In Australia, President Obama mentioned that America’s educational system needs improvement and that we’re falling behind in science and math; predictably, this led to yet another outburst of deranged right wing commentary about Obama “bad-mouthing the US.” For example, in this article at Fox Nation: Obama Bad-Mouths US to Aussie Teens.

It’s the usual nonsense, of course; there’s nothing even remotely controversial about Obama’s statement, when the United States ranks 21st in science and 35th in math, world-wide. It’s just a fact … but then, the right wing has demonstrated an amazing resistance to facts.

Meanwhile, the Fox News audience responds to this story with racist comments and threats against the President, many of which get high positive ratings from other readers. For example:
