Fox News Anchor: Lunar Volcanoes Disprove Global Warming

For fans of inadvertent humor
Humor • Views: 51,251

The Fox News anti-science agenda sometimes results in hilariously stupid moments like this one, in which a Fox News anchor reacts to the discovery of volcanoes on the moon by saying:

Does it go, you know, anywhere close to the climate change debate that’s under way here on Earth, I mean, you know, if the moon had erupting volcanoes, uh, a few years ago, well, a few million years ago, however you want to put it, uh, you know, it’s not like we’ve been up there burning fossil fuels.

Hah! Gotcha there, didn’t I, egghead?

(Check out the look on Bill Nye’s face after this mind-bogglingly dumb question.)

"a few years ago, well, a few million years ago, however you want to put it."

That just about says it all. What's a few million years between friends? Dinosaurs, Adam, Eve, pretty much all part of the same big volcano-ridden dumping-ground that we call planet earth.

You might know them as environmentalists, enviro-communists, eco-Marxists, neo-Communists or eco-fanatics. They all claim they want to save the world from global warming but their true agenda is to contribute to create a world government lead by the UN or in other ways increase the transfer of resources (redistribute resources) from the developed Western world to the third world. They hope to accomplish this through the distribution of misinformation (propaganda) which they hope will lead to increased taxation of already excessively taxed Europeans and US citizens.

That’s exactly what is happening with the Anthropogenic Global Warming scam; too many people are too demoralised to assess true information about Socialism, Communism, and climate change to allow its use for other agendas on the hands of the useful idiots “the leftists” as former KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov calls them.

Enviro-communism is a new twisted idea of redistribution of wealth through “environmental” policies and the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference 2009 is the perfect manifestation of it. Environmental Justice is the new Social Justice; Climate Debt is the new Redistribution of Wealth, Anthropogenic Global Warming scam is the Communism.

Under current Copenhagen draft treaty, developed countries are expected to fund clean energy in developing countries, which could result in an annual transfer of almost € 100 billion per year by 2020.

In a move that the American Family Association described as “not in our normal operating budget,” the Mississippi-based hate group will give more than $100,000 to promote the state’s personhood amendment ahead of its November vote. Proposition 26, which provides that “[t]he term ‘person’ or ‘persons’ shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof,” amounts to an unconstitutional statewide ban on abortions, but it could also interfere with birth-control access. AFA, which was designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2010, is best known for making absurd anti-gay claims such as blaming Nazi Germany’s brutality on “homosexual soldiers.”

While WorldNetDaily frequently echoes the Tea Party’s right-wing reading of the Constitution and view of the Founding Fathers, WND’s Robert Ringer actually blames the Founders and the Constitution for the “breakdown” of democracy. Ringer says that the replacement of the Articles of Confederation with the Constitution was a disaster for democracy that has ultimately helped President Obama, who Ringer sees as the next Hitler, establish a “communist dictatorship” with his allied “fascistic socialists in Washington”:

Of all the dictators over the past hundred years, I believe Obama's rise to power mirrors that of Adolf Hitler's more than anyone else. I know, I know … I can practically hear readers chuckling. Enslaved people throughout history have a propensity for chuckling – until they wake up one morning and find themselves in chains. So, by all means, feel free to chuckle – but do hear me out.

I have noticed the recent wingnut trend to equate the Nazis with communists as left wing authoritarians. All dictators are officially left wing, no matter what their actual policies or beliefs. Apparently, there is no such thing as right wing dictatorships...since right wing conservatism is now redefined to automatically exclude authoritarian right wing types. It is "No True Scotsman" as official propaganda policy.

Since one side is prepared to shoot the hostage, and the other side is not, I think we can guess how this will turn out.

There are enough Republicans in the House who will caucus with the Democrats on the Reid plan (which isn't that different from the Boehner plan) in order to pass it...we only need about two or three dozen of them. The big question is, will Boehner let the House vote on the Senate bill, or will he play "fuck you" with the economy?

Blockquote>Our focus should be on stopping Barack Obama and his Marxist allies in Washington from establishing a communist dictatorship – politely referred to by conservative media commentators as an "imperial presidency."

Didn't Nixon and Reagan have one of those?

The presidencies of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were particularly described as surrounded by "courts", where junior staffers acted on occasions in contravention of executive orders or Acts of Congress. The activities of some Nixon staffers during the Watergate affair are often held up as an example. Under Reagan (1981–1989) the role of Colonel Oliver North in the facilitation of funding to the Contras in Nicaragua, in explicit contravention of a United States Congressional ban, has been highlighted as an example of a "junior courtier's" ability to act, based on his position as a member of a large White House staff. Howard Baker, who served as Reagan's last Chief of Staff, was critical of the growth, complexity and apparent unanswerability of the presidential "court".

