Pamela Geller Edits Post to Conceal Violent Rhetoric in ‘Email from Norway’

Ineptly hiding the evidence of incitement
World • Views: 117,510

In June 2007, “counter-jihad” blogger Pamela Geller posted the following Email from Norway, from a reader who sounds a lot like the Oslo terrorist, Anders Behring Breivik.

This is what the post looks like today:

I am running an email I received from an Atlas reader in Norway. It is devastating in its matter-of-factness.

Well, yes, the situation is worsening. Stepping up from 29 000 immigrants every year, in 2007 we will be getting a total of 35 000 immigrants from somalia, iran, iraq and afghanistan. The nations capital is already 50% muslim, and they ALL go there after entering Norway. Adding the 1.2 births per woman per year from muslim women, there will be 300 000+ muslims out of the then 480 000 inhabitants of that city.

Orders from Libya and Iran say that Oslo will be known as Medina at the latest in 2010, although I consider this a PR-stunt nevertheless it is their plan.

From Israel the hordes clawing at the walls of Jerusalem proclaim cheerfully that next year there will be no more Israel, and I know Israel shrugs this off as do I, and will mount a strike during the summer against all of its enemies in the middle east. This will make the muslims worldwide go into a frenzy, attacking everyone around them.

Before, I thought about emigrating to Britain, Israel, USA, South Africa, etc. for taxes and politics, but instead (although I believe we are the very last generation on earth before the return of God) I will stay and fight for the right to this country and indeed the entire peninsula, for the God-fearing people, just in case this isn’t the end of the world after all. Doesn’t hurt to have a backup plan.

It’s far from impossible to achieve, after all my people has done it every time before, in feats that match the ancient greek, hebrew and british “legends”.

Oslo and the southeast may fall easily, but there are other lines than “state”-borders drawn across this country since long before there was even a single muslim in the world, and we have held them this long, against everyone else too. We are entering a new golden age for my people, and those of a handful other countrys, but only through struggle.

Never fear, Pamela. God is with you too in this coming time.

But Pamela Geller’s guilty conscience is showing again, because as a matter of fact, she edited her post very recently to take out the most incriminating line. The Internet Archive has a copy of the original:

As you can see, the line Geller edited out is:

We are stockpiling and caching weapons, ammunition and equipment. This is going to happen fast.

Google’s cache also has a copy of Geller’s page, captured on June 30, 2011 — and the line about “stockpiling weapons” was still there at that time.

Obviously, Pamela Geller is going through her archives and scrubbing any violent rhetoric related to Norway, and equally obviously, she’s doing it to cover her tracks.

UPDATE at 7/29/11 12:05:27 pm

In the comments for Geller’s post, she implies that she knows the identity of her anonymous emailer:

turn said…

There’s an Old Testament blood-bath comin’.
Question remains: Are there enough Norsemen that will hear the Wyking song pulse in
their veins?

Or will they rely on their Norske and EU’s eunuch ‘leadership’?

Season after season Norway (and Sweden) are conceding whole neighborhoods populated by ‘immigrants’ as no-go zones. Police and EMS won’t respond there. It’s the friggin’ death-cry of civilization when the barbarians can intimidate in this manner.

So…yes. A very nice letter to you, Pam, from a Norwegian Atlasite (Atlasonian?). Unfortunately, he or she could be prosecuted under hate-speech laws for writing or posting in Norway what you have passed on to us.

UPDATE at 7/29/11 12:09:11 pm

LGF reader goddamnedfrank observed the now-deleted line on Geller’s site on July 25th, proving that it was edited after the Norway atrocities.

UPDATE at 7/29/11 12:15:27 pm

The line about “stockpiling weapons” was quoted at Free Republic yesterday: Email From Norway (Pamela Keller publishes letter from Brevik in 2007?)

So it’s clear that Geller edited her post within the last 12 hours, probably because it was being quoted at other sites.

This isn't altering something she said, either, which I think she'd have the right to do.

This is editing a text to make it appear different than what it was. That distorts it.

