White Supremacist Radio Host: Ron Paul Was Scheduled and Confirmed in 2006

Confirmed
Politics • Views: 35,656

James Edwards, host of Tennessee’s premier white supremacist radio show, The Political Cesspool, is following LGF — and apparently, he’s not a fan.

But he does confirm that Ron Paul was scheduled to appear on his overtly racist show in 2006, one week after former KKK grand wizard David Duke.

Unlike those who constantly attack me, I prefer to be honest. So, rather than be disingenuous, I will tell you that Ron Paul was scheduled and confirmed to appear for an hour-long interview on The Political Cesspool Radio Program in 2006. This booking was arranged by Jesse Benton.

A couple of hours before the live interview was to take place, we were informed that Congressman Paul had to take an unexpected flight and would be happy to reschedule with us at a later time.

So, there you have it, media lefties. Feel free to spin it however you wish, but be sure to make this clear:

The Political Cesspool Radio Program proudly endorses Ron Paul for President of the United States.

It was he and not she who filed for devorce!

Can someone please give Obama the keys to the White House for another five years so we end the circus?

Just because he's loved by racist bigoted assholes who hate everyone that isn't just like them, doesn't mean he's just like them.

Edwards: "The establishment media, you see, is scared to death of Ron Paul..."

Such nonsense. I've seen no examples of media 'scared' of Ron Paul, just media asking him questions he doesn't want to answer.

Anyone remember the only remote Dem equivalent to Ron Paul - Dennis Kucinich - getting anywhere near a primary win?

Neither can I.

That Ron Paul is polling this well in Iowa says a lot about the GOP base, and none of it good.

7 Atlas Fails  Mon, Dec 26, 2011 7:28:57pm

Ron Paul supporters are nothing if not eclectic. Unfortunately, they range only across the douchebag spectrum, from stoners, to Code Pink moonbats, to white supremacists.

re: #11 albusteve

To be honest, Romney in 2012 seems a lot like Obama in 2008, aside from the masterful campaigning. In 2008 we knew Obama's position on a bunch of issues becuase of his votes as senator, and we knew he could run an organization because of his campaign. In 2012 we know how Romney would govern (more or less), but not necisarily what position he would take on any given issue. We also know he can run an organization, but not if he can handle anything the size of the presidency.

Romney wouldn't be the end of the world if he won, but then Obama wasn't either.

He says you're hateful Charles. You hater. How dare you quote him.

Articles like that (LGF article) show you the love and goodwill that’s in the hearts of liberals, don’t they?

As we all know, “racist” is just a liberal code word for any White man who doesn’t hate himself and his family. I certainly don’t consider myself to be a “racist,” but am unequivocally pro-White in my political outlook and feel as though European Americans should have the right to advance our unique group and political interests, just like the minorities do. The NAACP is pro-Black, AIPAC is pro-Jewish, yet they are not negatively stigmatized.

I believe in equal rights for all, and special privileges for none. That, apparently, earns one the “white supremacist” moniker these days.

BIG promise

I remember Gitmo. I was pretty pissed at Obama for keeping it operational, but you've got to understand how hard if would have been to house any of those guys anywhere in the States, let alone arrange public trials. I live in the are surrounding the Flight 93 crash site, and there was some pretty staunch "Not In My Backyard" opposition to trying any of the suspected terrorists here, even from self-proclaimed Democrats and liberals. Still no excuse for Obama's failure to deliver on that key campaign promise, but there's plenty of blame to go around for that continued national embarrassment.

37 Lord Baron Viscount Duke Earl Count Planckton  Mon, Dec 26, 2011 8:02:43pm

If even conservative columnists compare you to Jeremiah Wright, then you know it's going to be an uphill battle.

From MSNBC:

Ron Paul is coming under the microscope now that he is seen as having a real chance at winning Iowa.

Yesterday, the Texas congressman, who has the best organization in Iowa, was pressed on CNN about controversial statements in a newsletter published 20-plus years ago. Some conservatives are now taking aim, with one columnist even comparing him to Jeremiah Wright, the controversial former Obama pastor.

DADT doesn't affect him, so he doesn't think it affects anybody.