And George W.?

President George W. Bush has used his interpretations of the Constitution and the fear of terrorism in the United States after the events of September 11th to maneuver around this system of balancing power between branches of government to increase his own Executive powers, making himself an Imperial President.

Those Communists!

These idiots are trying to invalidate Freedom of Religion, a right established in the Constitution as it stands, to specifically outlaw ONE religion?! Madness.

Hell, why stop at one?

They never stop at one.

Since one side is prepared to shoot the hostage, and the other side is not, I think we can guess how this will turn out.

I think we will go for about two weeks in default, personally. Remember, we get the government we voted for and deserve.

re: #95 Lidane

You really think all those Know-Nothing mouth breathers in the House GOP will be able to get their shit together long enough to pass anything?

I'm not that optimistic. They're convinced that default is a GOOD thing.

They'll get some Dem votes, at least enough to make up for the GOP defectors.

Because that's worked so well in the past.

Yeah, totally. Love Canal and Picher, OK and Centralia, PA are shining examples of how industry profit and environmental conscientiousness go hand-in-hand, amirite?

They will not stop until only The True One is left, and then make sure that they limit tat to the True Among the True.

I don't think so. The Reid version will get Dem votes in the House if Boehner even lets it come up for a vote...but it is far from clear any Republican will vote for it. They are far more terrified of a suicide primary from their own party then letting the lights go out on all of us.

I want to carefully avoid getting inside the head of the news anchor. However, his comment reminded me of an assertion I heard on a Discovery Channel show recently along the lines that climate change can increase volcanic activity. Scientists are looking at a link, apparently:

I am actually surprised the Right hasn't tried to blame Obama for all global warming yet.

re: #21 SanFranciscoZionist

I don't even understand what his point is. He thinks volcanoes are caused by burning fossil fuels?

I THINK (and I can't be sure cuz I don't speak idiot) his point is that volcanoes cause global warming (where he's getting that from, I have no idea) so it's just further proof that humans have nothing to do with climate change. I know, it makes my head hurt also.

re: #12 Charles

They've already latched onto it. I got a hate mail this morning about it.

The paper they're crowing about is by Roy Spencer -- the creationist. Unless his results are confirmed by reputable scientists, I have no problem completely dismissing it out of hand.

I posted a link. The paper is full of assertions of how things aren't as bad as 'alarmists' say they are. Well, there are alarmists and alarmists. In any distribution of opinion there will be one or two out there ahead of the data.

So what if the add-on effects of cirrus clouds aren't as bad as a few projections foresaw? The direct effects of CO2 are quite enough to make us a real problem. If this summer isn't enough to convince us that an extra few degrees C is still a few too many, what will be? [I guess we'll find out the hard way.]

In short, the conclusions the popular article draws from the allegedly scientific article are not justified by that other article, even if it did contain some good science. Which, as you note, is open to doubt.

If they could blame Obama for it while not actually having to acknowledge its existence, they would have done it long ago.

Rush told my dittohead brother that one volcanic eruption releases more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere than all man-made sources do the whole year.

You know what pisses me the hell off? That Bill Nye had to start with "Science is true." Seriously.

I grew up watching Bill Nye so this is extra painful. I guess being strident and malevolently stupid is a job qualification at FOX.

I watched it, too. It's obvious that no one at Fox ever did. Is it too late for them to start?

Hey, there were people skiing in Montana on July 4th!

There were lots of cold days in the winter!

Doesn't that disprove global warming???

118 yoshicastmaster  Fri, Jul 29, 2011 5:08:02am

ahhhh HAHAHAHAHA

omg watching this was hilarious. it was like watching a patient scientist explain something to a child.

"if you want to get into mathematics and algebra..." WOA BILL, slow down! he might now get lost!

119 yoshicastmaster  Fri, Jul 29, 2011 5:09:39am

omg and then the anchor tries to slip in a comment justifying parking the shuttles, which is really a budget question, and bill doesn't want to have it.

loving bill right now. as usual.

re: #21 SanFranciscoZionist

It seems like a really big non sequitur no matter how you look at it. The only thing I can figure is that he's trying to connect volcanic activity and climate change by trying to get Bill Nye to say that the volcanic eruptions on the moon are what caused it to be a dead satellite--thus we shouldn't be worried because the moon is a dead rock without the benefits of greenhouse gasses? And even that bizarre connection is too far-fetched for brain cells to really latch on.

121 renata39.5  Fri, Jul 29, 2011 9:44:08pm

Also, I think I rehashed what two people already said. Notes for next time: be awake, read all the comments, then post. haha