If she had even a shred of decency she'd be sending the author's information to Norwegian authorities. Instead she's trying to hide evidence of violent Norwegian extremists who are stockpiling weapons and preparing for war.

17 Olsonist  Fri, Jul 29, 2011 11:22:10am

You can assume that Geller knows who the email is from. Unfortunately, the passage:

We are stockpiling and caching weapons, ammunition and equipment. This is going to happen fast.

could have been deleted because of Breivik's terrorism rather than because it was from Breivik.

Still, it is a piece of data. Certainly it isn't the only example of Geller covering her tracks. We need more examples. The more she tries to cover her tracks, the more it says about her communications.

The one part of the email that seems like Breivik is:

It's far from impossible to achieve, after all my people has done it every time before, in feats that match the ancient greek, hebrew and british "legends".

The manifesto 1.22 is big on legends.

That's a remote possibility, but this isn't merely someone else posting that kind of thing on her site. She specifically chose to run that email to her and protected that person's identity.

Now, she's scrubbed it specific language that could potentially relate to the massacre.

If investigators do come asking about who the emailer was, the messages, and other communications, she might find herself in trouble for hindering an investigation (destruction of evidence/obstruction of justice) but I don't see that happening just yet.

I'm going to go out on a limb, risk downdings, and say that the fact that the attack happened in Norway is a sign that the Radical Right there is being squeezed. Norway has more resistant than most of Europe to the bigotry bug.

Think of it like that point in the Dark Knight where Alfred said (paraphrased) that after the criminals where so heavily pushed, that the Joker was unleashed as push back. Certainly the terrorist was a lone-wolf. However, he is indicative of the fact that the far-right in Norway is much more unpleased with the Norwegian Government than the far-right in other nations of Europe (Including the Netherlands, where the Far-Right are de-facto in control).

Also, the guy who was arrested in the past 48 hours in Finland for trying to buy a large amount of fertilizer. Finland acts in the same way as Norway in many cases.

Norway and Finland are ruled by democratically and legally elected governments. As is most of Europe and the USA.

The extent to which fringe elements are displeased with the people whom their fellow citizens have chosen to represent them is more a reflection on the character of the fringe elements and of the level of discourse in the blogoshpere and other channels of communication available to them than on what their governments are up to.

This has resulted in the fringe getting angry and desperate. Which makes them more likely to be violent. In fact, I would posit that these 8 nations are more under threat of Far-Right terror than Islamist terror.

re: #74 Spocomptonite

Section 216 of the USA PATRIOT Act would extend this low threshold of proof to Internet communications that are far more revealing than the numbers dialed to or from a telephone, and to portions of e-mail communications that cannot readily be separated from content. Section 216 gives law enforcement agents who obtain pen register and trap and trace orders access to "dialing, routing and signaling information." The bill does not define those terms. They would apparently apply to law enforcement efforts to determine what websites a person has visited. This is like giving law enforcement the power -- based only on its own certification -- to require the librarian to report on the books you had perused while visiting the public library. This is extending a low standard of proof -- far less than probable cause -- to "content" information even while Section 216 purports to exclude content.

The contents of a telephone call are readily separated from the telephone numbers dialed to and from a telephone. However, the same cannot be said of an e-mail address and the contents of an e-mail message. This information moves together in packets. To execute the pen register and trap and trace orders authorized by Section 216, somebody must separate the e-mail address from the contents of the e-mail message of the target. The FBI's answer to this problem is troubling. It obtains access to the entire message. Then, it asserts that it can be trusted to separate the addressing information to which it would be entitled under a pen or trap and trace order from content, and retain only the addressing information.

Moreover, the FBI sometimes uses the "Carnivore" Internet surveillance system to perform this function. Carnivore gives the FBI access not only to all of the target's communications, but to the communications of non-targets as well, who use the same Internet Service Provider as does the target. Section 216 would worsen the problem by giving the FBI access to communications of non-targets and to portions of the target's communications to which it is not entitled under the court order it obtained. The "trust us, we're the government" solution the FBI proposes is entirely unacceptable and inconsistent with the Fourth Amendment. While Section 216 requires reports on the use of Carnivore, it will likely result in more use of the system.