Just ignore federal encroachment upon your person, like in the form of barring you from entire career paths based in arcane, 2nd century CE social reasons.

Until you have *real*, liberty-luvvin' reason to hate them, like he does!

Ha ha. I've been waiting for the Wright comparison. Won't stick. I paid attention when Wright came up because I was not an Obama supporter and questioned this issue, along with Michelle's college writings. But after review, there wasn't much there.

There was a distancing between Obama and Wright over time... and the public rejection of what Wright said.

Paul? Longer record of actually creating material, no firm rejection publicly.

The equivalence won't stand under any scrutiny.

I was one of the few in my community who supported trying the suspected terrorists here. The legal and ethical justifications for Gitmo are shaky at best. Hell, even Ronnie Raygun supported civilian trials for terror suspects; they're either enemy combatants (in which case they're subject to Geneva Convention protections) or criminals (in which case they're entitled to a public trial.) I give Obama credit for ending waterboarding and other forms of torture, but I still hold him accountable for breaking a campaign promise.

'Savior?' Read my words. I like Obama. If this was a poll, I'd answer 'approve.' I've also criticized him on several occasions; he's far from perfect, and was totally ineffective from about December of last year to now (although the GOP's recent payroll tax fail may hopefully signal a change.) I can't really compare him to Romney, because I don't know Romney positions this week and haven't checked the latest polls, but I know which one I'd rather have as POTUS.

Obama the Adequate may not have the same ring as hope and change, but I'll take it over a transparently phony douche like Romney and a bunch of wingnuts trying to out-stupid each other.

GOP still trying to suppress voters:

...many Republican state lawmakers are doing everything they can instead to prevent students from voting in the 2012 presidential election. Some have openly acknowledged doing so because students tend to be liberal.

Seven states have already passed strict laws requiring a government-issued ID (like a driver’s license or a passport) to vote, which many students don’t have, and 27 others are considering such measures. Many of those laws have been interpreted as prohibiting out-of-state driver’s licenses from being used for voting.

In fact, it was just terminolgy you chose to notice and I guess take offense to. I've no control over how what I write is received.

Sure that stood out. I didn't take offense. The fact there is much more to you is why I asked. My first reaction was to disagree, but then it's very easy to misunderstand a post in a blog. Obviously we are different in outlook in many ways. I just happen to think angry speech like what I saw at the time quoted from the Reverend to be adding to the problem, again depending on the audience.

For what it's worth by way of candor I spent a lot of my childhood weekends in a black neighborhood playing with the neighbors kids where my grandparents lived. So I just never got the bigot thing. The angry racial thing. I resent it in proportion to the anger in it.

I think the strongest message I get from both Paul and his followers is simply that they consider themselves, or rather, him, and his message, to be so centrally important that anything mundane like race, gender, functional practicality, the laws of physics, etc., is simply too stupid to be considered, compared to the basic point, which is that Ron Paul is the only man who can save America.

It primarily comes down to two things, weed and greed.

I don't know what you mean by angry racial thing, but let's be clear: it's your thing. I'm not really interested in your couple of guilt-salve stints with black neighborhood children on your weekend gallavants to the ghetto. I grew up as one of those "only black familes" in white suburbs into adulthood and in many respects carry on that tradition into the enterprise and commercial world, so I know the full range of white conservatives are capable of, and the nastiness they are completely capable of overcoming.

None get any pats on the back or diversity points for doing what they ought to have been doing all along, anyway. Not from me, anyway. Go to someone else to get those if that's what you're after.

Black people are quite accustomed to white conservatives and liberals ceaseless attempts to regulate our rather legendary anger levels.

Reiterating the only real point of post #50: while I'm pleasantly surprised this stupid Ron Paul "race" bit has garnered some comparison to stupid "Reverend Wright", what's going on with Luap Nor will never approach the 25/8, constant three month blasting of three little words. That's the legacy of white supremacist conservatism in action.

You don't know what I meant by angry racial thing? One example might be assuming I have some guilt to deal with in racial matters. Just because I grew up in a mixed race friendly environment. Your resentment may be more dear to you than the change you pine for. Oddly enough a goal we share.

Just because I grew up in a mixed race friendly environment.

