Letterman asked Cain the other day if he really wanted to be president. Cain's response was a hearty laugh, like what one might expect from PT Barnum. Cain is having fun with this--it's like performance art, setting up a new career most likely for after 2012. But he's not a serious candidate...doesn't know Libya from Uzbekistan from a hole in the ground. "I got all this stuff twirling around in my head," doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Okay, off topic, but I got a bit of a rant.
Their is a Pakistani Muslim friend of mine who is liberal. No issues, except the like of country, music and culture. I like the genre-fuzzy music like Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift, but not hick music.
She mentions stuff of value like the following.
discovered is that people from these towns were some of the most warm, caring people I had ever encountered. Family values, an attachment to religion, good intentions, great morals. These things significantly matter.
I was in Colorado Springs, a town which in many ways resembles these country places. I was bashed to no end, with no care, and thought of as wrong religious for being liberal.
To be blunt, I hate country. Those people are backwards assholes. The Deep South trope is true. Their culture need to be quashed.

I don't consider anything that isn't south of the Mason Dixon and east of the Mississippi Deep South. Louisiana has a distinct culture, and Missouri, West Virginia, and Arkansas may be hillbilly/Redneck/Southern, but by definition, the Deep South is in a specific location.

I've had poor experiences in Colorado Springs. They have made me cynical and bitter about anything the other side of the aisle likes.
At that point, I learned on my own there is a culture war, and my side must win. A mirror image of the other side.

Really enjoyed the show, though. Lots of fun. The sons are hilarious. I especially liked the scene when Vanozza finds out Rodrigo has a new mistress, and stomps on over to the Vatican. Cardinals are milling around looking panicky, because there is apparently nothing in the Cardinal Handbook that covers what to do when a well-dressed middle-aged woman is beating up the Pope.
Cesare shoos them out into the hall, and tells them that his parents need some time alone.

Heh. When we were going through the adoption process and did not as yet know our child, I suggested that if it were a girl we should name her "Balbina Vivalore" after our respective paternal grandmothers. The Boss was Unamused. Maternal grandmother names would have been worse though - "Gertrude Lee Ella".
He ended up being John Lac - Lac being his vietnamese birth name. It's Buddhist and means, roughly, peaceful. It's the calmest thing about him :D