They were all stranded on the rocks and Earl came up with the idea of feeding Bert's homemade "bombs" to the Graboids...

Bert asks..."How much time?"

Earls says.. "about 15 seconds, I think. What's that?"

Bert says... "Cannon Fuse"

Earl asks.. "What do you use that for?"

Bert looks at him like hes dumb as a rock and says... "My cannon!".

Soldier shouts alleged Fort Hood killer name in court

[Link: news.yahoo.com...]

"WACO, Texas (Reuters) - Army soldier Naser Jason Abdo shouted the name of a military psychiatrist accused of a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, during his first appearance in court on Friday on a charge related to an alleged terror plot.

Abdo, 21, was formally charged with illegal possession of a firearm two days after his arrest in a Killeen, Texas, motel room in possession of suspected bomb-making materials.

"Abeer Qassim al-Janabi Iraq 2006; Nidal Hasan, Fort Hood, 2009," Abdo shouted at the media as he was led out of the Waco courtroom.

The name Al-Janabi refers to a 14-year-old girl who was raped and murdered by American soldiers in Iraq in 2006. Several soldiers have been charged and sentenced, including a soldier from Midland, Texas.

Nidal Hasan is a military psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people and wounding 32 at a medical facility on Fort Hood in 2009. Hasan, who is in a wheelchair after being shot by police during the attack, faces court martial next year."
..............
"He was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a call from Greg Ebert, an employee at a Killeen gun shop, who told Reuters he was concerned when Abdo bought ammunition and smokeless powder.

It was the same gun shop where Hasan bought his weapons two years ago."

Really?! Same shop?!

Abeer Qassim al-Janabi Iraq 2006 - that's referring to case where US soldiers were accused of raping and murdering a 14 year-old girl, and the murder of her parents and sister. Two soldiers were convicted of murder and 3 others entered guilty pleas.

The soldiers were from Fort Campbell (Abdo's former base when he went AWOL).

What is smokeless powder?

The modern propellant for cartridge firearms, often called cordite though that's just one family of smokeless powders. Compared to traditional gunpowder (black powder) smokeless powders are generally much more powerful and produces far fewer combustion byproducts (smoke.) They're also less sensitive to heat and shock and are easier to ship and store.

a 1966 war film based on occurrences during the Algerian War (1954–62) against French colonial occupation in North Africa, the most prominent being the titular Battle of Algiers. It was directed by Gillo Pontecorvo. The film has been critically celebrated and often taken, by insurgent groups and states alike, as an important commentary on urban guerilla warfare.

I missed a few spots in it, and as it was subtitled, maybe some important parts. But all in all it was a very compelling movie. Anyone seen it?

It's a strange world we live in. Individuals who choose to engage in public speech can now do so, and reach a much wider audience than ever before. But, they can also go back and effectively change the past much of the time. If nobody had noticed that post before Pam did, she might have been able to change it without anyone knowing the difference. Google cache only reaches so far back, so if it had escaped notice for a little while longer, it would have been very difficult to prove she had ever typed the sentence under discussion.

As much as the stalkers love to prattle on about memory holes and the like, there is a real issue there. History, especially relatively recent history, is far more voluminous than ever before, and far more malleable.

Had nobody noticed, Crazypants Geller might have been able to un-say what she had said before. It's not like there's an internet print edition to check back on. All we have is caches and wayback machines, which are unreliable on a good day, and limited in storage capacity.

Also, this guy was saying they apologized to the Bosnians for the atrocities. I called bullshit, and decided to add another crime to the record for him to deal with: The Albanian Genocide of 1912-1913. Somewhere around 10-25% of Albanians were killed in a 12-18 month period.

Also, I twisted the knife, pointing out how much the sick bastard in Norway liked what the Serbians did the 90's, as well as praising Biden and his son. Wikipedia below elaborates on why Serbia doesn't like Biden:

During the 1999 NATO attack on Slobodan Milosevic's Serbia, he appeared on Meet the Press (9 May 1999) and called for "a Japanese-German style occupation of that country, while his son publicly praised the Albanians' resolve in expelling the "degenerate thugs" from Kosovo". Due to these statements, during his official visit to Belgrade in 2009 he was met with heavy criticism branding him racist from media and public figures alike as well as numerous protests against his visit.