But yes, keep up the self-generated charade that your personal handwringing about a simple two-letter word, "us", is somehow my issue, and that the future of "change" -- whatever you believe I desire in that realm -- is contingent on some posts I've made in LGF comments.

You're asking a good question.

They are in fact who you say they are. What we are seeing is not so much an endorsement of Paul but in my opinion, they are frustrated with the alternatives.

They know Paul is less than savory but they also know no one is listening to them- or even seems to care.

There was a time the Heartland, unions, etc., was democrat territory, but the dems abandoned them in favor of a different ideal. The whys are many but there is a reason those states turned red.

It's easy to go overboard with criticisms, or call them stupid, foolish, etc., but we know that isn't true.

Once we get over the attacks, we need to talk about how everyone is failing the nations voters- the dems and the gop.

The only thing for sure is no one is listening.

LAKE LUZERNE -- Two men were arrested Monday for allegedly stealing a Route 9N restaurant's sign as part of a sandwich-throwing dispute between pizzerias over business practices, police said.

The two suspects worked for a rival restaurant in town, and the theft apparently stemmed from a confrontation in which the theft victim allegedly tossed a meatball sub at an employee of the other restaurant.

Marc C. Jenks, 34, of Antone Mountain Road, Corinth was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, in the Nov. 6 theft of the sign from in front of Nino's Pizzeria, the Warren County Sheriff's Office said.

Brian A. Martineau, 22, of Raymond Street, Corinth was charged with fifth-degree conspiracy for his alleged involvement, police said.

Johannes Heesters, a Dutch-born singer and actor who made his name performing in Adolf Hitler’s Germany and was dogged in his long career by controversy over his Nazi-era past, died Dec. 24 at a hospital in Starnberg, Germany. He was 108.

His agent, Juergen Ross, announced the death but did not provide a cause.

I'll go out on a limb and say it probably had something to do with his being 100-and-freaking-8. Just a guess.

Man trying to rob grocery dies after shot in face by Kroger employee
[Link: www.indystar.com...]

A man who was shot in the face about 6 p.m. Monday inside a Kroger grocery store on Indianapolis’ Northwestside has died.

Police say they suspect the wounded man was trying to rob the store and was shot by an employee.

The wounded man, described as in his mid-20s, was taken in serious condition to a hospital where he later died, police said.

Police said early information indicates the wounded man, whose name was not released, was suspected of placing a hard object into the back of a female employee in the store in the 5000 block of West 71st Street, near Georgetown Road.

The man forced her to the office area where another employee fired a gun at the man, striking him in the face. Investigators late Monday did not anticipate any arrest.

A sweet story with a bit of an amusing angle:

Navigating Love and Autism
[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

Only since the mid-1990s have a group of socially impaired young people with otherwise normal intelligence and language development been recognized as the neurological cousins of nonverbal autistic children. Because they have a hard time grasping what another is feeling — a trait sometimes described as “mindblindness” — many assumed that those with such autism spectrum disorders were incapable of, or indifferent to, intimate relationships. Parents and teachers have focused instead on helping them with school, friendship and, more recently, the workplace.

Yet as they reach adulthood, the overarching quest of many in this first generation to be identified with Asperger syndrome is the same as many of their nonautistic peers: to find someone to love who will love them back.

The amusing part:

Kirsten was first introduced to Jack in the fall of 2008 by her boyfriend at the time, who jumped up from their table at Rao’s Coffee in Amherst, Mass., to greet his friend, who was dressed uncharacteristically in a suit that hung from his lean frame.

Jack, it turned out, was on his way to court. A chemistry whiz, he had spent much of his adolescence teaching himself to make explosives and setting them off in the woods in experiments that he hoped would earn him a patent but that instead led the state police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to charge him with several counts of malicious explosion.

'Mischief' voters push Paul to front of GOP race

Ron Paul is surging in the Republican presidential race. Just not among Republicans.

The Texas congressman is leading some polls in Iowa and is in a tie for second in New Hampshire. A candidacy once dismissed as sideshow is now being taken very seriously; the front page of Monday's Des Moines Register featured a huge spread under the headline "COULD RON PAUL WIN?"

Given Paul's views on the Fed, the gold standard and social issues, not to mention his isolationist foreign policy, the polls have left some politicos wondering whether Republican voters have somehow swerved off the rails. But there's another question that should be asked first: Who are Ron Paul's supporters? Are they, in fact, Republicans?

...

So who is supporting Paul? In New Hampshire, Paul is the choice of just 13 percent of Republicans, according to the new poll, while he is the favorite of 36 percent of independents and 26 percent of Democrats who intend to vote in the primary. Paul leads in both non-Republican categories.

...

Continues.

He likely will win New Hampshire regardless. Michigan too. Mitt is seen in both of those early primary states as 'their guy', whereas Ron Paul is seen as a yahoo from Texas (which he is). Hopefully, those wins will give Romney the edge he needs to gain the nomination. He'll need an edge, since I think Ron Paul could actually win South Carolina over Romney.

Because they aren't "pro-Pasadran" (another name for the Revolutionary Guards) so much as they, like Ron Paul, are people who always (to use the words of Jeane Kirkpatrick) "blame America first". They nourish serious butthurt about this country and the Iranians are simply taping into that butthurt for their own purposes. Much like drilling an oil well in Texas or Iran, with the result being a gusher of hatred and resentment.

Watch South Carolina and Florida.

If Romney takes both the race is (for all intents and purposes) over. If Romney can take SC, he's going to win but it might be close. If Romney doesn't take SC but takes Florida, he's going to win but it might be close. If Romney doesn't get either, he probably can't win short of horse trading at the convention.

Right now, Gingrich has a commanding lead in the polls of both states. On the other hand there's still time for him to crash and burn in both places.

Suicide bomber strikes Afghan funeral

KABUL, Afghanistan — A suicide bomber attacked a funeral in northern Afghanistan on Sunday, killing at least 20 people, a government spokesman said, in what appeared to be the Taliban’s latest strike against Afghans who have ties to the national government.

Among those killed in the bombing, which occurred in Takhar province in northern Afghanistan, were a member of Parliament, Abdul Mutaleb Baik, and a member of the provincial council, according to a spokesman for the provincial government. A number of Afghan intelligence agents and lower-level government officials were also thought to be among the dead.

Man in Afghan army uniform fires on NATO troops

An official said several NATO troops were wounded in the shooting and the gunman was killed.

NATO and Afghan authorities were investigating the attack, which took place on Saturday at an outpost in Bala Boluk district, about 700km west of Kabul, Afghan Defence Ministry spokesman General Mohammad Zahir Azimi said.

A NATO statement said there were no fatalities among alliance soldiers, but an official, who asked not to be named, said several coalition troops were wounded.

He said the man who opened fire was killed by NATO troops.

If the probe confirms the gunman was a soldier, the shooting would be the latest in a series of attacks by Afghans against coalition partners.

Those shootings have raised fears of Taliban infiltration as NATO speeds up the training of Afghan security forces.

Paul Disowns Extremists’ Views but Doesn’t Disavow the Support

The American Free Press, which markets books like “The Invention of the Jewish People” and “March of the Titans: A History of the White Race,” is urging its subscribers to help it send hundreds of copies of Ron Paul’s collected speeches to voters in New Hampshire. The book, it promises, will “Help Dr. Ron Paul Win the G.O.P. Nomination in 2012!”

Don Black, director of the white nationalist Web site Stormfront, said in an interview that several dozen of his members were volunteering for Mr. Paul’s presidential campaign, and a site forum titled “Why is Ron Paul such a favorite here?” has no fewer than 24 pages of comments. “I understand he wins many fans because his monetary policy would hurt Jews,” read one.

Far-right groups like the Militia of Montana say they are rooting for Mr. Paul as a stalwart against government tyranny.

Former Paul staffer dishes dirt about Paul's positions. Consider the source, but the claims seem plausible given what we know about Paul's positions that have come to light.

In a lengthy op-ed on RightWingNews.com, Eric Dondero defended the Texas congressman against charges of racism related to newsletters released in Paul’s name during the 1980s and ‘90s.

"I worked with the man for 12 years, pretty consistently. I never heard a racist word expressed towards Blacks or Jews come out of his mouth. Not once," Dondero wrote.

