GWAR Singer Kicked Off of Fox News Red Eye for ‘Beheading’ Palin

Oderus Urungus gets on thin-skinned Sarah’s bad side

The shock-metal band GWAR has a bit in their show in which they decapitate politicians in effigy. I know, high class entertainment.

But when they put a simulated Sarah Palin’s neck on the simulated chopping block, suddenly their lead singer found himself no longer welcome on Fox News’s “comedy” show, Red Eye: GWAR Singer Oderus Urungus Quietly Kicked Off of Fox News Red Eye.

Since the dawn of GWAR, the band has been making statements about politics by decapitating replicas of politicians during their live shows.

Now, after performing the act on a prop version of Sarah Palin during their last tour, lead singer Oderus Urungus is no longer able to appear on Fox News’ Red Eye, hosted by Greg Gutfeld, because of negative backlash from right wing conservatives.

Urungus turned to his Twitter page to seek support from his fans. He tweets:

“I got canned because Sarah Palin complained that we disemboweled her. The nerve of that woman!”

and

“Sound off like you got a pair if you think it sucks that I am not on Red Eye anymore!”

Despite appearing on Red Eye semi-regularly, Urungus stopped receiving calls to be asked back. After trying to get in contact with the studio for months, he was finally able to discover the truth.

While passing through New York on a tour with GWAR, Urungus sat down with Gutfeld, shared a few beers, and found out he was no longer invited back to Red Eye because of the band’s treatment of the mock Palin.

During their discussion, Gutfeld expressed surprise at Urungus’ dismissal, but led the GWAR front man to believe the execution of a fake Sarah Palin upset Fox’s higher ups enough to remove him from the show.

One of my favorite musicians, Ginger from The Wildhearts, was a regular on Red Eye for a while. He's a funny guy and riffs well on TV. I'm sure Oderus has his frontman patter down - and how could the lead singer of a band like Gwar not be hilarious to talk to?

Sucks he got kicked off, though. Buncha onion skins over at that network, all as paranoid as their boss.

I actually think Gutfield is funny, though I seldom watch that show.. And while I think Fox is being overly touchy, this is one time where Fox News isn't actually doing anything wrong. They are free to invite or disinvite guests as they please. This was a business decision, meant to keep their audience happy.

In 2004, GWAR released War Party, an album devoted almost entirely to mocking the war on terror. In other words, a big eff-you to right-wingers at the time. Not to mention their usual barrage of gratuitous violence, ridiculously gross sex, and ruthless mockery of religion.

What the hell were they doing on Fox in the first place? GWAR's music and stage acts are the embodiment of everything that Fox's target audience fears and despises. This could not have ended any other way.

But there is always excitement in even that. However, this space junkie is already going through withdrawal. Real oversight is somewhat thankless, and it takes time they see better spent kissing babies and raising money.

And which national monument were you planning to sell off to afford the cost of replacing every F-16 in the inventory with an F-35? It's going to end up being like the F-22: Bought in small numbers to replace a few air-wings, with the others either being shut down or forced to soldier on with F-16s.

And note, that's assuming that all of our allies who've expressed interest in the F-35 actually buy in. A couple are getting twitchy, looking at the bird getting less capable in development while at the same time getting more expensive. In 2007, the US spent 16.143 billion on NASA, and 652.5 billion on the military. NASA is not, and never was, a "big ticket" program. We spend more than 40 times NASA's budget on the military, and nearly 100 times NASA's budget on social programs. To reference NASA as a significant contributor to the debt is laughably ignorant. The ROI of NASA spending in terms of technological advancement (not to mention jobs), however, is huge.

It's a shame this argument keeps getting trotted out by extremists, given it has so little basis in reality.

In 2004, GWAR released War Party, an album devoted almost entirely to mocking the war on terror. In other words, a big eff-you to right-wingers at the time. Not to mention their usual barrage of gratuitous violence, ridiculously gross sex, and ruthless mockery of religion.

