Conservative Women’s Group Applauds Senate Decision To Deny Military Rape Victims Abortion Coverage

Concerned Women for America (CWA) revealed exactly how little concern they have for actual women, much less for America, this week when they sent out a letter attacking women who defend our country for having the nerve to believe they deserve full medical care after being raped.

The mind-bogglingly vicious swipe at female soldiers had a couple of doozies, including the claim that allowing raped service members to access abortion “serves as a political distraction” from national security, as if it’s in the interest of national security to subject raped service members to forced childbirth. [...]

But in a letter dripping with congratulatory faux concern and naked disregard for female service members who have been raped, the most attention-grabbing quote was this: Women deserve better than simply being given abortion as a ‘cure-all.’

Pee Deal: Florida Attorney General Punks Daily Show Correspondent

So on Thursday, Mandvi asked Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi if she would do the same, since she supported the legislation.

Pulling out a plastic cup, Bondi responded: “Well, that’s very interesting that you should say that. Because as attorney general, I’m always prepared,” she said, according to the Miami Herald.

“You have a sample of your urine!” Mandvi replied. “Is this really your urine?”

“Thank you, have a great day,” Bondi replied, as she walked away. “My name is on the top.”

But Mandvi had a suspicion. Surely Bondi wouldn’t just be toting around a jar of her own urine, would she? The Herald reports:

As his camera crew returned, he looked at the cup. “It says Pam Bondi. I don’t know if it’s really urine though.” He smelled it. “It’s apple juice.” He tasted it. “It’s apple juice.”

His cameraman noted, “She’s a pretty woman.” Mandvi agreed. “She just has incredibly beautiful smelling urine.”

Man defaces Walker recall petition, gets arrested for felony election fraud

A West Bend man told police he intentionally scribbled over petitions seeking the recall of Gov. Scott Walker with the hopes it would "screw up the petition."

But when Jeffery Karnitz handed the defaced petition back to a recall volunteer, she told him, "I hope you know that's a felony," and from then, he told police, "I kind of kicked myself in the ass."

On Thursday, Karnitz, 30, was indeed charged with a felony, "Election fraud - falsifying or destroying nomination papers, recall petitions, etc." -- which is punishable by up to 1 1/2 years in prison, two years extended supervision and $10,000 fine.

Sandusky's Wife: All the accusers are lying

The wife of ex-Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky says her husband is innocent of the child sex abuse allegations against him and that his accusers are making up their stories.

Dottie Sandusky's comments today were the first she has made since her husband was arrested last month and accused of molesting boys.

She released by a statement through her husband's lawyer a day after a grand jury report said one alleged victim screamed in vain for her to help him while Sandusky attacked him in a basement bedroom. Dottie Sandusky says no such incident occurred.

Yeah, I'm sure all the guys got together after a few years and figured they might as well cook up the story about them being raped so they could sit around and have a few laughs about it.

Occupy L.A. Demonstrators Policed With Help of Private Security Known Downtown as 'The Shirts:' LAPD Says That's Not 'Typical'

In video of a police confrontation with Occupy L.A. protesters outside a Bank of America branch downtown over the weekend a few private security guards are seen, batons-in-hand, helping the LAPD form a skirmish line.

In fact officers can be seen pushing security guards into strategic positions as they face off against the so-called 99-percenters. The security employees push people back with batons and aim the business ends of the weapons at citizens. At least one guard even appears to participate in the arrest of demonstrator Anthony Loscano.

this is freaky

68 WINDUPBIRD DISEASE [S.K.U.M.M.]  Thu, Dec 8, 2011 3:47:27pm
These aren't just run-of-the-mill security guards though. They're the notorious "shirts," employees of downtown's business improvement districts, organizations that band together to increase security, clean up trash and lobby the city for improvements.

Some, like the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and its president, Carol E. Schatz, are major voices at City Hall. One of the 10 most powerful people in L.A., Schatz has been a major supporter of the billionaire-controlled Anschutz Entertainment Group's proposal to build an NFL stadium on publicly owned property.

Homeless advocates have long accused the shirts of going beyond their authority (which is that of any normal citizen) and pushing people on the streets around, even assaulting them at times.

They're called the shirts because they wear bright-colored polo shirts depending on which downtown "BID" they work for. The guards helping the LAPD in this case wear purple tops (emblazoned in back with "DISTRICT SECURITY") and are employed by Schatz's Downtown Center BID -- even thought marchers were outside its zone (PDF of map).

so now we have this in America

Dark future ahoy, this is how we progress towards a police state, we don't have POLICE so much as we just have unaccountable citizens who get to play cop

70 WINDUPBIRD DISEASE [S.K.U.M.M.]  Thu, Dec 8, 2011 3:49:06pm
Callaghan was party to a successful lawsuit against the LAPD and city that bars officers from arresting people simply for occupying sidewalks (namely sleeping on them).

But she claims the shirts have been instrumental in doing dirty work the police can't. "They routinely roust homeless people," Callaghan says:

Police have a history of using them for things that they the police are not constitutionally allowed to do. They are answerable only to the business improvement districts who hire them even though they operate on public space.

Yep, it's like a dystopian epic flashing before my eyes

EPA: Fracking may cause groundwater pollution

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday for the first time that fracking — a controversial method of improving the productivity of oil and gas wells — may be to blame for causing groundwater pollution.

The obvious solution to this issue is to defund the EPA.

