Santorum: Doctors Providing Abortions to Rape or Incest Victims Should Be ‘Criminally Charged’

The Republican Party’s heartless war on women’s rights
Wingnuts • Views: 30,078

Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum says any doctor who performs an abortion should be arrested and “criminally charged” — even in cases of rape or incest.

This is the Republican Party’s idea of “limited government.”

Rick Santorum will drop out of the presidential race right after Newt Gingrich. The guy’s been out of work for four years and has seven kids to feed. You’d think he’d find another job already.

The GOP party has a plank of adding a personhood amendment to the Constitution, one that would define a person— and rights— as beginning at conception.

Santorum’s not a real candidate. This is just a job interview for the networks. He’s hoping CNN or MSNBC (Fox is overloaded with stupid already) will pick him up as an election season commentator (I really dislike that word, commentator, and yet it’s an actual word). He knows he doesn’t have a prayer as a national candidate - even among the evangelical minority. He just wants the attention and money. It’s time to start treating these people like the hucksters they are.

The Republican Fail Express just keeps on running….
Iraq says U.S. congressman, delegation not welcome in country

In widely reported statements after a meeting Friday with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, the California Republican said he informed the Iraqi leader that his House committee is investigating the killing of Iranian exiles by Iraqi forces.

Rohrabacher, the chairman of the Oversight and Investigation Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, also told reporters during a news conference at the embassy in Baghdad that he suggested Iraq repay some of the cost of the war.

31 PhillyPretzel  Sun, Jun 12, 2011 10:15:32am

Are there any real candidates in the race this year? It seems like every “front-runner” so far has either not officially joined the race, dropped out, or is playing it by ear. Think perhaps the only exceptions would be Cain and Romney.

re: #36 Killgore Trout

It’s really hard to believe how incompetent these guys are at diplomacy.

Rohrabacher asked for permission for the delegation to visit Camp Ashraf, but said the Iraqi government refused.

“The MEK is recognized in the U.S. as a terrorist organization,” Dabbagh earlier told McClatchy. “We would ask the administration whether they can accept a terrorist organization on U.S. lands. And if such an organization were on American soil, would you allow other countries to come and have a look at them, or is it exclusively a matter of the sovereignty of the United States?”

He said if the U.S. is concerned about the fate of the MEK members, “we would urge them to host them in the U.S. or in other countries.”

Rorhabacher’s comments were music to the ears of conspiracy mongers like Muqtada al-Sadr (aka Tater) and other Iranian sponsored subversives in Iraq. Anything that is good for Sadr is bad for our troops in the country and for Iraq’s future chances of remaining independent of the mullahs.

And the elevator for the Weiner scandal is going dowwwnnn.

TMZ posted new pics taken inside the House Members Gym. One is naked, others he’s grabbing his crotch.

[Link: photos.tmz.com…]

TMZ obtained the pics Weiner took of himself using his Blackberry and a mirror. Congressional sources have confirmed with TMZ … the backdrop is indeed the House Members Gym in the basement of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The pics were taken on both the gym floor and in the locker room.

TMZ has confirmed the pics were sent online to at least one woman.

The question that’s dogged Weiner since his news conference/mea culpa is — did he use Congressional resources during his cyber affairs?

He’s got to go!

I don’t think doctors are perfect by any means, but I trust them a lot more than I trust politicians in deciding issues like abortion, medical marijuana, and other such things.

Arresting doctors for giving the best care that they know how to their patients is not a good idea.

And this is a half-step away from arresting women.

47 Shiplord Kirel  Sun, Jun 12, 2011 10:40:35am

No doubt Obama has had to call Maliki to try to mitigate the damage from the Congress Clowns visit:

Obama: “You do understand, Nuri, that this Rorhabacher person is in opposition to my administration and does not make policy?”

Maliki: “Yes, yes, but he is still an important public figure, with a legislative position.”

Obama: “True but, uh, I’ll tell you what. He and this tea party faction are sort of our version of al-Sadr.”

Maliki: “As bad as that?”

Obama: “No, not quite, just similar, an analogy. He doesn’t have his own army for example.”

Maliki: “Ah! But I have seen from the media that he does have many armed supporters.”

