Rick Perry Blames ‘Editing’ for ‘Drunk’ Video

Yeah, right

Texas Governor Rick Perry is doing his best to sweep that “plastered” video under the rug; today he says he just “felt great,” and the video was edited to make him look bad.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he “felt great” during the speech he gave Friday that turned into a viral video online and brought negative attention to the presidential candidate, with some saying he appeared to be under the influence.

“It was a great crowd, a good response. I guess you can do anything you want with a video and make it look any way you want, but I felt good, felt great, and I think the message got across very well, so it was a good speech,” said Perry to reporters Tuesday in Des Moines, Iowa.

For reference, here’s the complete unedited video. And he definitely looks hammered to me.

Sure, blame the editing;

He might have felt just great. But he doesn't realize, I guess, that achieving that state of loopiness and gleeful mania naturally is actually more worrying.

If someone enthuses about maple syrup because they're high, well, I can understand that.

If someone just goes on and on about maple syrup while stone cold sober-- kinda weird.

That sounds a lot like something I'd expect to hear from an anti-syrupist... *eyes carefully*

Unless they have a full plate of pancakes, no syrup, and are ticked about it.

Then you'll hear a lot about syrup.

I think I can speak as an expert on the subject. That man is lit.

I need to make a trip to the liquor store before I even think about getting that edited.

Don't ask me, ask James O'Keefe.

I guess I've been edited many times on Friday and Saturday nights as well. I hope he didn't get a DWE.

Perry's toast. He's behind Newt in the polls, and Gingrich isn't even really running.

Rep. Michael Burgess: I’m Sure Press Will Cover Cain’s Harassment Like Obama’s Grades

Heh. The Prez is going to sit on his transcripts in case a really big howl develops, then pull them out and wave them at the Trump d' Jour. Yes, they are dumb enough to fall for the same trick twice.

What's the problem? "I was edited" as in, "I was altered" or "I was high."

I'm high on life motherfuckers!

I'm surprised he didn't pull a Cleavon Little and say, "'scuse me while I whip this out" when he reached for the card in his jacket. Rest in peace, Sheriff...you were fuckin' hilarious.

21 Agnoton  Wed, Nov 2, 2011 1:26:59pm

I'm doing some two-fisted editing right now.

22 Picu  Wed, Nov 2, 2011 1:41:23pm

We all could see he was feeling great. The problem is WHY.

23 sagehen  Wed, Nov 2, 2011 2:27:29pm

Why is it called the Cornerstone speech?

That's an unfortunate coincidence; the more famous "Cornerstone Speech" was by
Alexander Stephens, Vice-President of the Confederate States of America, on 21 March 1861 -- it gets its name from the following quote:

The prevailing ideas entertained by him [Jefferson] and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old Constitution were, that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with; but the general opinion of the men of that day was, that, somehow or other, in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away... Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the idea of a Government built upon it—when the "storm came and the wind blew, it fell."

Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and moral condition.

I'm a Dem. He comes across as lucid to me. He's more likeable than I thought he'd be.

Maybe he'd had a drink or two as I might before such an event.

There's so much to be critical of with his issues and campaign, why pick something debatable like this?
