Video: When Mitt Romney Came To Town

Newt turns his back on right wing principles to attack Romney
Politics • Views: 25,609

Here’s Newt Gingrich’s bizarre 28-minute video attack on Mitt Romney; bizarre not because of the subject matter (which is pretty devastating to Romney), but because of the political orientation. Gingrich is coming at Romney from a position that can only be described as “left wing” — criticizing Romney for precisely the Republican values that Newt (and every other candidate) espouses.

I don’t think I’ve seen a better demonstration of an absolutely amoral lust for power — from Gingrich and from Romney. With this video, Gingrich is throwing the entire GOP ideology under the bus.

I don’t think Gingrich would have behaved with any more scruples or empathy than Rodney did.

But this still does make Rodney look bad.

Gingrich is burning every bridge on the way out of GOPtown.

His bitterness has finally consumed him. He’s out to punish the world for not recognizing his obvious genius.

Gingrich had nothing to do with producing this. It was developed independently then shopped around to different campaigns. Two campaigns passed on it; Gingrich’s superpac decided to go for it. But it was filmed and edited ages ago without any input (ideological or otherwise) from Gingrich.

It’s posted on Newt Gingrich’s campaign website.

This is similar to Ron Paul’s newsletters. Gingrich holds a level of accountability for this.

Gingrich does bear some responsibility for this, but I dont want people to be thinking that this thing was edited together from Gingrich’s perspective. He (or more accurately, his billionaire supporter) just got really desperate and tried to throw the kitchen sink at Romney.

He may not have made the film himself, but he has absolutely endorsed it by using it in his campaign. This is a distinction without a difference.

He was brilliant, ambitious, without scruples, and ultimately a traitor.

He did not write the script, or shoot the videos, or edit the video. It was made, given to him. It is posted on his website. It is safe to say ‘he endorses it.’

I agree with Charles, a distinction without a difference.

This is a bit of a non-sequitur, but this whole race reminds me of a game trailer for the sci-fi MMO “EVE” Dominion edition from a couple years ago. Bear with my geekitude, but the mini-story recounts a pitched battle between factions over a star system. It’s long and drawn out, and bloody, with reinforcements coming in the nick of time and all that, and the defending, severely bruised side finally getting the upper hand.

Then, in the last scene we pan back to the third massive fleet (it happens to be the Russians - oh irony), in the wings, waiting to descend on the fight. They aren’t taking sides among the factions. They are their own side. “Just burn them all, the system belongs to us.” is the order. It’s an _excellent_ ad for the game, but to me looks like an ever more apt metaphor for the 2012 Presidential race.

Here’s the trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Okay ….. Comment #10,000 is “OT.” The footage of the soldiers urinating on the dead taliban terrorists is deplorable. As far as I am concerned, any taliban fighter is fair game as far as being marked for extinction. They are among the most odious cretins on Earth. They torture and oppress women, they murder innocents, and I will never mourn the death of a single one. But we are not taliban, nor should we ever sink to that level. The terrorists were dead. That is enough. Desecrating their bodies is a shameful act that allows our enemies to say “See …. Americans are capable of unspeakable evil.” Those marines are not heroes and they bring shame to the millions of other marines who have served with distinction.

Yesterday, FRI released its latest “scholarly” investigation into how the education and entertainment industries are “disproportionately populated by homosexuals and are in the midst of boy-molesting scandals” … which can all be traced back to the introduction of the birth control pill:

It is therefore no surprise that Newt has gone communard on us, though it is a surprise that he would try this with the GOP.

The Marine Corps and the US military have a term for those actions by those Marines: conduct unbecoming a soldier or Marine.

The investigation is underway and hopefully they can track down who was involved and treat them to the bad conduct/dishonorable discharges they deserve (along with the possibility of beating big rocks into small rocks).