But Dondero goes on to take several digs at his former boss, saying Paul is “out of touch with both Hispanic and Black culture” and “intolerant" of people who primarily speak Spanish.

Dondero went on to say that while Paul supports gay people's rights to do “whatever they please in their private lives," he's “personally uncomfortable around homosexuals, no different from a lot of older folks of his era.”

According to Dondero, Paul once took pains to avoid using the bathroom at a gay supporter's house. He also recounts an incident relayed to him by another senior staffer in which Paul refused to shake a gay supporter's hand.

The Paul camp dismissed Dondero's claims, calling him “a disgruntled former staffer who was fired for performance issues," CBS News reported.

Iran opens trial of US man who 'confessed' to CIA plot

Iran has begun the trial of an American man of Iranian descent accused of being a CIA spy, according to local media.

In the hearing, prosecutors cited a "confession" from Amir Mirzai Hekmati aired on state TV earlier this month, the semi-official Fars news agency reports.

A lawyer for the 28-year-old rejected the allegations, Fars said.

The US say he has been falsely accused and have called for his release.

Not the first time that the PA has made those claims. Hamas doesn't recognize Israel's right to exist, and any elections involving Hamas that results in Hamas winning the Parliament and/or presidency of the Palestinian Authority would likewise result in a non-recognition/abrogation of Oslo.

Hamas and Fatah have been trying to negotiate a deal allowing elections to go ahead in 2012 that pits Hamas and Fatah against each other for the first time since 2006 parliamentary elections that led to Hamas winning a plurality. It was those election results that led to the Palestinian civil war that kicked Fatah out of Gaza and Fatah consolidated control in the West Bank.

Now, they want to hold new elections - ones that can be recognized by the rest of the world - and that means that the diplomats would have to ignore that Hamas remains committed to Israel's destruction and non-recognition of all things Israel (except for targeting purposes).

Vandals cast shadow on holiday lights show

ALBANY — Vandals on Christmas Eve inflicted the most extensive damage to the Capital Holiday Lights display in Washington Park in its 15-year history there.

Sgt. Lenny Ricchiuti, who heads the Albany Police Athletic League, which puts on the display as a fundraiser, said 15 light displays were damaged, graffiti was sprayed on corporate sign boards, some of which were destroyed and several power cords were cut.

"We took the signs down and replaced them right away because we didn't want any kids to see this," Ricchiuti said.

...Police estimated the cost of the damage at about $25,000.

...Police said some of the graffiti messages seemed to echo themes and slogans associated with the recently ended Occupy Albany protest, including "Stop corporate greed" and "Don't shop at Wal-Mart."

"We have no proof of anything at this point, but it does not seem like neighborhood kids would be writing these kinds of messages," Ricchiuti said.

Court documents: Police officer kicked in groin at Occupy DC encampment vomited at scene

WASHINGTON — A U.S. Park Police officer who authorities say was kicked in the groin during a skirmish at the Occupy DC encampment was in so much pain that he vomited at the scene and had to be taken to the hospital, according to charging documents released Friday.

James D. Ruffin, of Sandy Springs, Ga., faces charges of assaulting a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. He was ordered detained Friday until a Tuesday court hearing. His lawyer, Lisbeth Sapirstein, declined to comment.

Authorities say Ruffin kicked the officer in the groin as the officer and others were trying to subdue him and put him into a police car. Another officer sprained his vertebrae during the scuffle, the documents say.

The scuffle took place Thursday afternoon after Park Police came to McPherson Square, the site of the Occupy DC encampment, for a report of a man assaulting a woman inside a tent. The officers encountered a woman who pointed out Ruffin and told them that he had entered her tent, vomited and jumped on her and others inside.

Police say Ruffin refused to present identification, cursed and yelled racial slurs at officers, and refused to stand up to be arrested. He kicked at officers who attempted to place him in the cruiser, and once inside, kicked the rear car door and bent the door from the door frame, authorities said. Officers used a stun gun at one point to subdue him, according to the documents. Ruffin is described in court papers as 6 feet 3 inches tall and 300 pounds.

What happened with Solyndra?

The accusations started flying as soon as Solyndra shut its doors.

The Fremont solar startup shook Silicon Valley and Washington on Aug. 31 when it fired most of its staff and closed the gleaming new factory it had built with a $528 million federal loan.

