Geller and Spencer Spew More Insults and Conspiracy Theories at Your Humble Narrator

And I was just trying to be helpful
Wingnuts • Views: 30,690

Last night after I posted a fascinating story about a Muslim involved in a violent incident aboard a flight to Kansas City, I realized that Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller would probably be interested in it too. After all, their blogs are totally about Muslims, right?

So I tweeted a link to them, along with a note saying “Don’t miss this story!”

And just look at the thanks I get. Here’s how “Scholar of Islam” Robert Spencer and his fellow “freedom fighter” Pamela Geller reacted to my helpful link.

Also, look at the neo-Nazis parroting Andrew Breitbart’s delusional insults at Vanguard News Network: VNN Forum, Ron Paul, Bill White Mentioned on Mainstream (?) Blog - Vanguard News Network Forum

Long demented screed, brief mention of VNN and Bill White about halfway down the article. Article by pony-tailed, failed jazz man and neocon-turned-leftard Charles Johnson.

But we get all kinds of comedy gold out of it! Why not have a bit of fun?

Besides, laughing at Geller and Spencer is a good way of leaving 2011 behind before the absurdity of the 2012 election. ;)

Yeah. It’s kind of a casual slur on Jews. The sort of thing you can get away with if you have a Jewish friend who thinks it’s funny. Sometimes you just hear ‘bagel’.

I’ve heard it in the States, but a quick research trip through the Intertubes suggests it’s most popular in South Africa.

If Geller and Spencer could understand that, one would not need to resort to ridicule. And it seems so simple.

But if they could understand that, they would not need to resort to insults. There would be conversation.

That’s actually not far off. Americans are using less fuel than ever, so we’re exporting more than normal, but since supply and demand rules don’t apply in the oil business, our prices are as high as ever. No, what has happened to the Roma— including from the Bosnians— is far worse.

The Roma had to sue Bosnia in 2006 simply for the right to run for office in the country. The Bosnian Constitution excluded them— along with Jews, and other minorities.

Considering there is no majority in Bosnia, that seems stupid on the Bosnians part.

Who do you mean by “Bosnians?” The Constitution was written to broker power-sharing between the three major ethnic groups; it had the side effect of disenfranchising the others.

As for identifying Serbians, I see your point. It just seems to me that Serbia and their little puppets never got a proper punishment for what happened in the 90’s.

Who should be punished? All of Serbia? Why?

As for having difficulty separating individuals from a group, I tend to categorize everything. Why, I’m not sure.

That’s not all that much of an answer. It’s really, really, really bad to engage in collective punishment or blame. What happened to Bosnia was precisely because of that sort of thinking on the part of Serbians, so it seems very, very bizarre for you to use that same line of logic.

Antisec also said that it revealed another 860,000 user names, email addresses and passwords for those registered to Stratfor, using the data-sharing website Pastebin, and that 50,000 of the email addresses end in .mil and .gov, which are used by the US government.

Antisec said the latest attack is retaliation for the prosecution of US Army private Bradley Manning, who is accused of leaking more than 700,000 US documents to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

Antisec is now drip feeding information obtained during the security breach. In an internet statement, the group said it warned of another leak on New Year’s Eve as well as what it called “noise demonstrations” outside jails and prisons, presumably to show support of convicted hackers: “On this date, we will be launching our contributions to project mayhem by attacking multiple law enforcement targets from coast to coast.”

But why do you keep talking about it as though it’s something that’s happening to someone else? This is your mind. You can control your thinking. You can say “Hey, I’m doing the exact same sort of collective punishment that the Serbians did to the Bosnians— I don’t want to do that”. You can, when you find yourself thinking in group terms, stop yourself.

You don’t appear to think you can, or to try to do so.

I can stop it, it’s just very hard, and being exposed to the stories of the 90’s makes it harder.

Or, put more simply, I lose progress when I see a story Atrocities in the 90’s.

re: #84 WindUpBird

My Muslim friends here are the same way.

You should check out Awkward Black Girl on youtube. I think you’d like it.

I’m sorry. I really don’t get the way you talk about yourself. When you post something like how you’re starting to hate Serbians, are you asking for people to tell you to stop being a bigot, or are you venting, or what?

re: #88 Obdicut

The second. Trying to get someone to stop me from sliding in hatred of an ethnic group. I can see where there might be trouble, and I know I how think, but I also need help, because my emotions can take control.

re: #89 ProLifeLiberal

Well, you’re not really going to get that in a consistent way from an internet message board.

Can’t you internalize it? I mean, you recognize that you’re doing it, since you’re posting in the hopes of being talked down.

Otherwise, I mean, I guess therapy or something would be recommended. The internet is not a replacement for professional help.

Especially since most of what you seem to get angry about is people being collectively punished, and then express a desire to collectively punish. It’s pretty deeply odd.

When I get back to OU, I’ll be talking to the counselor about this then.

So Gellar calls Charles “bagelboy” but isn’t she Jewish? Do this give her a pass? I don’t get it.

She’s Jewish.
I don’t think Charles is, although I actually don’t know that. Charles?
I have no idea what it means.

I admit that a good deal of this is on an emotional level, which is extremely bad in International relations.

While looking at Anti-Ziganism, I found something on Maria Theresa. She sounded like a very nasty person. Like an Austrian version of Selim the Grim, except without the mass killing.

She has not been remembered fondly by the Jews of Europe, let’s just say.

There’s a play, “Stones of Kolin”, which has a song about her. (It also has a song about Frantisek Kmoch, who comes off much better.)

I had not previously heard of Selim the Grim. That’s a great name.

Good idea. I would say, too, that I think some of it is because you’re young, idealistic, and quick to anger over injustice, and you want someone to blame when bad stuff happens. The first three are all good. The last is the problem.

But I think discussing it with a counselor and getting some feedback is a good idea, especially since, given what you seem to like to study, you’re gonna learn about a whole lot of other injustice down the road.

He led a military push that massively increased the Ottoman Empire, crushing the Safavids and the Mameluks and seizing Egypt, Syria, and Iran. He’s also the sultan who invited the Jews of Spain into the Middle East. His son was Suleiman the Magnificent.

“The Grim” epithet is a translation of Yavuz, stearn/steadfast, which sounds even cooler (thanks, Wikipedia—how would I construct RPG campaigns without you?).

His tughra isn’t quite as cool as his son’s, but it’s pretty damn cool.

PLL — my knowledge of the Ottomans is limited. When you say “mass killings” are you talking about warfare attrition or purposeful democide?

97 Romantic Heretic  Sat, Dec 31, 2011 2:37:36pm

Charles? I like you and I like this site.

But, seriously, why are you spending time arguing with the insane and the evil?

98 Genshed  Sat, Dec 31, 2011 8:52:19pm

Every time I read the OP, I think,
“he’s the boogie-woogie bagel boy of Company B”
and want to do more with it. Unfortunately, the amount
of cold medicine currently in my system cautions me
against it.

Very strange post…from the straw man story that I assume proves that not all Muslims are evil, to the weird twitter war that looked like a junior high school teaser getting under the skin of someone who overreacts while one guy tries to be cool.

So you aren’t just a global warming denier, you also hate Muslims? Imagine my surprise.

102 tshinkle  Sun, Jan 1, 2012 9:06:08pm

Wow, that really is a strange connecting of the dots; all I was trying to do is figure out why this story was important enough to warrant posting to the blog. A guy showed he had the rarest of all good human traits (courage), and he happened to be a Muslim. It honestly didn’t cross my mind that a Muslim couldn’t be any more heroic than say, a Jew, Hindu or Christian. I guess the irony was lost on me.
