Herman Cain: A Third Woman is About to Accuse Me of Having an Affair

Yes, another one
Politics • Views: 30,522

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Herman Cain just revealed that a third woman is now coming forward to say she had an “extended affair” with him. Cain says his lawyer has a statement from the woman, who he accused of “concocting a story.” He claims it was an “unemployed friend” that he tried to “help out.”

He says he intends to continue his presidential campaign, “as long as my wife still wants me to.”

UPDATE at 11/28/11 2:21:50 pm

That didn’t take long; Fox 5 in Atlanta has an interview with Ginger White: Georgia Woman Claims 13-Year Affair with Herman Cain.

As much as I, as a liberal, want to destroy this man for being a better black person than my candidate, and succeeding in a market-based economy, and, you know, all that other stuff I hate Herman Cain for, I have to admit that he has never once sexually harassed me.

Of course, he never remembers my birthday either. I hate him for that.

If Cain himself is announcing this one, it could be the real deal - i.e., a campaign-killer.

Now he’s going to campaign ‘as long as his wife wants him to?’ What the hell happened to ‘I’m in it to win it’ or exiting the campaign ‘ain’t gonna happen?’

The Herman Cain presidential campaign - now with 20% more toast!

In other news, I got callback functions working in my dialog box plugin for jQuery. (That’s the code that dims the screen and pops up a box with a form or some info, e.g. the user profile.)

The callback functions are passed to the plugin in an options object like this:

$(theDialog).blockIt({
  onBlock: function() { doSomething; },
  onUnBlock: function() { doSomethingElse; }
});

Callbacks really extend the functionality — now I can have actions that will occur after the dialog is closed and the screen fades back up to full brightness.

jQuery UI already has a dialog function which I tried out, but it’s way too much complexity for what I need at LGF and adds way too much Javascript code, so I went ahead and wrote my own.

Cain’s lawyer’s statement from the myfoxatlanta site link in the update at the top:

“Mr. Cain has been informed today that your television station plans to broadcast a story this evening in which a female will make an accusation that she engaged in a 13-year long physical relationship with Mr. Cain. This is not an accusation of harassment in the workplace – this is not an accusation of an assault - which are subject matters of legitimate inquiry to a political candidate.

Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults - a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public’s right to know and the media’s right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one’s bedroom door.

Mr. Cain has alerted his wife to this new accusation and discussed it with her. He has no obligation to discuss these types of accusations publicly with the media and he will not do so even if his principled position is viewed unfavorably by members of the media.”

The idea that he has a “principled position” on this is sort of disgusting, but also cries out for jokes.

No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public’s right to know and the media’s right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one’s bedroom door.

The idea that he has a “principled position” on this is sort of disgusting, but also cries out for jokes.

A repub really said that? “A public official should not be questioned about their private sexual life”. After all the Monica/Clinton shit he really has the balls to say that. Fucking unbelievable.

Canon really established themselves in the photojournalism market when they introduced image stabilization, especially in the their long lenses. Back when Canon introduced the EF mount and caused a great gnashing of teeth among some long time Canon users many people didn’t realize it was part of Canon’s long term goal to replace Nikon in that field. Yet moving to the electronic mount allowed for IS, and by putting it in the long lenses (where it can be really useful) was just icing on the cake. I believe Canon is up to their third generation of IS lenses now.

Anyway… yes, those lenses are expensive but as you pointed out the images are great. Well, making good long lenses is easier than making good short lenses, but still, it’s a great lens.

But Herman is 100% unelectable in a general election so he may as well just call it a day. Prolonging the inevitable will only hurt his personal brand because it seems this guy has more skeletons in his closet than Imelda Marcos has shoes.

Actually, Token, it went back further than that. Canon nailed the PJ market probably in the early to mid-90s with their AF systems and left Nikon in the dust until recently when Nikon finally go their act together three years ago with the D3. That and the lemon that the early Mark IIIs were did not help Canon at all. The D3’s image quality (especially at the higher ISOs) is sensational. Now Canon is releasing a FF, 12fps 1Dx next March, but the $6800 price tag will put it out of reach for way too many of us.

re: #107 Kid A

Yes, the EF system was introduced back in 1987. However, the strategic plan to use an electronic interface to the lens, versus Nikon’s use of the screwdriver, for autofocus is what laid the ground for the change in the market.

Image stabilization had been on the Canon plan for a while… The concept was invented by Canon, but they purposed that it would be a strategic marketing advantage. The electronic interface meant including the focusing drive in the lens, not a small feat which Canon pulled off in a relatively compact form (previous attempts were quite clunky, as exhibited by Nikon’s first attempt.)

By switching to an electronic mount gave Canon the reason to redo their entire lens line. Thus while Canon had good long lenses in their old manual focus SLR system, by going with an entirely new series of cameras gave Canon the impetus to improve them all.