IAF strikes terror targets in Gaza in response to rockets

The Israel Air Force struck targets connected with terrorist activity in the Gaza Strip early on Friday morning in response to a spate of rockets fired into southern Israel from the coastal territory on Thursday, the IDF Spokesman's Office said in a statement.

IAF aircraft recorded direct hits on a center of terrorist activity in southern Gaza, as well as am additional terror target in northern Gaza.

The IDF reiterated in the statement that it holds Hamas responsible for all terror activity emanating from Gaza and it will continue to respond forcefully to attacks on Israeli citizens.

You realize that the White House schedules these events months, maybe years in advance. Last year Hanukkah was on Dec. 15. They figured that it's always in December, usually a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Well, this year was a "leap year" according to the Hebrew calendar, so Hanukkah got pushed back, now it's the same week as Christmas.

One problem - in the deal, the Hornets were sending out $16 mil (Paul's salary) and with the players they got in the deal, they were taking back over $30 million in salary.

The rest of the NBA owners are now demanding that the commish kill the deal.

I don't know what to think without getting into some kind of paranoia. My son has dreamed about being a pilot in the Navy since he was little and he did it. We have friends, one of who is a Col in the Air Force, that wrote a recommendation for him. This has been gone over with a fine tooth comb. It has been a trip.

This whole security thing is making me paranoid. They asked my screen name and what sites I post on. That made me mad, but it's my son, so what am I gonna do. And to add to this, we travel back and forth to Iran over the years and they know it, but in the last year and a half we have been to Jamaica and husband went to Iran. We are now going through extra security now more than we went through before.

He speaks a little Farsi.

Son is finishing his last training and he told me that from now on he can't really discuss anything with us. Sere school next and on to his permanent assignment. So what do you do? Nothing.

Well, I have heighten paranoia right now, but I honestly got the feeling that they already had the answers to my screen name and what sites I post on.

Even though my son is starting to get a security briefing on his plane, the security clearance is not yet through. They haven't even interviewed my husband yet. That keeps the paranoia heightened. I can see that's the official category from the UN, which apparently is too freaking stupid to also recognize the difference between tear gas and mustard gas, or pepper spray and deadly nerve agents.

It's still hyperbole to protest pepper spray or tear gas with terms designed to invoke deadly war weapons such as Saddam used, or were used in WW1.

It's the official category of the US Dep't of Defense. It's obviously not the same lethality as VX, but it's use is supposed to be limited to aggressive crowds. The army gets a fatality on occasion, usually mishandling or horseplay.

Kilgore has a point about the changes here. When challenging a "wounded baby" photograph from that part of the world is dismissed as ideological rather than deserved suspicion... It's a good time to confront some of those changes with some facts and links.

Like Charles post I linked above.

I don't see how doubling down on the dismissive derision is going to help you here. And if you're going to cite Charles as the reason for your position, then you might want to quote what he had to say regarding this specific case, no?

But in this case, assuming this was a staged photo, or that the baby wasn't injured, is just NOT warranted. You can't come to that conclusion from one photograph. This is one frozen moment of time, and you can't see what was happening at that scene. He could have been switching the baby to a better position, there could have been someone out of the frame getting ready to take the baby, there could have been ANY number of reasons why that frozen moment exists.

True, but JB's video was uploaded in February 2010, so getting to 15% of a 22-month-old video after only 48 hours is a commendable effort!

EPA: Fracking may cause groundwater pollution

The obvious solution to this issue is to defund the EPA.

Presto! Clean water!

Drudge on Obama's Hanuka...
Obama celebrates Hanukkah at White House...
TWO WEEKS EARLY?
LIGHTS ALL THE CANDLES...
'We Never Need an Excuse For a Good Party'...

Outrageous!

Annoying, but Drudge wouldn't give a damn were it not Obama.

One of the most recent victims to come forward says he screamed for help while Mrs. Sandusky was in the house.

If that is correct, then her husband is not the only person in the family who should be going to jail.

But that's exactly the point she is addressing, see the text of the comment.
If the incident didn't happen, it is easy to see how his wife would hold onto this as a last straw, and since she would now also be one of the accused by a witness, and it hadn't happened, it's easy to see why she would brush the testimonies off as lies.
Of course, from a more objective perspective, that's why you build a case - each particular accusation may not stand up, but the sum does.

How is "that part of the world" different from anywhere else in terms of fakery, dishonesty etc.? One must always be vigilant, true, but that doesn't pertain only to certain parts of the world.

Just for fun, report it as hate speech. Its a hoot.

YES! That's what I did, & sent a message to all my friends to do it - I want to see if YouTube has the cojones to follow its own rules in this regard...

Hate Speech based on sexual orientation.

I just did so as well. Thank you for the reminder that this can be done.

Lulz - the stalkers are still going on about the Rachel Corrie story. Talk about being stuck in a time warp. You'd think they must have experienced some deep trauma to be so unable to move on.

Or that they don't have any actual facts, so they are relying on something they've already enshrined as fact in the hopes that no one will remember how fake their version of it is, & go back & check...

Doubling down? Maybe. But look at where I'm doing that.

Surely I am not the only person who remembers "Green Helmet Guy" and the despicable shots of the re-used dead baby...?

Bit late to this article, but am I the only one amused by the fact Rick Perry chose an Aaron Copland song for his anti-gay ad soundtrack?

I assume he doesn't know Copland was gay?
