Mass Murder in Belgium - Pamela Geller Instantly Assumes ‘Muslim(s)!’

Geller immediately exploits a terrible crime for her own hateful purposes
World • Views: 26,770

In Belgium today, a gunman with an automatic rifle opened fire on a crowded square in the city of Liege, leaving at least three people dead and scores injured. Earlier reports of more than one gunman were mistaken; it’s now confirmed that the attacker, Nordine Amrani, was acting alone.

Amrani was a known criminal with a long record, and had been summoned by police to appear this morning:

He had previously been convicted for drug dealing and illegal arms possession, as well as for holding stolen goods and other crimes, said Daniele Reynders, the public prosecutor for Liege.

In September 2008 he was thrown behind bars for 58 months when police uncovered a weapons arsenal in his home.

They found 10 firearms and 9,500 gun parts along with 2,800 cannabis plants, but a prison official said Amrani was granted early release last year.

So far, there’s no hint of a connection to terrorism; Amrani appears to be a common criminal. The Telegraph reports that he was never linked to any terrorist acts or networks. He was a drug dealer, not a jihadi, and there’s no indication that he was even a practicing Muslim.

But that doesn’t stop Pamela Geller from immediately shrieking: BELGIUM GRENADE ATTACK BY MUSLIM[S]: 4 DEAD, 75 WOUNDED!!!!! - Atlas Shrugs

And Robert Spencer follows suit, as always: Belgium: Grenade attack outside courthouse linked to sentence in honor killing case.

They aren't even waiting 24 seconds, let alone 24 hours to get the facts. They're immediately concluding that this is the work of jihadi terrorists or a response to a pending sentence in an honor killing with no actual facts.

Sheesh.

So much for the 24-hour rule on their part. Facts are so hard to reconcile with their worldview. I pity them.

Horrible attack, horrible response. A reminder that there are much worse things than the Republican primary campaign going on. However, I can't help but be reminded that Gingrich would want Geller associate John Bolton as his Secretary of State.

. Five victims confirmed dead.

'A convicted gun fanatic threw hand grenades and opened fire on a square bustling with Christmas shoppers in the centre of the Belgian city of Liège, killing at least six people, including himself, and wounding dozens, some critically.
....
Police said there were no indications that the dead assailant, a local man, had been involved with terrorism. Nor was there evidence of any ideological motivation for the murders. The gunman threw three hand grenades on the busy square, one at a bus shelter, killing two teenage students instantly.
An elderly woman died later of her injuries, as did a 23-month infant and a 20-year-old man.'

The shooter, Gianluca Casseri, had a minor reputation in Anime spin-off SF. He was an active member of the fast-growing Italian fascist organization Casa Pound. The latter is named for American poet Ezra Pound, who made propaganda broadcasts for Mussolini during World War 2. Pound was arrested and arraigned for treason after the war, but was declared insane.

It's interesting that the shrieking harpy and her little companion are so quick to jump on the "IT WAS TEH EEEBUL MUSLIMS" bandwagon now, but when one of their own was the perpetrator, they were the first ones to stand up and call for the 24-hour rule to be observed.

Geller and her buddies are not just against Islam and Islamism, they are also against immigration, especially from Muslim countries. So this still fits into their playbook, they just have to change the tack a bit.

Terrible moment. The Catholic high school I used to teach at hosts a group of Italian students every fall. When they leave, we have a mass and assembly to honor them.

First time I'm there, Father calls on everyone to raise their right arms in blessing of our Italian brethren and sistren.

The image of a gym full of bleachers with kids in uniform all raising their right arms in unison is unfortunate. Even though our kids are racially diverse, wearing chinos, and not particularly uniform arm-raisers.

Interestingly enough, Liege is a center of European gun-making and has been for centuries. It is the headquarters of arms giant FN Herstal. The Herstal group also owns Winchester and Browning in the United States.
High quality local hardware not withstanding, the scumbag himself was apparently armed with an imported AK-47, first choice of revolutionaries, terrorists, and kooks everywhere; and also obviously of certain good guys (since I have one).

Imagine calling 911 for the Pennsylvania State Police and not seeing a trooper for hours, even days.

It’s a scenario that state lawmakers and troopers foresee if the department’s budget is cut 5 percent next year, forcing what would be the first layoffs in the state police history.

An internal department document obtained by The Patriot-News forecasts the potential for 400 to 500 trooper layoffs under a budget proposal to trim the department’s spending. That’s approximately 10 percent of the nearly 4,400 troopers currently employed by the department. The cuts would also force stations around the state to close.

re: #36 Lidane

[Link: www.pennlive.com...]

This follows on the heels of a lot of rural townships and even counties cutting back on local law enforcement in recent years expecting the state forces to cover for that.

Law enforcement, utilities, and other support services take the hit in rural areas sooner than urban environments. Low population density and the need for infrastructure that has to cover a lot of area.

From Spencer's site: UPDATE: One of the attackers was named Nordine Amrani. (Thanks to Robert for the link.) This is a Muslim name. Nordine = nur deen, light of the religion, and Amrani is related to Imran, the father of Moses according to the Qur'an (cf. sura 3, "The Family of Imran," ahl-e-Imran).

I don't think anyone disagrees that Imran, or Amran, is the father of Moses. Just saying.