It was just a brilliant long-term plan, the kind that many companies today seem unable to perform, that allowed Canon to reassert themselves as Japan’s largest camera maker. Really good capitalists, they are.

The Olympus/Panasonic “FourThirds” system is sometimes called the “universal whore” of DSLRs because the short distance to the lens from the (smallish) sensor allows for the mounting of many different types of lenses, many times with just limited functionality but they can be mechanically mounted. Rick Scott’s Drug Law Isn’t Saving Florida Much Money

Preliminary results from the state’s first round of testing, however, has seemingly proven both of those claims false. Only 2 percent of welfare recipients failed drug tests, meaning the state must reimburse the cost of the $30 drug tests to the 96 percent of recipients who passed drug tests (two percent did not take the tests). After reimbursements, the state’s savings will be almost negligible, the Tampa Tribune reports:

Cost of the tests averages about $30. Assuming that 1,000 to 1,500 applicants take the test every month, the state will owe about $28,800-$43,200 monthly in reimbursements to those who test drug-free.

That compares with roughly $32,200-$48,200 the state may save on one month’s worth of rejected applicants.

Net savings to the state: $3,400 to $5,000 annually on one month’s worth of rejected applicants. Over 12 months, the money saved on all rejected applicants would add up to $40,800 to $60,000 for a program that state analysts have predicted will cost $178 million this fiscal year.

She says she planned on keeping the relationship a secret while Cain made his run for the White House until she and her family watched reports of different women who had accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment. She says she was not surprised by the allegations, but was bothered by the way Cain fought back, attacking the woman, including during an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman.

“It bothered me that they were being demonized, sort of, they were treated as if they were automatically lying, and the burden of proof was on them,” White said. “I felt bad for them.”

If you get past all the Alex Jones, Matt Drudge, Koskidz and John Birch Society (yes, really) hysteria there is some decent reporting on the bill.

The bill, which was unanimously approved by the committee, builds on that work. Its provisions on detainees represent a careful, bipartisan effort to provide the executive branch the clear authority, tools and flexibility of action it needs to defend us against the threat posed by al-Qaeda.

We are concerned that much of the debate over these provisions demonstrates a basic misunderstanding of what this bill would do and attributes to it many things that it would not do.

It’s nice to see a little fact checking from the MSM.

One other good one from Borowitz:

[Link: www.borowitzreport.com…]

“Startled Deer Becomes GOP Frontrunner.

Inability to Speak Considered a Plus.”

An excerpt:

In his first appearance in Concord, New Hampshire, however, the antlered candidate garnered mixed reviews for what some observers said was an unsteady performance.

Appearing frightened by the TV lights, Bucky kicked over the podium and then pranced down the hall before being subdued by a tranquilizer dart.

“Clearly he’s a little rough around the edges,” said Mr. Rollins. “But he still did better than Herman Cain.”

Borowitz cracks me up.

It’s not about impressing G-d. It’s about impressing the masses. A long time ago all the gold and stuff impressed the peasants —kept them in awe. Not so much anymore.

It’s kinda sickening the amount of money that is stored in the Vatican in the form of gold and artworks. While I totally appreciate the historical and artistic value of much of it, CHILDREN ARE STARVING. They could raise money from weathy donors quite easily by even threatening to sell much of it or melt it down or whatever.

So much for the “caring for the poor” part of the Church’s mission.

That’s no illustration, it’s a photograph…

And it’s been photoshopped. Cthulhu has way more wrinkles than that.

OT and apropos of nothing: I just stumbled across a pretty cool Cthulhu illustration. I can’t read the artist’s name, nor could I find a larger version with a reference to the artist. Does anyone happen to know who it is?

Oh, and who knew there was such a thing as a Cthulhu ski mask and a surprisingly cute baby Cthulhu plush toy?

Hi!

Funny, whenever I was sex hungry, there was never a married millionaire man around.

All the rich men I’ve ever known well enough to make a pass at have been devoted to their wives.

And at least one of them is so shy that I think he might have a panic attack if I vamped him. Also, his wife is incredibly sweet. The guilt might kill me. Mutual friends would, too, if that didn’t work.

fucking a married man for 13 years is not cool…there is no more to it…he and she deserve each other and the shitstorm they inspire
carry on

I simply don’ understand why you care that she was screwing a married man. This is not about the rightness or wrongness of her past decisions. This is about one thing. Herman Cain has painted the complainants as liars. She is showing him to be the liar. The debate about this woman should center on one issue alone. Is she tell ing the truth? If she is, Cain is even more of a scum bag than it appears. Not because he is a philanderer, but because he publicly humiliated these women and attempted to paint them as liars rather than own up to his personal mistakes. If these women are lying, and Cain is innocent of the charges leveled against him, these women should be sued and left broke and humiliated.
The entire focus at this point on peoples motives, and their personal lives is totally irrelevant to what is wrong in this whole picture.

True. Of course, the same could be said for the British royals, in the role as head of the Church of England.
