Ron Paul Denial Watch: Only ‘Eight To Ten Sentences’ Were Offensive

The “only honest man in politics” lies his butt off

Anyone who’s actually read the infamous Ron Paul newsletters knows how dishonest the Crazy Uncle is being here: Ron Paul Downplays Newsletters : Only ‘Eight To Ten Sentences’ Were Offensive.

Youtube Video

Ron Paul on Thursday downplayed the fringe aspects of his old newsletters, saying on an Iowa radio program that the most offensive passages were probably only a small portion of the overall content.

“There were many times I did not edit the entire letter and other things were put in,” he told a caller on the Jan Mickelson radio show. “I was not aware of the details until many years later. These were sentences that were put in, eight or 10 sentences. It wasn’t a reflection of my views at all. It got in the letter and I thought it was terrible.”

"It got in the letter"

Magic autonomous racism!

Things. Got. Put. In.

We had a Paulbot over at DKos this morning spouting that "only 8-10 sentences were offensive" line verbatim. The campaign must have sent out an e-mail on talking points on this one.

He was 'very concerned" back then with the topics of his newsletter, but he never read the newsletter itself until recently when he heard some complaints. Riiight.

Dangerous. As a friend, I will not go there.

// Sure you did.

Heh. Some doofus filling in for Mark Levin on FoxRadio was pointing out how much Stormfront hearts Ron Paul.

I was a bit surprised.

"It got in the letter and I thought it was terrible.”

So terrible he lied, denied and spun the issue for years.

Shorter Ron Paul: "Oh, you guys. You put stuff in when I wasn't looking, again!"

I don't know; I was thinking of what Harry Truman might have thought of Ron Paul.

re: #8 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)

That's just it. The lying and denying. If he just disowned such beliefs he might not be in this shit storm.

He would have stopped Buck.

And laughed himself silly over Paul.

Right, and we would have heard endless bitching from you about an American POTUS overreaching into Canada.

I get that some people think Obama is a disappointment.

But I swear I'd choose a disappointment a million times over before I'd ever vote for a paranoid racist lunatic.

Ron Paul's bubble in the Iowa polls certainly has brought some of the spotlight onto his past.

Finally.

I truly hope this is the very end of his political career. Dead end loser, he is.

Now if it could just convince the idiot Paulbots that he's not the goddamn savior of weed and capitalism and is just an old, racist crank, I'd be thrilled.

Love seeing Mr. "tell it like it is" go into passive voice, because, of course, bad things just happen by themselves. Mr. Paul, who put the 8-10 sentences in your newsletter, and what is your relationship to them?

You're finally famous, Charles.

8-10 sentences?

This is his most damaging admission yet, because outside the most horrible quotable sentences, you take them out, and you still have articles full of paranoia, racism and conspiracy theories.

34 jaunte  Thu, Dec 29, 2011 6:57:54pm

Et tu, Mr. Destructo?:

Game Over: Scans of Over 50 Ron Paul Newsletters

For a certain segment of the Ron Paul fanbase, no evidence of his disseminating hateful, paranoid material will ever be enough. Citing James Kirchick's piece in The New Republic wasn't sufficient, because Kirchick could have just been "making everything up." Then, when I and others posted copies of "The Ron Paul Political Report Special Issue on Race Terrorism," that too wasn't convincing.
"Proof that he said/endorsed racist things? Hardly. Doing it repeatedly in one document isn't enough to prove that he did it. Now, if there were many documents..."

Well, now there are many documents. Over fifty. Right here.

As I said in my rundown on the Paul platform over at Vice, reasonable fans of Dr. Paul now must accept that there's no way Paul could have been ignorant of the content [of] 8-12 page newsletters published under his name for over ten years. Paul supporters face three losing propositions:

• He lacks the competency to control content published under his own name for over a decade, and is thus unfit to lead a country.
• He doesn't believe these things but considers them a useful political tool to motivate racist whites, which makes him fit to be a GOP candidate, but too obvious about it to win.
• He's actually a racist, which makes him unfit to be a human being.

Further, you can't dismiss this in the name of higher political or socioeconomic aspirations. Since Paul has no chance of winning — seriously, no chance at all — his only value is as a voice, a conduit for principles.

@BorowitzReport:

Ron Paul says he would replace paper money with "gigantic stone money" that would be harder for Congress to spend.

36 nines09  Thu, Dec 29, 2011 8:12:52pm

Yes. An oversight. Tricky thing to do ya know. Proof reading with a hood on is hard. I jest! He never wore a hood! He just talked like he was under one. I hear bolts popping from his airplane. Whoops. Was that a fan going?

37 abolitionist  Fri, Dec 30, 2011 12:22:43am

Only a few letters were wrong.
.
.
.
Of course, they were newsletters.