There's an interesting idea for a web app: A cache / search engine that maps changes to specific websites in .diff files, in a manner similar to git.

Anybody have a few hundred hours of disposable time? It would be a hell of a resource, albeit a rather difficult programming exercise. (Probably extremely resource intensive to run as well.)

Yeah, huge a mirror of the internet, only like Wikipedia's history pages.

My thought is, self-identification like the FLDS's use of "fundamentalist" is a different issue than imposition of a term by a 3rd party. Same for Independent Fundamental Baptist or other groups using the label for themselves, say, as a title or proper noun.

That was part of my point the other day.

It would be nuts to try to apply it to the entire internet, so the way I would do it is allow users to "flag" a domain for mapping under a user account, or something. (Rather than having to build a gigantic webcrawler with many heptabytes of storage.)

Bryan Fischer: excluding Muslims from military service, political office is an act of compassion

no Muslim can take the oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution with a clear conscience. Since his religion and its sharia law, given by Allah himself, teaches him that none of the rights guaranteed in the Constitution are valid (there is no freedom of religion in sharia, for instance - you leave Islam, you die), he either must lie or betray his religion to take the oath.

Out of simple compassion, we should not put anyone in a place where he has to choose between his God and his country to hold public office. Christians don’t have to make that choice, since our nation was founded on the principles of the Judeo-Christian tradition and the Declaration and Constitution took root and grew in Christian soil. The Bible is the ultimate source of moral authority for the Christian citizen, and it is the Bible that gave birth to the Declaration and the Constitution. Remember all that business about the “Creator” and the dating of these documents from the birth of Jesus Christ? That means the more devout a Christian becomes, the more patriotism and love of country he develops, and the more he will want to see the nation return to its biblical, moral and constitutional foundations.

Bat shit crazy doesn't begin to describe that asshole.

More turds of wisdom from Fischer's screed:

there is no constitutional impediment to withholding mosque-building permits. The First Amendment was intended by the Founders as a restraint exclusively on the reach and power of the central government. After all, the first word in the First Amendment is the word “Congress.” “Congress shall make no law...”

(We are talking here about the Constitution as established by the Founders, not the one that has been mangled out of recognition by activist judges.)

States are given, under our Constitution, virtually unlimited freedom to manage religious liberty affairs as they see fit. They even maintain the constitutional right to “establish” a church if they choose, that is, to pick one Christian denomination and make it the official church of their individual state. It would be a bad idea, but not unconstitutional.

When Bill O'Reilly has become the leftmost fringe of a political party, I think it is safe to say the party is too far gone to ever come back. Does anybody else remember when O'Reilly was considered a right-wing loon? Now he's a moderate republican, practically a RINO, and it's not like he's gotten more liberal.

The GOP is beyond the reach of sanity as a party, and unfortunately, they still garner many millions of votes. I don't think it's a stretch to say that about 30% of the country, give or take, has completely lost touch with reality when it comes to politics and economics.

This kind of thing can't happen this quickly without a very well-funded propaganda campaign, sustained over the course of decades.

I mentioned Breivik's Minsk connection some days ago.

Breivik ‘underwent paramilitary training in Belarus’

Norway’s twin terror suspect Anders Behring Breivik trained at a secret paramilitary field camp in Belarus earlier this year, a Belarusian opposition politician said on Thursday, citing security sources.

“Breivik visited Belarus several times. This spring, as part of his preparations for his twin attacks, he visited Minsk, where he underwent training at a secret paramilitary field camp,” Mikhail Reshetnikov, the head of the opposition Belarusian Party of Patriots, told the Gazeta.ru online newspaper.

He cited sources within Belarus’s “security organs.”

[…]

Reshetnikov also claimed Breivik had participated in “sabotage-terrorism drills” under a former Belarusian special service officer and that he had used a fake passport to enter Belarus.

