Rep. Louie Gohmert: Obama’s a Sekrit Muslim

Just a little more GOP anti-Muslim fear-mongering
Wingnuts • Views: 53,025

Remember Rep. Louie Gohmert and His Terror Babies From the Future? Well, the most aptly named member of Congress is back, doing that Gohmert thing, accusing President Obama of being a sekrit Muslim sympathizer.

GOHMERT: And I know the president made the mistake one day of saying he had visited all 57 states, and I’m well aware that there are not 57 states in this country, although there are 57 members of OIC, the Islamic states in the world. Perhaps there was some confusion whether he’d been to all 57 Islamic states as opposed to all 50 U.S. states. But nonetheless, we have an obligation to the 50 American states, not the 57 Muslim, Islamic states. Our oath we took is in this body, in this House. And it’s to the people of America. And it’s not to the Muslim Brotherhood, who may very well take over Egypt and once they do, they are bent upon setting up a caliphate around the world, including the United States. And this administration will been [sic] complicit in helping people who wants [sic] to destroy our country.

If Gohmert keeps chasing his tail around and around like that, will he turn to butter?

If they are, and not actually prepared to admit to bigotry, they're busy rationalizing the hate away as being something that "isn't a big voting factor for me" and pretending that they only vote GOP for the fiscal responsibility*.

* Which in itself is laughable given the GOP's "take out insurance and then set fire to the country" approach to fiscal management.

Would it surprise anyone to learn that Gohmert, like Rick Perry, is a high ranking Aggie? Gohmert was only commander of the Corps of Cadets, though, and not a majesticRedpot like Goodhair.
Despite his awesome rank in Aggiedom, Gohmert only served 4 years in the real army, as a JAG officer after he finished law school.

Gohmert is probably the most conspiracy friendly member of Congress since the departure of "Cynbat the Sailor" McKinney. Besides the terror babies and his appearance with Alex Jones, Gohmert has accused the FBI of "stonewalling" information about the political leanings of Tucson shooter Jared Loughner. He also suggested that the intervention in Libya is designed to stretch the military so thin that Obama's private military corps will be needed to take their place.

All I know is that the GOP is chock-full of people who want loyalty oaths for Muslims, laws to lock people up on suspicion of having dark skin, and school lessons free of the merest suggestion that anyone might be of the minority persuasion or (the HORROR) gay.

But keep telling yourself that Boehner, Cantor and the rest of those shiny-suited, grinning drones are just good guys, that it's just a few crazy uncles.

As they are with every advance of even one Black person. I encounter this idea a lot, people hoping it would go away after a couple years or simply just disappear. American history tells us something quite different.

When someone does not harbor that kind of prejudice themselves it is very hard to understand that others can internalize that kind of deep hatred towards another simply because of skin color or the shape of their eyes.

When I was a child the schools were still segregated and I saw my share of irrational racial hatred. Still I honestly did think that most of the racist attacks on Obama would go away over time, I was way too optimistic.

Having an African American President is apparently a thorn in their side they simply cannot ignore. They are becoming more and more strident and open about their racism every day. Seems I have underestimated the depths of their pathology.

Well, it might not be reported on site YOU read. When House Republicans selected Judiciary subcommittee chairmen in January 2011, they removed Gohmert from his post.

He doesn't speak for conservatives, or the GOP leadership.

From his official site:

Rep. Gohmert serves as the Vice Chair on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, which has jurisdiction over the following subject matters: Federal Criminal Code, drug enforcement, sentencing, parole and pardons, internal and homeland security, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, prisons, criminal law enforcement, and other appropriate matters as referred by the chairman, and relevant oversight.

People will do anything for socialist medicine.

The day Verone set out to commit his first felony, he mailed a letter to The Gazette.

He listed the return address as the Gaston County Jail.

“When you receive this a bank robbery will have been committed by me. This robbery is being committed by me for one dollar,” he wrote. “I am of sound mind but not so much sound body.”

Verone wanted to talk to a reporter to make sure people knew why he turned to crime. He figured he had nothing to lose.

“I knew that a felony would not hurt me. I cannot work anymore,” he said. “That felony is going to hurt my reputation.”

Obama very much just wants to be president and not a Black president. Of course, yes, for the history books, it's there, but when you hear him speaking about it - when he's asked about race - he sort of poo-poos the whole thing. I love these answers from him. He has a job to do and wants to do it. Agree with him, don't agree with him, but that's where he's coming from.

Also, p.s. segregation is very much alive and well TODAY. This I don't understand. I pass an all black public school on the way home from work each day. also from wiki:

The city's population increased more than sixfold during the first half of the 20th century, fed largely by an influx of European, Middle Eastern (Lebanese),(Assyrian/Chaldean), and Southern migrants to work in the burgeoning automobile industry. However, since 1950 the city has seen a major shift in its population to the suburbs. In 1910, fewer than 6,000 blacks called the city home; in 1930 more than 120,000 blacks lived in Detroit. The thousands of African Americans who came to Detroit were part of the Great Migration of the 20th century.
The city population dropped from its peak of 1,849,568 in 1950 to 713,777 in 2010, in part due to urban flight to the suburbs and a change in its jobs base. In the first decade of the 21st century, about two-thirds of the total black population in metropolitan area resided within the city limits of Detroit.

Not in Miami. Yes, there are mostly Black neighborhoods, but the mostly Cuban neighborhoods have mixed public schools. That was the entire point of Brown v. BoE anyway.

