The Palestinian security chief, Interior Minister Abdel Razak Yehiyeh, has told an Israeli newspaper that he asked the leaders of Hamas and Islamic Jihad to stop suicide bombings.

Maybe I’m in a bad mood this morning. But rather than making me feel hopeful, this statement irritated me.

Where was this guy 5 years ago? What was he saying after the Netanya Seder bombing? What did he say after the Jerusalem University bombing? What were he and his cronies saying after the last one of a dozen horrific bus bombings, as they counted their stolen money?

Now he’s supposed to be rewarded for bravery, because he’s asking those monsters to stop something they never should have started? Did he say “please?”

Aarrgghh.
