Obama Bypasses GOP Obstructionists, Installs New Consumer Chief
President Obama is obviously getting fed up with the nihilistic obstructionism of the Republican Party, and today he used a recess appointment to install Richard Cordray as head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
As even they admit, Republicans have been blocking Cordray’s appointment not because they question his qualifications (they don’t), but because they are opposed to the very idea of a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
So now that Obama has used his constitutional authority to make this appointment, the Republican Party, the right wing blogosphere, and Fox News are all freaking out and ranting in unison about this “unprecedented power grab.”
