Gotta have the pledge.
Why not two pledges?
It's twice as patriotic.

re: #277 Obdicut
Good point. The word "conservative" has certainly been twisted to no ends in this country. Strictly speaking, it means to conserve / preserve something. If by conservative, one meant to preserve the things in society that are good, to eshrew extremist ideas, to recognize that with power comes responsibility, and hence we should be cautious when considering new policy ideas, then I think most people are conservative at heart. Here, "conservatism" according in the GOP lexicon means to radically tear down the fabrics of society, destroying government departments & programs that help Americans in need, treating fellow humans with indifference, and creating a dog-eat-dog society. There is nothing particularly "conserving" about this sick mindset. This is radical zealotry at its worst - only that this is radicalism from the right, whereas traditionally (in the last 50 years) radicalism was mostly associated with the left. Radicalism, to the point of recklessly imposing a political experimentation on our nation like Ron Paul suggests, is actually the very opposite of conservatism.

re: #435 eclectic infidel
It -IS- Feudalism. In the GOP world, if you are rich, you pay no capital gains tax. You can buy the best healthcare and education for your children, and pass your entire fortune to them without tax, and they will never have to work. On the other hand if you are poor, you have no protection. Your children will have no decent education or opportunities, and they will work 16 hour shifts seven days a week, without "socialist" labor laws, like what happened in the 19th century. Thus, wealth begets wealth, poverty begets poverty. It is a system without social mobility. Your circumstances is dependent mostly by the fortune of birth. It is a nobility which the creation of the US was supposed to eliminate.
In fact, this right-wing system was so bad (nothing Ron Paul is suggesting is new, mind!) that in some countries which suffered the worst of its excesses, where the hungry masses were not able to change the system peaceably, they opted for COMMUNIST revolution because they had no choice.

Republicans refused to cut on buck from the defense budget despite Gates asking for it.
They didn't just refuse his proposed cuts, they lumped on a flotilla of earmarks, despite the supposed moratorium on them.

re: #487 Robert O.
In fact, this right-wing system was so bad (nothing Ron Paul is suggesting is new, mind!) that in some countries which suffered the worst of its excesses, where the hungry masses were not able to change the system peaceably, they opted for COMMUNIST revolution because they had no choice.
but the upper - middle class that used to be able to afford the best healthcare and education can no longer afford it because of TAXES. This is the problem, not the ultra-wealthy. They could give a shit. If tax increases truly only affected the ultra-wealthy that would be great, but they don't. They have lawyers and accountants to make sure they don't. Those of us who are working our asses off and should be comfortable are seeing our money buy pork rinds and coke for those who should be buying real food with it.
DON'T get me started.

Before I do the dishes, I'm calling it:
None of these clowns actually want to win. They're just here tonight to attack Obama. If this was a real primary debate, they'd be attacking each other, or at least claiming differences, even if they pretended to respect each other's positions.
This is not serious campaigning. This is GOP fighting with Obama as usual. No desire to win.
Cain is the only one who actually is distinguishing himself out of the pack at all, and even he is 90% gas.