Within hours, congressional critics accused the Department of Energy of rushing Solyndra's loan, which had been part of President Obama's economic stimulus package. Republicans suggested Solyndra got the money because its biggest investor had raised campaign funds for Obama.

Solyndra's bankruptcy prompted investigations by a congressional subcommittee and the Department of Justice. Thousands of e-mails from the government, the company and its investors have been made public.

Four months later, the most sensational allegations - particularly those of cronyism - remain unproven, though the public documents do provide support for some of the accusations.

re: #274 sattv4u2

The assault on a law enforcement office appears to be a proper charge - DC Code 22-405:

(b) Whoever without justifiable and excusable cause, assaults, resists, opposes, impedes, intimidates, or interferes with a law enforcement officer on account of, or while that law enforcement officer is engaged in the performance of his or her official duties shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be imprisoned not more than 180 days or fined not more than $1,000, or both.

(c) A person who violates subsection (b) of this section and causes significant bodily injury to the law enforcement officer, or commits a violent act that creates a grave risk of causing significant bodily injury to the officer, shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be imprisoned not more than 10 years or fined not more than $10,000, or both.

The general assault statute is DC Code 22-402. Significant bodily injury is the key issue here. And I don't have access to the case law to see what they consider "significant bodily injury" or what constitutes a "dangerous weapon". However, a DC lawyer posts that:

An object is a dangerous weapon if it is designed to be used, actually used, or threatened to be used, in a manner likely to produce death or serious bodily injury. The government does not need to prove that the defendant actually killed, injured, or even touched the other person with the weapon.

Injury means any physical injury, however small, and it includes a touching that is offensive to a reasonable person. The government must prove that the defendant committed a threatening act; mere words are not sufficient. The government does not need to prove that the defendant acted with actual intent to injure.

DC case law seems to support a prosecution case if they can show that the protester, wearing steel toed boots (if that's indeed what he/she was wearing) threatened to use/actually used boot in a manner to cause serious bodily injury (a kick to the groin would cause serious bodily injury). Seems that prosecutors threw the kitchen sink at the protester (and the assault statute carried a 10 year prison sentence, while the other assault statutes carry lesser penalties), and the protester will likely be able to plead/negotiate down some of the charges to avoid trial.

It's a tough call. I don't foresee the possibility of armed assistance from the West like with Libya. The Arab Spring revolts may just end up leading to new authoritarian theocracies. Iran is probably the only country that would turn into a moderate secular state after a revolt. I think the Western powers are happy to see the arab spring revolts slow down. Seems that prosecutors threw the kitchen sink at the protester (and the assault statute carried a 10 year prison sentence, while the other assault statutes carry lesser penalties), and the protester will likely be able to plead/negotiate down some of the charges to avoid trial.

When I sat on a grand jury, we asked the prosecutor why so many charges were applied. The answer was basically to make sure something sticks.

I've been skeptical of all laundry lists of charges since.

Assad is going to use the Arab League monitors as cover for his ongoing crackdown. He can point them to Homs, as he clears out his military there, while engaging in opposition elsewhere in the country. Manipulate the observers, limit what they can see or do, and present them only with one-sided information.

And Assad will blame every spasm of violence on terrorists, no matter how far-fetched the claims may be. It's not like some of the Arab League member states haven't fallen back on that same strategy in dealing with their own Arab Spring protests. They blamed outsiders, rogues, and terrorists for violence, and justification for brutalizing the protesters. Assad's just taking that to a whole new level of violence.

Typically, a prosecutor will provide a laundry list - a high level charge, and lesser included charges (so as to insure convictions, lead towards plea deals, and a prosecutor may bring the charges at grand jury but decline to bring all to trial). Some cases might be simplified so as to make a difficult case (think white collar or terrorism) so as to limit what a jury has to consider.

Here, assault is a main criminal charge followed by assaulting a law enforcement officer. Both would appear to be legitimate charges here. It's up to the prosecutor to show that the defendant used a dangerous weapon.

Yes. Homs goes from "being surrounded" with reports of live fire upon protesters to being "restive" -- as reported by the BBC -- as the "Arab League monitor" dog and pony show begins.