“His codename in Belarus’s KGB was Viking,” he added. “Rumors say he also had a girlfriend in Belarus.”

“The theory that Belarus’ special forces were involved in training Anders Breivik seems, of course, far-fetched,” political expert Viktor Demidov was quoted by Gazeta.ru as saying.

You could have it evaluate the MD5sum or SHA of every DIV independently, and compare the checksum to one cached in a database, or something like that. (You are correct, though, it would be a horrifyingly difficult problem.) But keep in mind, this is where .diff files shine. They don't try to reproduce the whole file every time, just the changes. Much is being made of todays GDP report and the downward revisions for first quarter. Less mentioned is the that the report included revisons all the way back to 2007:

The picture grows bleaker the farther back one looks. BEA revised its national accounts numbers back to 2007 for this release, and the picture revealed is far darker than anyone previously believed. From 2007 to 2010, real output declined by 0.3% per year on average. Previously, BEA had estimated annual growth of 0.1% over that period. The decline in output during the intense period of financial crisis was significantly more severe than economists had thought. In 2008, the economy shrank 0.3%, rather than holding flat, as earlier estimated. In 2009, the economy shrank 3.5%, worse than the earlier 2.6% projection. During the ugliest months of the crisis, in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009, output declined at a shocking 8.9% and 6.7% annual pace, respectively. It is now clear that the American economy has yet to reattain its previous peak in real output, achieved three full years ago.

If nothing else, this awful report helps to solve a number of lingering mysteries concerning the crisis. Arguments that unemployment must be structural, given the failure of projected growth rates to generate new hiring, now look silly. Projected growth rates were simply overstated, and current unemployment is exactly what we'd expect given such a feeble recovery. Those overly optimistic assessments of the likely impact of interventions, from fiscal stimulus to QE, also make much more sense now. Policymakers were fighting a fire far more intense than they recognised.

Norway Shooting Suspect Bought Ammo Clips in U.S.

Details have emerged on Breivik’s claim to have bought high-capacity ammunition clips used in the attack from the United States. In his sprawling manifesto, Breivik says he ordered 10 30-round clips from an undisclosed U.S.-based supplier, because they were considerably cheaper. The sale of high-capacity magazines had previously been illegal in the United States until the 1994 assault weapons ban expired in 2004. Speaking to Politico, Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of New York, a sponsor of a bill to renew the magazine limits, said, "There should be a lot of shame. We’re sending a death warrant to other parts of the world."

It used to be that people at least understood that the Laffer curve, if it existed in the simple way it was posited (which, obviously, it doesn't) was a curve.

And yet very quickly after I heard it being talked about a lot, people started treating it as a line. Many people will unashamedly assert that lowering taxes always raises tax revenue, and that raising taxes can never increase them. Not only is this historically demonstrably false, but they cite the Laffer curve as a proof of this-- and ignore that it's a curve.

There are many, many things like that, I think, about economics. A shameful amount of those on the right wing don't know what progressive taxation is, or think that the rates are entirely different than what they are. Global warming was accepted by Bush-- and then suddenly acceptance of it went into reverse, as millions were spent on propaganda against it.

What I don't understand is the nihilism of those doing it. I can't explain it. All the explanations are pretty toxic.

No, no, I mean that the picture contains information. Tineye won't tell you how much information the picture contains. There's no picture on there one day, and the next day there's a picture. How much has it changed?

Or a graph, or a citation that fully backs up a claim, etc. Imagine trying to evaluate the difference between a paper without any references and one with references. A reputation engine could possibly evaluate the links and see if they're going to good places, but you still have no idea if they actually support the argument being made unless you evaluate it, and that takes intelligence.

Web crawler's are much more sophisticated that that.

• First, they make a copy which they can work with locally: Google's cache. This is useful in its own right as a historical record.
• Second, they aren't interested in every web site, just the wackos. Really, that's not a lot of data.
• Third, you are only interested in content not structure.

Now you have a very manageable amount of data.

• Did a page change? Do an MD5 checksum and hash compare.
• Date changed? Filter that out.
• Key words, blogger identity.

