Video: Ron Paul’s 1998 John Birch Society Documentary on the UN Plot To Take Over the USA

13 years later, still no takeover
Wingnuts • Views: 39,175

Andrew Kaczynski has dug up yet another buried video, a 1998 John Birch Society documentary starring none other than Ron Paul — a classic example of far right paranoia and conspiracy theorizing, as Dr. Paul calmly explains that the United Nations is plotting to take over America, create a New World Order, confiscate every red-blooded patriot’s guns, abolish all churches, and replace the US Constitution with the UN Charter.

Well covered here but this is worth noticing

CNN

"Take, for instance, a special issue of the Ron Paul Political Report, published in June 1992, dedicated to explaining the Los Angeles riots of that year. 'Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks three days after rioting began,' read one typical passage.

"According to the newsletter, the looting was a natural byproduct of government indulging the black community with ' "civil rights," quotas, mandated hiring preferences, set-asides for government contracts, gerrymandered voting districts, black bureaucracies, black mayors, black curricula in schools, black tv shows, black tv anchors, hate crime laws, and public humiliation for anyone who dares question the black agenda.' It also denounced 'the media' for believing that 'America's number one need is an unlimited white checking account for underclass blacks.' "

There's a lot more in this vein.

Paul now claims that he did not write the newsletters, was unaware of their contents at the time and now has no idea who did write them.

It's fair to say that almost no one who has followed the controversy believes that Paul is telling the truth about any of this. The authorship of the newsletters is an open secret in the libertarian world: they were produced by a community of writers led by Paul aides Lew Rockwell and Murray Rothbard, who wrote a newsletter of their own at the same time that expressed similar ideas in similar language. The racism of the newsletters -- and the elaborate lying subsequently deployed to evade responsibility for the newsletters -- say much about the ethics of Paul himself and the circle around him.

Hamas leader gets warm welcome from the future Egyptian leaders....
Gaza PM in Egypt, 1st visit since Hamas takeover

Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie met Haniyeh at the group's newly inaugurated headquarters in a Cairo suburb.

"The Brotherhood center has always embraced issues of liberation, foremost the Palestinian issue," Badie said, according to Egypt's state Middle East News Agency.

The Brotherhood renounced violence in the 1970s, but it supports Hamas in its "resistance" against Israel.
...
Haniyeh described Hamas as the "jihadi movement of the Brotherhood with a Palestinian face." He said his visit to the Brotherhood center would confuse and frighten Israel.

"Our presence with the Brotherhood threatens the Israeli entity, " Haniyeh said according to MENA.

Israel has expressed concern that a new Egyptian government under Islamist influence might cancel Egypt's 1979 peace treaty with Israel.

Ron Paul's exploits are the things of colourful conversation. I've got a friend who is convinced that the crazy uncle is the answer to our nation's problems because Paul is so "less government is good government" minded. The fun part is that my friend is also a weed smoking hippy with a bleeding heart. Said friend is finishing a masters in mathematics somewhere in the American Southwest (okay, we're not the closest of friends or I'd know exactly where he's getting that MS), but this stuff is gold. Can't wait to share a few pints of Guinness with him and bring all this stuff up.

Kaczynski tweeted today that this "documentary" is from 1998, which the title on the "screen" says, but the title underneath it at YouTube still says 1990. Toward the end they do mention June 4, 1997 as the date the "Get US Out" measure was voted on. (Oops, I'm late there.)

However, it sounds like one of the films they showed us in grade school in the 60's. I wonder if that's supposed to give it the air of credibility. They haven't made any progress since I trick-or-treated for UNICEF at the house with the "Get US out of the UN" lawn sign in 1969 or so. Still yelling

Get off my laaaawn!!

If the police have their hands tied, you and your mom need to leave. Fast.

[Andrew] Kaczynski’s hobby is watching old political videos, the most memorable of which he uploads to his YouTube channel. It sounds harmless enough, unless you happen to be a 2012 Republican presidential candidate with a long video record. Then Kaczynski’s hobby can ruin your news cycle, or worse.

Well, know everybody is in their own separate corners. However, I can't take the fighting anymore. Fighting is normal to a point. But I can't take the amount and intensity anymore.

I want a loving family so much.

I came from a family where my dad beat up my mom, me and my brother Rick. It didn't stop until my mom and dad went their separate ways. Unfortunately it also split up my siblings with two going to my dad's parents and three going with my mom. By the time I went back to living with my dad, after living with my grandparents for just over two years, he had matured enough to drop the violence.

Sometimes the family has to break up to save it. It isn't right, it isn't pleasant and it can be really painful, but in the long run it can make a big difference.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

My 15 yo grandson is autistic, my daughter has Aspergers and I have the same symptoms as her. Having emotional control problems can make it really tough, and not being able to figure out what people intend/want just makes it worse. At 21 it seemed the only emotions I had were anger and fear. I had to go through anger management courses more than once in my life and just recently (4 years ago) found an anti-depressant that does a great job in helping me control my anger.

I suspect there is a lot of similarity between the two of us. The only advantage I have is time. I'm 56 so I've had time to learn how to read people and to deal with anger, although I internalize far too much even now.

Ron Paul is not anti-Semitic but is anti-Israel, former aide says

Republican presidential candidate hopeful Ron Paul supports calls for the abolishment of Israel as a Jewish state, and the return of it, in its entirety, to the Arabs, though he is not an anti-Semite, Eric Dondero, a former senior aide of the libertarian Texan congressman, wrote in a blog Monday.

“He wishes the Israeli state did not exist at all,” Dondero wrote. “His view is that Israel is more trouble than it is worth, specifically to the America taxpayer.”

“He sides with the Palestinians, and supports their calls for the abolishment of the Jewish state, and the return of Israel, all of it, to the Arabs.”

"Eric Dondero is a disgruntled former staffer who was fired for performance issues," CBS news quoted Paul spokesman Jesse Benton’s response to the column. "He has zero credibility and should not be taken seriously."

Thanks for the link. I had not seen that entry; there are many blog writers who have taken AAPS to task for their nuttery. However, the traditional news outlets seem to look over the AAPS when discussing Ron Paul. When Rand was running there were some articles which mentioned AAPS, but the 2010 election spin cycle was in full on Tea Partying mode to really care. Given that the news industry seeks to sell adverts more than to tell the truth it is not surprising that in-depth analysis takes a back seat to hot-button headlines.

And, given how large a fraction of the US populace buys the bs like vaccines-cause-autism I suspect that corporate media are wary of offending their customers.

Moderates (however you decide to define the term) don't give a crap about the "radical left". They care about three things:

1) The economy
2) The economy
3) The economy

Why else would the House GOP work so hard on sabotaging it?

The Ronulan nut on ABL thinks I'm black.

I think I'll just roll with it. He's trying to make it sound as though he's black, but I think he's lying. It's funnier if he's doing his act for another fake black person.

(Gotta love the Internet.)

Could be an honest mistake--is your family from Dublin?

The radical right are all Christians now...a very bad rabbit for all Americans, even those assholes themselves...dumping those freaks would wipe out all the voting power, or a large, yet unknown segment...the rad right is here to stay...they are usable whores for the GOP hierarchy

One born every...

Luckily for the GOP, they have several different denominations of perpetual breeders they can pick from, for their fuckables.

Ha, wait till he finds you're a troo, truly black Black.

Then, the fun really starts with blathertarians and libbercons, in particular.

Whites are always bragging about that they hear what's said behind our backs when we're not around, and I always say, yeah, you don't know what they say directly to our faces. Hopefully, you're not about to find out.