What the hell were they doing on Fox in the first place? GWAR's music and stage acts are the embodiment of everything that Fox's target audience fears and despises. This could not have ended any other way.

I find that Rush Limbaugh and a number of other conservatives often have reasonable taste in music. I assume it is only because they do not listen too closely to it. why else would Rush's intro be a the riff from a song condemning American urban sprawl?

I just saw that Charles was going to update to Lion OS X and, since I got it about two hours after it released (yesterday afternoon for me), I just want to tell any Mac users that so far: I love it.

It's clear that Apple is going the tactile route with iPad interfaces etc. I really like the way they blended both into this latest system. It definitely is the biggest set of changes in the basic interface in one step since any other implementation of OS X.

So far, really nice. =) Works well on my beautiful (and still new) MacBook Pro. =)

It installed flawlessly. The hard drive spun a lot for about 10 mins the first time I logged in after installing it of course, but then it calmed down to normal levels (I expect it was still configuring lots of stuff, moving things around, rebuilding indexes etc....). Now it works as fast as ever and as smoothly as ever.

Just had to give everyone an update. I was talking about it on Google+ yesterday of course, but a lot of you aren't on that. =)

But, if you want an invite, lemme know your email and I'll send one over to you. =) It's kinda like a blend between Facebook and Twitter, and I like it a lot.

Anyway, just had to update you all in case you were wondering about this whole Lion OS X thing. It pretty much rocks so far for me. =)

Well, GWAR already preformed an effigy beheading of Obama in 2008, which apparently was not an issue with FNC or it's viewers.

It's the Palin effigy thing two years later that seemed to be an issue for FNC and it's viewers.

So this is much less a "Good For Them" incident, and much more a "Shit-Eating, Bug-Fucking, Hypocritical, Double-Standard Having" incident for Fox News.

All that being said, the F/A-18 is probably the best example of what happens when the designers get everything right. It's been America's premier strike plane since its introduction, and a modified variant even replaced the F-freakin'-14, for crying out loud. Granted, it doesn't really suit the Air Force's requirements all that well, but as a versatile all-in-one design, it suits the Navy just fine.

Evening folks. Had my thesis defense a couple hours ago.

Out of a possible score of 4.0 (we use the GPA number equivalent of the letters), and with the "average" passing grade of this grilling being 1.4-1.8, I escaped with a 2.266.

This was what I came up with.

At 1st glance, I would think/say the same, But it's well above the "average"

better indicator,, do you know where does the 2.2 put you percentile wise?

(i.e.,,, is that grade in the top 10%tile ,,,, 20%tile?? ect)

All that being said, the F/A-18 is probably the best example of what happens when the designers get everything right. It's been America's premier strike plane since its introduction, and a modified variant even replaced the F-freakin'-14, for crying out loud. Granted, it doesn't really suit the Air Force's requirements all that well, but as a versatile all-in-one design, it suits the Navy just fine.

Indeed - the Super Hornet has become one hell of a platform - even replacing the Growler.

Thanks. I'm going to iron out the rest of the design bits while I'm in Seattle from next week to October-ish then have the final book published before graduation which is around Halloween.

The idea sprung out of my infamous cynicism, really. I'd imagine this is the "base" for a type of cleanup vehicle that would be used for high tides in a post-AGW world.

This is the point of those cheesy Carfax commercials. Yes, the car dealer was sleazy and probably would've refused to give him one; but that should be a red flag in and of itself. I don't think the victim was treated fairly, but he certainly should've been more aware of what he was doing when he was buying.

We had that in Frankfurt last week: temps fell by nearly 20°F in a matter of minutes, but it was still just as unpleasant as it was before, less hot but even more muggy.

Yeah, the part that didn't make sense to me,

iirc (just scanned the story) he bashed into 7 vehicles,, one of which was a "rare Mustang',, but the damages were only 20K!?!?!?!

But he wasn't very smart if he only did 20k in damage. Hitting the door frame would have been worth another 3-4k per vehicle. Fenders can get replaced, but the cage would have to be cut and repaired and the car possibly totaled.

What is the latest on the precious child?

He is being evaluated for microtia, which is a condition where the external ear and ear canal are incompletely developed. This can totally be corrected by surgery and complete hearing restored, but as you can well understand my son is pretty freaked out about it. The baby is perfectly healthy and normal in every other respect and I want to see PICTURES but I guess they can't send any while the infant is still being evaluated.

My daughter-in-law is recovering from a C-section. I talked to her yesterday and she sounded exhausted, my son too as he did not sleep all Tuesday night.

I really want to go to Florida for the bris, the question is just they don't know yet if it will take place on time (the 8th day) or be postponed.

Well, my son's story at birth was club feet, both turned inwards and the soles facing backwards. On a scale of 1-10... he was a 10 in severity.

But after several operations and spending his first two years having his legs in casts, he has enjoyed near normal use. Good enough to play competitive hockey for 12 years and become an officer in the US Army.

We live in wondrous times concerning research and medical procedures.

I feel for Alouette's family and am thankful yours is over the surgery part and all has healed.

I couldn't imagine sitting in the waiting room while my infant was in surgery. I'd have to be medicated --the anxiety would be so great.

I for one am glad I had my education early in life and learned the truth in how we humans "evolved". We were brought to Earth by the great Xenu in DC-8 like aircraft.

My son at 15 had surgery to repair a broken bone and it went an hour over the expected time. They didn't come and tell me anything.

I thought I was going to implode in the waiting room.

Then the idea of my son waking up in recovery and his finding his mom was admitted . . .the anxiety provoked such horrible thoughts, it was truly a horrible hour.

Didn't find out till he was going into kindergarten that he did have a eye "problem" One of the cones didn't fully develop. For a year he wore a patch over the "good" eye forcing the other to strengthen by doing all the work

He does wear glasses (he's 17 now) but the anxiety back then was that the surgeries he had as an infant MUST HAVE (in our minds) caused the eye problem. Upon further research and multiple specialists telling us otherwise, we came to the realization that the two problems were unrelated

News Corp is lawyering up in the US. It's a prudent thing for them to do considering what's at stake, but it also signals the possibility that the scandal is heading to this side of the pond.

At the same time, the scandal looks like it's spreading to other outlets in the UK beyond News Corp affiliates, and Cameron's government took another hit when it was revealed that Coulson wasn't vetted under the usual procedures before becoming press secretary.

Buchanan was this close to being an outright denier, when he wrote something about "Demjanjuk's weapon of murder cannot kill", which in fact would imply that Treblinka and it's 800,000 victims was a lie. After all, Buchanan wasn't simply stating that witnesses might have gotten this detail wrong, no, he basically was ready to ditch the whole camp history.

(Though in the end he had a shadow of a point - diesel was not used in Treblinka (but rather a gasoline engine), and Demjanjuk wasn't Ivan the Terrible, but Buchanan got there by taking a very wrong road.)

It bears a striking resemblance to several pieces of "model legislation" recently leaked from The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and might be the newest testament to the organization's potency.

The mission of the Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act of 2011 (H.R. 2018) is self-evident in its title. It would eliminate, wholesale, the EPA's power to supersede individual states' water pollution rules. States would no longer be held to federal water quality standards they disagree with, and the EPA would be unable to make changes to Clean Water Act quality standards without states' approval.

Down with clean water! So, in light of the recent state budget debacles (i.e. states going bankrupt) what are the plans for having these states (who are broke) bearing the majority burden of regulating water quality standards? So the people would see their Federal tax rates remain level while their state tax bill would go up. Sooner or later someone will have to pay for it. Even the states. Unless the state decides, "hey we like dirty water" and do nothing about it. But that would subject them to liability because water quality tends to "flow" across state boundaries. State "A" can say "screw clean water" while it's upstream from State "B" who says "we like clean water". State "B" would have to then sue State "A". This is starting to sound like Ron Paul libertarian policy.

