Big Government’s Outrageous Outrage of the Day

This is big
Wingnuts • Views: 24,022

Breitbart camp follower Dana Loesch has a shocking, stunning, discombobulating scoop today on the participation of major big name journalists in planning for Occupy Wall Street — while they’re reporting on it! Two of the worst offenders: Dylan Ratigan and Matt Taibbi!

Journolist 2.0: Occupy Wall Street Emails Show MSM, Dylan Ratigan, Working With Protesters To Craft Message.

DERPDana Loesch has ferreted out this secret plot by … oh wait. It’s not really secret at all. Matt Taibbi actually wrote an article for Rolling Stone about his advice to the Occupy Wall Street protesters. As for Dylan Ratigan — has Dana Loesch ever actually watched the Dylan Ratigan show? He couldn’t possibly be more open about his support for the protesters.

Hiding in plain sight. The latest outrageous outrage from the increasingly stupefied right wing blogosphere.

Meanwhile, Fox News has hyped and promoted the Tea Party movement for years, in the most blatant and over the top way; not a peep from these morons about that.

It's an attempt to siphon viewers from Fox while trying to avoid the 'Clinton News Network' charge.

Of course, it will never work. Fox viewers would rather stick flaming swizzle sticks into their eyeballs than watch CNN.

Holy crap people who think they can work together are working together.

Launch all the missiles!

Seriously, an ACORN off-shoot? Brietbart, there was nothing wrong with ACORN, remember? That was an enormous smear you engaged in? It was a foul, contemptible attack on an organization that promoted citizen involvement in government, for which you should be immensely ashamed?

Brietbart also lies, saying what he must know is a lie at this point, and says Adbusters is Soros-funded.

His audience loves being lied to, though.

So why are the signs at OWS significant of anti-semitism, but the Right's obsession with Soros 'money' (isn't that speech, according to conservatives?) isn't?

I'm getting really sick of all these wingnut theories leading back to either Soros the scary Jewish dude or Obama the evil half-black muslin.

And how can the media continue to report on the occupy movement objectively when it’s part of it?

I kind of agree with this one (and it's actually a point Jon Stewart has made in defense about his own not being more of an activist, that you can defend your own role of impartial and snarky commentator the less you get involved and the more you stay independent), but then again she's being a hypocrite in making the charge because the radical team she's a part of is very much part of the Tea Party movement it purports to report on.

And yeah, suggesting it's all a conspiracy and throwing the Soros canard out there at the end of her "article" is the usual bullshit smear job from the RWNJ media.

7 Kragar  Mon, Oct 17, 2011 10:13:44am

Those bastards said they were going to do something and they did it. That is something the current GOP and Tea Party have no experience with, so of course it comes as a complete surprise.

Fiendishly clever.

Yeah, I don't think Beck leaving caused the decline of the Tea Party but they were both drawing energy from the same source. I have been wondering about the timing of OWS. Why now? Are they filling the void left by the Tea Party? There isn't really much crossover membership aside from the fringe Paulians. Maybe the activist left was just getting bored and wanted to do something to keep active.

I think it has more to do with the fear of a double dip recession. There's still a long road to travel but I don't think we're in for a double dip, but now Europe is going back down due to the Greek problem. I think these factors have more to do with it.

Despite its repeated insistence that its coverage is "fair and balanced" and its invitation to viewers to "say 'no' to biased media," in recent weeks, Fox News has frequently aired segments encouraging viewers to get involved with "tea party" protests across the country, which the channel has often described as primarily a response to President Obama's fiscal policies. Specifically, Fox News has in dozens of instances provided attendance and organizing information for future protests, such as protest dates, locations and website URLs. Fox News websites have also posted information and publicity material for protests. Fox News hosts have repeatedly encouraged viewers to join them at several April 15 protests that they are attending and covering; during the April 6 edition of Glenn Beck, on-screen text characterized these events as "FNC Tax Day Tea Parties." Tea-party organizers have used the planned attendance of the Fox News hosts to promote their protests. Fox News has also aired numerous interviews with protest organizers. Moreover, Fox News contributors are listed as "Tea Party Sponsor[s]" on TaxDayTeaParty.com. Media Matters for America has compiled the following analysis of Fox News' promotion of the tea-party protests. (Most transcripts are taken from the Nexis database.)

Derp Logic:

Any news person/show/network not biased to the right is part of the MSM.

If you point out bias by a RW person/show/network then you get The Big Tu Quoque: the MSM is biased.

Which means the goal is not objectivity, it is bias. Bias is justified, it's OK. It's patriotic.

Everything is biased so you have to choose which biased source you choose. You don't want to choose the America hating/capitalism destroying left biased MSM do you?

This is shallow and crass, but it explains a lot. This is the philosophical depth of thought we are dealing with.

OT

A view from the past:

It is the immigration of "the oppressed of all nations" that has made this country one of the worst on the face of the earth. The change from good to bad took place within a generation—so quickly that few of us have had the nimbleness of apprehension to "get it through our heads." We go on screaming our eagle in the self-same note of triumph that we were taught at our fathers' knees before the eagle became a buzzard. America is still "an asylum for the oppressed;" and still, as always and everywhere, the oppressed are unworthy of asylum, avenging upon those who give them sanctuary the wrongs from which they fled. The saddest thing about oppression is that it makes its victims unfit for anything but to be oppressed—makes them dangerous alike to their tyrants, their saviors and themselves. In the end they turn out to be fairly energetic oppressors.

Ambrose Bierce "Industrial Discontent", in The Shadow on the Dial, and other essays, 1909. Kindle ed.

And another:

Labor is prior to and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. Capital has its rights, which are as worthy of protection as any other rights. Nor is it denied that there is, and probably always will be, a relation between labor and capital producing mutual benefits.

It may “just” be a hashtag, but that doesn’t lessen its significance as a power symbol. The swastika, after all, was “just” a Buddhist good luck symbol before the Nazis adopted it and started using it to indicate something else. And how did the Nazis alter it for their purposes? They rotated the Buddhist swastika 45 degrees, to give it a new association.

In fact, pointing out that the symbol may have originally had a different association, and then was later rotated to give it a new purpose, only makes it echo the swastika even more.

This is so extra mortifying to me as a photographer. I just hate it that some people deliberately abuse their work like this, or just as bad having your work taken out of context or wrongly cropped.

BTW the DB² crew will be back at OLA this evening, this time with appropriate sound gear (I hope). Now pondering how to best portray the reality of a few kooks and then the bulk of what's going on. BTW one thing is I'll be polling people as I can.

re: #11 000G

Actually, it's Big Journalism and not Big Government. But then again, it's one big unified Breitbart Empire of Bigotry.

Btw, does anyone know why it's bighollywood.breitbart.com instead of bighollywood.com? Did Breitbart forget to renew bighollywood.com?

whois data would indicate that Notso Breitbart has never owned the domain bighollywood.com.

As an experiment, you could introduce a bit of randomization. Divide the park into a grid and roll dice to see which areas you should shoot. Mindlessly shoot the cardinal directions in each square and then see what you got when you get home. The Robot Martian Anthropologist approach.

City hall is elevated, and there are no good overlooks. So your idea has some merit. Maybe a couple slow panoramas. And some polling, albeit non scientific.

The only comment that made any sense in all the comments you posted from that site is...... "This is possibly.the stupidest website I’ve ever seen."
