Since Michelle's dresses are open season, is Mrs. Perry's dress open to criticism?

I see some method behind this madness. Someone will ultimately take him to task and he might well use the opportunity to complain that he is "not allowed to openly celebrate Christmas", thus proving the point he made in his video (in which he wore the same sort of coat that Heath Ledger wore in "Brokeback Mountain").

There was a linguistics convention in which a speaker pointed out that although there are many languages in which two negatives make a positive, there are no examples of two positives making a negative.

To which a delegate replied, "Yeah, right!"

My husband got yelled at when we were getting our Christmas tree for daring to suggest to a random outraged old guy that the "Holidays" in Happy Holidays meant "Holy Days." The guy wanted to know, "Which one, which one??? What's THE holy day, huh?" I told my husband he should have said Grianstad Sona. (Happy Solstice.)

I'm avoiding work, so I'm easily distracted. I found Griffin Perry's twitter feed, and a couple of (mildly) interesting tweets.

Griffin Perry
@griffperry Griffin Perry
@rickperryfacts RT: Rick Perry's mom made his underwear until he went into the U.S. Air Force. Seriously . And mine til college.

OK, only one. He also retweeted Ace of Spades and Melissa Clouthier. And his Mom blames Obama for her son being unemployed.

Griffin Perry, who graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2006, worked as an investment banker until two weeks ago.

According to regulations set in place last year by the Securities and Exchange Commission, you can’t bring in the big bucks at Deutche Bank and be intimately involved in political campaign activity.

So in order to help out with his dad’s presidential run, the younger Perry resigned from his job two weeks ago. It’s the Obama administration’s fault because they passed the regulations that made it difficult for him to legally do both, his mother said.

“My son had to resign his job because of federal regulations that Washington has put on us. He resigned his job two weeks ago because he can’t go out and campaign with his father because of SEC regulations … My son lost his job because of this administration,” Anita Perry said, according to CNN.

Staying on the holiday theme, did anyone catch Genevieve Gorder's show on Christmas at the Obama White House - and the preparations that go into celebrating Christmas at the White House?

From the official WH site:

Our theme for this 2011 holiday season is "Shine, Give, Share," which offers an opportunity to pay tribute to our troops, veterans, and their families throughout the White House. This year, the official tour features 37 Christmas trees, 30 are natural trees and 7 are made from paper, felt or aluminum; a gingerbread model of the White House made of 400 pounds of gingerbread, white chocolate and marzipan plus 5 different representations of First Dog Bo Obama. Volunteers from 36 states plus the District of Columbia worked for days to get everything ready.

Oh, and she did a similar special in 2009 too.

Yeah, still sounds like a seekrit Muslim in the WH to me. /

Seriously though, when will all that nonsense stop? When he's finally out of office after his second term? (probably not even then)

Once he's out of office he will officially let us know that his birth certificate was a forgery and move back to Kenya, where he will be named Dictator-For-Life.

As "Once he's out of office he will officially let us know that his birth certificate was a forgery and move back to Gallifrey, where he will be named Doctor-For-Life."

Sounded funnier in my head.

Update on the civilian casualties in Gaza....IDF releases footage showing bombing of arms warehouse located in the midst of residential area in Gaza Strip

A video released Monday by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit depicts all too well how Gaza terror groups operate from within the Strip's civilian population.

The footage shows a Saturday night IAF strike on an arsenal located in a northern Gaza neighborhood, following the weekend's rocket fire on Israel's southern communities.
The footage shows the explosion caused by the direct hit of the weapons cache, as well as several secondary explosions. The warehouse continued burning for several hours.

The IDF stressed the target – which was hidden among residential building – sustained a direct hit. The location, the military added, proves once more that Hamas has no qualms in using civilians as human shields.

Following the strike, an official with Gaza's health services said that the home of a known militant was hit as well. The man was not home at the time. According to Palestinian sources, two people were lightly hurt.

Agreed. Especially since there was controversy about how he got the job in the first place.

Just days after insisting his friendship with a former U.S. senator had nothing to do with his proposal to sell off the Texas Lottery, Gov. Rick Perry faced renewed conflict-of-interest questions Tuesday, this time regarding his son.

The governor's office confirmed that Perry's son, Griffin Perry, 23, had secured a job at UBS, the investment banking firm that the governor has consulted on the lottery proposal.

UBS is also where former U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm, whose political action committee once gave the governor $610,000, works as a vice chairman.

A spokesman for Perry denied any suggestion that the employment of Griffin Perry had any influence on the governor's discussions with UBS.

Yes, but Heath Ledger's character had a reason.

Rick Perry also has a reason, but it's not as respectable a reason.

"I work outdoors", as opposed to "I want to give the impression that I'm the kind of guy who works outdoors".