Go see Belle Glades Correctional institution. The Florida department of corrections tries very hard to keep it's prison system as integrated as possible, however more African Americans are sentenced to prison every year than people of European descent. Belle Glades is the catchall for the worst and most violent offenders in the system, it is the threat the staff at others institutions use (especially on whites), "If you keep acting up we will send you to Belle Glades."

Belle Glades population is close to 90% African American and is literally hell on earth for everyone no matter their race. Florida does not have a "supermax" prison with adequate security and separation protocols to keep extremely violent offenders away from each other. The Dept. of Corrections sends all their violent trouble makers who repeatedly physically assault other inmates to Belle Glades.

If you want to complain about segregation in Florida complain about the "Gladiator School" (that is what the inmates actually call it) at Belle Glades.

job flight...the Big Three took so many jobs down south it had a terrible result, but the Japanese were making mincemeat of their market shares...and cutting costs drove Delco under and hundres od smaller regional suppliers...it was a domino effect...you can look at the UAW and ask them their role, altho you wouldn't get a straight answer...business as usual wrecked Detroit, not racial issues

Well, most of the people I know who move move to be close to a new job. Some move to be out in the country. I would guess that a lot of the people who left Detroit had jobs elsewhere.

In order to prove that the problem is racism, you would have to show a similar map for a similar city without many minorities showing that white people stayed downtown.

A large part of the post-WWII shift to the suburbs was the belief that it's better for children to have elbow room and lawns and boredom.

The big WW in Detroit was really something. People came from all over to work as there was plenty of it. Open the window on a quiet summer night and listen to din of manufacturing from little shops everywhere. Got an extra bedroom, you can rent it to someone who came from wherever just to work. I thought you were going to say, "but without the pyramids".

I found a plethora of articles on the topic when I did that piece. I didn't post everything (but read through it when you get a chance).

There's a lot of weird talk, like closing prisons actually HELPS the prison system because it forces the courts not to convict so many people... or some Einstein revelation like that. Other articles focused on tent cities to house prisoners. In fact, they did that for awhile, but don't know if it's still being done. No air conditioning in Florida under a hot canvas tent? Pretty bad, but the worst of it is during hurricane season - they simply can't stay in tents.

I don't know. It's a miserable situation. Florida has been exporting its prisoners to other over-crowded prisons out-of-state also. Mostly immigrants or migrants - the very poor - and their families have no way of traveling to visit them, children, parents, etc.

My brother did that...has about five or six houses and a few four-plexes in Northern California and he lives off the rent. Says he likes ex-cons and people who have declared bankruptcy because they're desperate to have a home and pay their rent in cash - so he doesn't have to claim it as income. My brother did that...has about five or six houses and a few four-plexes in Northern California and he lives off the rent. Says he likes ex-cons and people who have declared bankruptcy because they're desperate to have a home and pay their rent in cash - so he doesn't have to claim it as income. He's a bit of a wing-nut though...thinks Obama's a muslim, hangs out with some guys who actually do have buried weapons up in the mountains "just in case"...but they are fun to get drunk with every once in a while.

Your brother's got the right idea. Mine is a bit like that too. He got into the pizza business a long time ago with someone who had pizza experience. My brother had none and totally relied on "Bill". A few weeks after they opened Bill was arrested because authorities learned his roommate was in a plastic bag, dead, and stored in the closet. Seems Bill didn't want to report his roommate dying of natural causes because he wanted to cash his roommates SS checks. My brother has all kinds of friends like that.

From the international Mummies conference here in SD last week:

The Iceman's Last Meal

[...]

Also at the meeting, researchers led by geneticist Angela Graefen of the Institute for Mummies and the Iceman reported that they have succeeded in sequencing the Iceman's whole genome, despite the highly fragmented nuclear DNA. The genome has already revealed some surprises. One preliminary finding shows that the Iceman probably had brown eyes rather than the blue eyes found in many facial reconstructions done by artists. [...]

Oh, he had ibex as his last meal.

And, as far as we know, he did not have a dog with pink hair.

Bachmann: Canada Did ‘No Stimulus’ (Oh Really?)

As Bloomberg reported in January 2009, this stimulus was CAN$40 billion, equal in then-current exchange rates to US$32.6 billion, over two years (a similar period as Obama's US$787 billion stimulus). If we make further adjustments, using IMF data for each country from the year 2008 for purchasing-power parity, per-capita GDP, and the much larger population of the United States, this would work out as very roughly equal to a stimulus of over US$360 billion if it were done here.

Follow up on the Great East Japan earthquake:

Fatalities : 15,412 – Missing : 7,475 = Total : 22,887 (down from 23,096 one week ago)

[...]

Combining Global Positioning System (GPS) and acoustic data, we detected very large sea-floor movements associated with this event directly above the focal region. An area with more than 20 meters of horizontal displacement, that is, four times larger than those detected on land, stretches several tens of kilometers long along the trench; the largest amount reaches about 24 meters toward east-southeast just above the hypocenter. Furthermore, nearly 3 meters of vertical uplift occurred, contrary to observed terrestrial subsidence.

[...]

Also 114,000 destroyed buildings, 91,000 partially destroyed buildings and 391,000 damaged buildings, have been counted so far.

For all of you at home, that is around 600,000 buildings damaged or destroyed – a substantial total, with still more to count.

It will take a long time for Japan to absorb all this loss.