Lastly, ignore the robots.txt and it's pretty easy hide your traces. Think of a distributed crawl. A website would be hard pressed to know it was being crawled.

All day I've been reading about how a ton of Republicans (Voinovich and Bartlett, Bill O'Reilly, Bob Corker, among others) are starting to push back against the Tea Partiers.

Things have gotten so completely unhinged that even that nutbag Allen West is going to be facing a primary challenge for supporting Boehner's bill from last night.

My question is this - do the Old Guard Republicans have enough left in the tank to deliver a smackdown to the TP contingent? Or is it just too late because they let the TP contingent get too much power too soon and can't stop them any more?

Is there any way to stop the crazy that is now in full gallop?

Took today off from work, which meant TV watching, which unfortunately exposed me to the wankery on CNBC, which is all out teabaggery. I wonder how they like their defaults, medium or well done?

Btw, I also read something about him having ordered pure nicotine from China to lace his bullets with and that he did receive the shipment. Does anyone know whether it's known if he did go through with that?

Not that he did it, but his slideshow includes a photo of him mimicing some kind of 'injection' into a rifle round. Oddly, he is wearing a full hazmat ensemble, minus gloves. IIRC, nicotine is percutaneous.

re: #186 Obdicut

It's the inverse of Freidman's credo, "a rising tide lifts all boats". I always felt that line was bullshit, but I understood the reasoning. If the pie is growing, then any proportional slice of the pie would also grow. Sure, it's a massive oversimplification of a complicated system, but it makes a sort of intuitive sense. (It's also a hand-waving dismissal of Marx's observations regarding the inherent dangers of capitalism, but that's another issue. It's now 'safe' to dismiss Marx out of hand, because of the failure of communism, just as it is now 'safe' to dismiss AGW, because the oceans aren't on fire yet, or something.)

When the tide starts going out, and the pie starts shrinking, if you have a large slice of the pie, does it make sense from a point of view of pure self-interest to give away some of your pie for the greater good, assuming nobody else is going to do so? I would assert that even though it makes sense from a global perspective to let go of some of your slice of pie in a contractual arrangement with all the other slice-holders, in an effort to start the pie growing again, it does not make sense to do so as a solo effort.

The social contract only encourages socially productive behavior if it is enforced with some kind of punishment for antisocial behavior. A "self-regulated" social contract is doomed to failure. So here we are, fighting over crumbs, rather than fixing the integrity of the entire pie.

There's not even any individual player to blame, really. It's just what happens when people forget that greed is only good (productive) when tempered by rules.

I'm sure any minute somebody will come along and say that capitalism is perfect, and the problem is over-regulation. I have no response to that, other than "thanks for fucking us all with your idiocy".

The biggest difference between the GOP and North Korea is that the North Koreans aren't trying to destroy our economy.

Two days of exploratory talks between the U.S. and North Korea ended Friday with North Korea's envoy describing them as "constructive and businesslike" and expressing hope for continued talks.

Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan, emerging from the meeting with U.S. Ambassador Stephen Bosworth, the Obama administration's top envoy on North Korean affairs, characterized the talks as positive.

"Yesterday and today we discussed comprehensively, with Mr. Bosworth, (matters) of mutual interest," he said. "The talks were very constructive and businesslike and we continue to maintain contacts."

That, and the North Koreans sound sane by comparison.

A git-like difference evaluator would only note that a reference to an image was added. It wouldn't try to extract any meaning from it. Similarly, if a line was deleted, it would only note the deletion of X number of lines starting at line number Y.

I wasn't implying that you could extract meaning from it directly, just that it would provide a compact and efficient way to track changes over time without losing any of the "original" information (i.e., the state of the document at the point in time you started tracking it.)

Look at the way the *nix utility diff works. Git does the same thing, but recursively over a directory, rather than on a single file.

There's no reason you couldn't apply that concept to a serialized representation of a website.

That's the idea I was going for. I son't see any fundamental problem with it apart from one: It would have to assume that each "page" retains a static naming convention, or else it wouldn't work. So, it would work on some websites (fully RESTful ones) but not others. The issue of the loss of semantic meaning isn't something such a utility would even attempt to deal with. It would just track changes.