Ghana cracks down on gays


Ghana’s Western Region Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo MP has ordered the immediate arrest of all homosexuals in the country’s west.

Aidooo has tasked Ghana’s Bureau of National Investigations and security forces to round up the country’s gay population and has called on landlords and tenants to inform on people they suspect of being homosexuals.

“All efforts are being made to get rid of these people in the society,” he said.

Good afternoon, lizards! I took a day trip into NYC yesterday and the busiest American town is still busy! We saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit and it was soooo amazing. Mosy of the outfits were not behind plexi glass cases and my daughter said it was a wonder that people were not flinging themselves on the clothes.
The locals werre complaining about the heat but it did not seem that bad to me.

An ad that told me that now was a good time to invest in gold, an ad letting us know what a swell guy Allen West is, and an ad for the book "The Patriots Toolbox: THE Source for Tea Party Activists."

The idea that three different representations of the wingnuttia are giving their money to Charles tickled me so much that I kicked in my own small contribution.

I would have considered subscribing to turn off the ads, but honestly, I'm kind of enjoying the idea that these guys are completely wasting their money. :-)

Yeah, I thought about subscribing, but PayPal wanted me to set up an account -- and my last experience with PayPal (years ago) had *far* from optimal results. Rachel Maddow did a segment about this last night. Apparently he is trying to scrub the website of the "endorsers", or at least bury the link to the list under the FAQ section.
You have to go almost to the bottom of the FAQ page to see the question:
Who else will be there? to find the link to the endorsers

Strangely, if you click on the Spanish language link, the endorsements are still on the main menu.

True. But I have time to play Mass Effect 1 & 2 before The Old Republic comes out, and ME3 will have to wait until next May for me, since it comes out in March and I'll be in the middle of school and gearing up for SXSW then.

I feel your pain. I'm going to have to wait on ME3, too, for the same (school) reasons. I fear I might go crazy by summer, though.

Hi folks, I'm back from seven days of detox, no noticeable withdrawal, not with the twice a day Seconal dose and a few other pills along the way.

Now the ball is back in my court, meetings, meetings, meetings and yet more meetings, time to make a new social network that does not involve (and actually excludes) alcohol use.

Anywho...I probably will not be posting here as much but I still hope to come up with a page now and then. Attending 3 or 4 hour long A.A. meetings a day plus the transit time there and back is seriously going to cut into my accustomed 'web research' and posting time allotment. ;) (probably not entirely a bad thing)

Not like I have much choice, drinking like I have been lately is just a kind of slow suicide, time to try to claw my way back to normality. Any prayers or wishes for good Karma will be appreciated. Thank You.

Heh. I'll be in the middle of my last semester of grad school when ME3 comes out. Better to wait and graduate with my degree first, then play it after I get a job with a real paycheck. Hehe.

Dude, WTF happened?

I spent over three years caring for my parents 24/7/365, I lost Mom in November, and then Dad in February. I'd love to blame losing my sobriety on that but any alcoholic will tell you that it was my choice, and it was.

By the time I realized how much alcohol had taken control again it was too late for me to quit without medical support for the withdrawals.

Time to start fresh again...but I am not going to do that on my own secluded in this Condo, time to build some social support.

Indeed. Keeping your own counsel is the worst thing a person can do when fighting addiction. That's how we end up in the middle of one. I hope you find some good people to help you.

Our dingaling governor up here in the Great State of South Canada, Paul "38%" LePage, hopped on theresponse bandwagon almost immediately, signing his proclamation on June 6th.

For those not aware of the story, we had Republican, Democratic and Independent candidates for governor in last year's election; the Democrat and Independent kept pissing on each other the entire campaign, which allowed Governor Tea Party to sneak in with 38% of the vote.