Van Halen announces 2012 tour with David Lee Roth

(CBS) Van Halen will celebrate its 40th anniversary as a band with a major 2012 tour featuring David Lee Roth.
After months of speculation, the rockers finally announced the news on Van-Halen.com through a series of video clips. Specific tour dates will be unveiled soon, with tickets going on sale Jan. 10.

The 2012 tour is expected to feature Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen. Roth parted ways from the group in 1985. In the years since, Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone took turns as frontman. Roth joined Van Halen for an MTV Video Music Awards performance in 1996 before returning for a brief tour the following year.

Original bassist Mike Anthony is not expected to perform with the reunited 2012 line-up, as he's busy playing with Hagar in the supergroup Chickenfoot.

In November, Van Halen signed a new deal with Interscope Records, and with that, the group has been working on its first full-length studio album with Roth on vocals since 1984. It will also mark Van Halen's first release since 1998's "Van Halen III."

The Arab League and Syria -- It Won't Work

5,000 casualties and counting did the trick, and an agreement was signed between the Arab League and Syria to allow Arab observers to come to Syria in an attempt to stop the bloodshed. The head of the Arab mission is the Sudanese General Muhammad Ahmad Al-Dabi, a veteran of the oppressive campaign of his government against Muslim, but non-Arab African tribes in Darfur.

Here is what was written about this "peace observer" General in a book describing the Darfur atrocities:

General Muhammad Ahmad Al-Dabi was sent to the region [Darfur-J.O] in February 1999, ostensibly to restore order, but in fact to put down Masalit [African tribe-J.O] resistance ...his personal militia... trained local Arabs for the government's "popular defense forces" in the west. Since non-Arabs were not allowed to enlist, these became in effect another local militia, which the Masalit called Janjawid... thousands of Masalit were killed and tens of thousands put to flight. [W.M Daly, Darfur's Sorry, Cambridge University Press, p. 262.

Clearly a nice guy... and the question is whether he was elected because he has a proven experience in mass killings, or is it an indication that the Arab League effort is just a fig leaf, and not a serious attempt to force the Assad regime to stop the bloodbath, that has already assumed the proportions of a mass indiscriminate slaughter?

I get the feeling that El Baradei and the Islamists are just trying to buy some time. They have to keep a lid on their intentions just a little while longer until they come to power and draft a constitution. The military can't stop it as much as they'd like to.

Pretty much. If you dig deep enough, you get something like, "I know the sins of the United States, and have taken them to mean that all nations are just as bad as all other nations (except us and Israel, we're worse), and no one should judge. I am so distraught at the idea that I might have been lied to about American history by my eighth grade teacher that I will now consider there to be no proof that Iran is an 'oppressive' regime. Really, who can say what's oppressive? Except me. I say the U.S. is oppressing ME and EVERYONE ELSE."

Closely related to the Paulbot line "OK, maybe he said some racist things, but since he's the only man who can SAVE US ALL, how important could that be?"

Seriously, you're not paying attention.

There were 3 compounding reasons for why, you seemed to think only one of them was the rationale I used before I called him a Fox Nation Troll. The label still stands.

What's even more odd is your defense of Shropshire against being called a Fox Nation troll, but no response to the shitty argument fu that warranted the label. So would 'run of the mill Troll' be a better descriptor? How about just 'troll?'

To say he was trolling would be defensible. Honestly, it was the 'Fox Nation' part that set me off. That site is a Mos Eisley-level "hive of scum and villainy" and I felt Sh_Sl did not deserve such an insult.

I'm not sure El Baradei's interests line up with those of the Islamists. They likely think of him as Tea Party members think of John Huntsman: tainted by his service outside of theirsphere of influence.

I get the feeling El Baradei is more than happy to be a useful idiot and serve as the secular face of a theocratic state.

'Anonymous' hack victims face repeat attacks

Victims of a hack attack on a US-based security think-tank have been warned against speaking out for fears they could be targeted again.
...
"It's come to our attention that our members who are speaking out in support of us on Facebook may be being targeted for doing so and are at risk of having sensitive information repeatedly published on other websites," it said.

"In order to protect yourselves, we recommend taking security precautions when speaking out on Facebook or abstaining from it altogether."

