Fox News ‘Debate’ Wrap-Up

Who’s the farthest right?
Politics • Views: 22,227

The media are now pretending that there was some actual conflict, but the Republican candidates obviously agree with each other on almost every issue. Except for Ron Paul, who consistently plays the Crazy Uncle.

The only real “conflict” tonight came from the attacks on each other’s past positions for not being far enough to the right. On all current positions, they’re in absolute lockstep.

Except for Ron Paul, who’s not down with the war-mongering but totally on board with everything else.

Possibly the most revealing line of the night came from Mitt Romney: “With regards to abortion, I changed my mind.”

No kidding. He changed from telling heart-wrenching stories of women forced to seek dangerous illegal abortions, to spouting “life begins at conception” right wing talking points.

The Fox talking heads use many words to say nothing.

No, we’re not surprised.

It’s going to be Romney. Political cartoonists are sad.

The Fox commentators only want to talk about optics - who looked strong, who got all their lines in, blah blah blah

They don’t seem to have any interest in talking about any of the content: who understood the topic, who spoke to the facts, who seemed to understand the Constitution.

Of course, may be just as well, since the answer is probably “none of the above”.

They get paid per word, must be.

Well The Hoopsters view on the debate..
I still think it is neck and neck between Mitt and Newt..
Paul was finally exposed for the nut case he is..And he really showed his core.. Can’t stand him..
Huntsman seemed sane and experienced with a pretty good head on his shoulders.. He doesn’t have a prayer to be nominated..
The rest..Disgusting politicians with no chance to ever be POTUS.. Which means I’ll sleep well tonight..
I’m glad the debates are over for awhile

Bachmann got pissed at Newt, told him she was a serious candidate too.

Mitt aborted his previous position on abortion?

Speaking of political cartoonists, here’s one more reason to hire them from among the living:

Seriously vacuous rambling by the Fox talking heads. The vapidity is only outdone by the lack of photogenic goodness.

Where’s Stinky?

If its a troll, tell me where. I’ll either grill it or put it in the Floucapult, as appropriate.

Newt, again, falsely claimed (i.e., lied) that, while he was Speaker, he balanced the budget for four years and he had a $405 billion surplus. Politifact, says “false”. He made this claim, also, in May 2011, and Politifact also said it was false then. Maybe he thinks that if one repeats a lie often enough, it will be true. Or, probably, he just thinks that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. Which, unfortunately, is true of too many people. [Link: www.politifact.com…]

The one that got to me was Santorum saying he’d eliminate heating assistance for the poor and cut unemployment benefits.

Jesus, Rick. Why don’t you just come out and shout, “Die, you poverty stricken wretches. Die! Die!! Die!!!”