Am I making sense? (I mean, it makes sense to me, but am I conveying the idea?)

What we've been part of these past few years is a large scale restructuring of the world economy and in particular life in these United States.

Anyone who insists are looking at short term numbers (of this or that sort) miss the big picture: what it means to "live" and "work" changes, and we appear to be in a time where more modest "aspirations" are called for, vice the images pumped at us 24/7 by the marketing machines.

Whimsical research can lead to interesting materials. First the quote:

In the years following the American Revolution, newspapers had stagnated; they
tended to be party papers, propaganda machines for the two dominant political parties, or
financial papers which reported on the marketplace. It was not until the 1830s that America
witnessed the rise of the Penny Press, a series of cheap daily papers that revolutionized and
revitalized American newspapers in Jacksonian America. Yet two years after the first penny
daily came the Moon Hoax of 1835, the most successful and sustained hoax in the history of
American journalism. Chapter Two looks at the Moon Hoax, a series of articles that appeared
in the New York Sun at the end of August, 1835. This hoax demonstrated, beyond doubt, that
sensational, fabricated stories could radically expand a newspaper's sales and circulations.
The articles realistically mimicked early nineteenth century astronomical discourses, and
convinced readers, editors, and even some scholars, that the moon was inhabited by
fantastical living creatures, including a civilization of bat-like hominids. When the story was
exposed as a hoax, there was little public outrage; in fact, many readers and editors alike
commended the Sun for its ingeniousness and creativity.

And here is the link:

Republican definition of "poor" are the people living in serf-like conditions from 14-century Feudal Europe. Everyone else that complains about being poor is living EXTRAVAGANTLY.

Don't even have to go back that far, just maybe back the the late 19th-early 20th century, before unions had a good foothold, before the modern worker protections we enjoy, and when poor people of all races, genders, and persuasions knew their places (which was under the thumb of their slave-driving employers).

Pretty interesting report by the Federation of American Scientists: NORWAY’S ANDERS BREIVIK: WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND THE POLITICS OF CULTURAL DESPAIR

Even when considered in isolation of the Oslo bombing and the rampage of death visited upon Utoya Island, Breivik’s treatise precipitates profound concerns. First, the question of co-conspirators. Numerous sections of the treatise mention ideologically aligned clandestine military cells that, within the larger struggle of resisting the Islamization of Europe, presently seek CBRN capabilities. Assuming the existence of such cells, it is entirely possible that the attacks in Oslo and Utoya Island and supposed extant and forthcoming attempts to secure, weaponize, and deliver certain CBRN agents are directly linked in a campaign of violent revolution the opening salvos of which began in earnest on July 22.

Second, and far more plausible, is the likely role Breivik’s treatise will serve imparting CBRN knowledge, tactics, and goals to others. Unlike other extremist manuals dealing with the acquisition, handling, and delivery of CBRN agents,88 Breivik’s writings lay bare a poorly kept yet supremely important “secret”: that the use—or credible threat of use—of even non-lethal CBRN agents (either due to the agents quantity or quality) is likely enough to generate widespread panic and devastating regional and global economic consequences. Moreover, Breivik correctly challenges conventional thinking by observing that CBRN can be used on a tactical level. Indeed, two of the most notable instances of CBRN terrorism, the 1984 Salmonella poisoning (Salmonellosis) incident perpetrated by members of the Rajneeshee group and Aum Shinrikyō’s 1995 Tokyo subway sarin gas attack, were triggered by the perceived need to address immediate concerns (as opposed to the groups’ strategic goals.)89 Dismissing Breivik’s “WMD idea” as “not realistic” dangerously overlooks important nuances that give his CBRN impulses added validity and applicability to subsequent violent extremists.90

All I found was this:

A police source in Oslo told the Daily Mail: ‘We still have to find out whether he did use the nicotine, and toxicology tests on the victims will give us the answer.

‘But his planning appears so meticulous that we fear he may have used the chemicals in this way. We would not put anything past this man.’