Obama: “Er, I guess so, but his men are mostly too fat to cause any real trouble with their weapons, not to mention all the suburban houses and bass boats and other investments they don’t want to risk.”

Maliki: “Ok, Barack, I will try to do some damage control, tell people Rohrabacher is your enemy and can’t steal our oil even though he wants to. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t.

Obama: “That’s the best we can do, I guess.”

There could be a big upsurge in individual acts of violence, of the kind we have seen several times so far on a small scale, sniping, shoot-outs with the authorities etc. I don’t think these people can maintain enough organization and discipline to present a serious threat to the social order even on a local scale. The only exception would be in a catastrophic “shit-hits-the-fan” situation where real authority has broken down for some reason. Even then, the kooks could not take effective control, but their actions could seriously inhibit efforts to re-establish services and re-assert legitimate authority. Even this would only last as long as it took to assemble a strong enough force to subdue them.

Right, never meant to suggest that we’d see the fall of the federal government or anything like that. But there’s a long ways between a functioning society and full scale civil war. You’d really only need a core group of 500-2,500 to cause an amazing amount of havoc.

That is the great effort the right-wing media have put into undermining the legitimacy of the judicial branch over the last 25 years or so. It is an article of faith on the right that most of our problems are rooted in the tendency of liberal “activist judges” to make it up as they go along. Roe v. Wade is perceived as an activist ruling made by a liberal court during the Nixon administration. To hear Limbaugh, Hannity etc. tell it, the Ninth Circuit is a bunch of old hippies wearing Che t-shirts under their robes. The right accuses these judges of deviating from the intent and principles of the Founding Fathers. This may also be why they are so intent on re-writing the early days of the Republic and distorting the views and motives of the Founding Fathers. The overall effect is to portray the law as an onerous technicality in opposition to “true” American principles. Lawlessness fallows from this as surely as night follows day.

re: #53 McSpiff

I’m Canadian and I still think a lot of Americans are downplaying what could be a serious problem as a mere cultural oddity..

What was perhaps left specifically unspoken there but alluded to was “American Gun Culture” which means that the Lefties have them too. They do, there about twenty million more firearms in this country than there are citizens according to the ATF (although some studies place the number “as low” as 223,000,000). Sure the Righties like to go on at length about how the left fears and loathes guns and they could take over any time they wanted if they just got together and did it, but it isn’t true.

America has always been an armed nation, and we have had armed uprisings and splinter factions throughout our history, especially in the lead up to the civil war. Just as in our politics there is no overwhelming majority on either side, it would be a brutal bloody battle that would in the end simply return us to the status quo. For all their bluster I think that the vast majority of the Rightwing armed fringe groups realize this.

They continue to froth at the mouth about the perversion and constitutional drift of this country away from some idyllic era that never existed. If you know this countries history then you know that they are wishing for a shared delusion. :(

However except for a tiny few they also know they have no chance of overthrowing the government by force of arms. They will continue to rant and rave and lie and attempt to rewrite history in order to gain more converts to their side. Until they accomplish that and add substantially to their ranks nothing is going to happen. Funny, both the real ally and enemy in this endlessly brooding and entirely theoretical pseudo war is the media and how it is used to shape public opinion.

If ever we get to the point that NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN sound like FOX? Then this country will be lost.

His children will all be in psychotherapy when they get to college.

You don’t really think he’ll let them go to college? Where all those liberal elites are?

Unless it’s some whacked out religious college where they do exorcisms instead of psychotherapy….

That’s interesting how he thinks he can overturn established law like that.

Nothing new. Arizona aims to empower the state to ignore federal law, because fuck it.

An observation: The militia slobs and gunshop commandos who display their weapons at public events look a whole more serious to foreign eyes than they do to us. Just a fact, foreigners are not familiar with American gun culture, especially some of the fringe aspects. When they see guys in camouflage and waving black guns around, they assume an insurrection is right around the corner. Something to keep in mind.

Think about how many nations have one or more guerilla political groups running around hitting opportunistic targets.

Rick Santorum will drop out of the presidential race right after Newt Gingrich. The guy’s been out of work for four years and has seven kids to feed. You’d think he’d find another job already.

I think he gets wingnut welfare from someplace. Like he’s a “visiting scholar” or some such thing at some or another “institute”.
