rep. Anthony Weiner, Dan Wolfe (aka @patriotusa76) has deleted his entire Twitter account.

There’s been a bad smell about this story from the beginning, and it just got exponentially worse.

Meanwhile, the New Republic’s James Downie contacted forensic image analyst Hany Farid, who maintains a database of 15,000 cameras, phones, and tablets, and asked him to analyze the infamous crotch photo that started this whole ridiculous nontroversy. Farid discovered that the photo does not match any device in his entire database, whereas photographs taken by Rep. Weiner match the Blackberry profile: EXCLUSIVE: New Forensic Details About Weinergate Photo.

This means that the picture was either taken by a device not in Farid’s database — or it’s a fake that’s been manipulated in some way.

Somebody spray some air freshener in here. Andrew Breitbart’s rabid smear attempt against one of the most effective Democratic congressmen is reeking like a dead flounder.

For those people who might be a little slow on the uptake, the fact that the picture doesn’t match any device in the database means that it is a FAKE. Fauxtoshopped. Digitally enhanced. An all-around fraud.

Interesting that it doesn’t match any cameras, phones, tablets in his database, but what about if the image was obtained via a scanner? It sure seems though that this whole story is falling apart on closer inspection.

Technically, it means that the image didn’t directly originate from any optical device. It could’ve been simply cropped, or even just had a data format change (depending on the source and destination formats); nevertheless, the image was not taken from a camera and posted directly to yfrog. It was manipulated _somehow_.

Weiner made one mistake in particular.

Where he said “I can’t say with certainty that’s not a picture of me” (or something similar, I forget the exact quote) he should have said “hell no, that’s not me”.

Even if (and it might be) there’s embarrassing photos out there of him somewhere, it’s still plausible deniability.

60 webevintage  Fri, Jun 3, 2011 9:50:01am

The annoying thing about this story are the “journalists”.

Maddow is the only one on TV that I have seen make a effort to find out how someone else could use YFrog to post the picture or talk about photoshop. The rest of them are so excited to be talking about the fact that they have a new “sex scandal” and have no idea who computers or the intertubes work or seem to understand Breitbart slimy connection or that Dan Patriot dude and his online harassment of a 21 year old woman.
All they see is penis.
And all they seem to talk about is if it will ruin Weiner’s career or his marriage or cost the Dems 10 seats (Chris Matthews).

BTW, great puns….

Jamesfirecat’s Page.

Here are my thought on Rep Weiner’s statements about how he couldn’t say for certain weather or not the penis shown in the offending picture was his or not and why he would say it.

First of all lets assume that there are four possible outcomes…

1) It is his junk and he sent it.

2)It isn’t his junk but he sent it.

3) It is his junk, but he didn’t send it.

4) It isn’t his junk and he didn’t send it.

[…]

Read the whole thing.

My personal theory is that he’s keeping the possibility open for Jon Stewart’s sake.

Then, of course, there’s that wacky theory that his lawyer said something… :)

The problem for Weiner is not whether the photos real or not. The problem is that he has done such a poor job defending himself. Don’t take my word for it; check out Eugene Robinson’s column in Weiner.

[Link: www.realclearpolitics.com…]

Weiner is one of those people who is good at using rhetoric to attack or ridicule others but is incapable of defending himself when he is subject to attack or ridicule. Weiner’s nastiness (and the nastiness of other liberals like Rahm Emmanuel and Chuck Schumer) is one of the reasons why politics is keeping government from solving our country’s problems.