What a bunch of dicks.

Aren't the folks at Anonymous just the nicest people?:

Stratfor Hacking Victims Targeted Again After Speaking Out

Victims of a data breach at the security analysis firm Stratfor apparently are being targeted a second time after speaking out about the hacking.

Stratfor said on its Facebook page that some individuals who offered public support for the company after it revealed it was hacked "may be being targeted for doing so."

The loose-knit hacking movement "Anonymous" claimed Sunday through Twitter that it had stolen thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information belonging to the company's clients. Anonymous members posted links to some of the information Sunday and more on Monday.

Stratfor, based in Austin, Texas, said its affected clients and its supporters "are at risk of having sensitive information repeatedly published on other websites." The company has resorted to communicating through Facebook while its website remains down and its email suspended.

A message posted online Monday by a group asserting it spoke for Anonymous mocked victims who spoke to The Associated Press about the experience of learning that their credit card information was stolen and used to make unauthorized charitable donations. The message also ridiculed someone who criticized the hacking on Facebook, saying "we went ahead and ran up your card a bit."

Bunch of thugs, no better than the Outfit here in Chicago.

You know I thought about that before Tweeting that very same story. That is to say I am kind of worried that if I am even just remotely critical of "anonymous" that one of the would retaliate in some criminal fashion as they've been doing. Right now the best we can hope for is that the appropriate authorities take a hard line approach on these hacker including maximum prison sentences.

I don't think there's a whole lot to worry about. Barrett Brown was well placed in Anon (although I think he exaggerated his own importance) and I survived his youtube appeal for my personal information.

Highly recommended --beautifully written and well researched.

Call it criminal, if you please, not weirdass. Stealing money like they are doing is the sort of things crime syndicates do. At this point, I would say Anonymous and any of its members who hack should be charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Handing out some 10-15 year prison terms should pin their ears back.

What are these asshole anonymous emos going to do next? Start hacking into the personal information of US Army soldiers including their credit and debt card number? I'm sure these so called "peace activists" would find some way to rationalize such acts. More along the lines of their stupid "direct action."

They imagine that groups like Stratfor are warmongers serving the interests of the ruling elite. That's the problem with vigilantism; the attackers only have to imagine or invent a threat and they can attack whoever they want.

They could try that, but if they do that there will be blood. That's the point where anyone arrested for being part of Anonymous could count on getting their ass kicked by police.

They lack Fawkes' courage of his convictions. I blame modernity, for making them able to wreck havoc without physical exertion or real discipline. Fawkes had to work to do damage.

re: #395 Fat Bastard Vegetarian

In NJ, they've redistricted from 13 down to 12, and the odd man out is Democrat Steve Rothman. His district is being subsumed into two neighboring districts - Democrat Bill Pascrell and Republican Scott Garrett. So, he's got a choice. Fight a campaign against Garrett or take on a fellow Democrat.

Guess which way he's leaning. That's right, he's looking to take on Pascrell, essentially ceding the other district to Garrett. Garrett's district is pretty conservative and has been a safe seat for Garrett due to gerrymandering, and that Rothman wont suit up for a race essentially means that Garrett will continue to keep the seat until further notice.

We get noncompetitive general races because of gerrymandering and redistricting protects entrenched candidates as both parties look to protect their already entrenched seats. Democratic districts remain Democrat, while GOP districts remain Republican.

The process is broken, and attempts to force competitive districts (and this could have been a competitive district race) is going to come to naught and people will likely lean on Rothman to cede to Pascrell.

Jesus H.

Look, my father is probably not that unusual among Stratfor readers. He was involved with the Soviet Jewry movement for many years, and developed a lifelong interest in and passion for the former Soviet Union. He has put blood, sweat and tears into a program he created to build civil society in Russia through international police department training and support. I'm going to put up what he's done in his life up against any of these punks, him and the graduate student writing a dissertation on Bolivia, who also subscribes to Stratfor.

There also seems to be this air of privileged upper-middle arrogance with many of these hackers. Demographics would clearly reveal that one doesn't become so computer savvy in an impoverished household. But even without that the snot-nosed privilege is there and could be summed up in, "I broke the law but I should not go to jail!"
