Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer Announce New Anti-Muslim Front Group

Geller calls herself an “internationally renowned human rights activist”
Wingnuts • Views: 36,019

One of the ways Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and the other anti-Muslim demagogues of the right give themselves a false air of legitimacy is by constantly forming and re-forming new “organizations,” always with lofty-sounding announcements about their noble mission to save the world from the evil Islamic hordes. For example, the latest meaningless new organization, announced by hate group leader Pamela Geller with great fanfare and self-adoration: SION! INTERNATIONAL FREEDOM ORGANIZATIONS UNITE TO CREATE STOP ISLAMIZATION OF NATIONS!!!!! - Atlas Shrugs

The human rights organizations Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) and Stop Islamisation of Europe (SIOE) are joining together to create a new global force determined to defend free societies globally: Stop Islamization of Nations (SION).

SIOA and SIOE are the foremost organizations in America and Europe dedicated to defending human rights, religious liberty, freedom of conscience and the freedom of speech against Islamic supremacist intimidation and attempts to bring elements of Sharia to the West.

At the helm of SION as its founding President is the internationally renowned human rights activist and Executive Director of SIOA, Pamela Geller.

Geller is “internationally renowned,” all right, but her description of herself as a “human rights activist” is just a little short of the reality; in truth, she’s internationally infamous as an obsessed, incoherent, not-very-bright hater who promulgates the kind of conspiracy theories and bigotry that erupted in mass murder last year in Norway, who associates with European fascists such as the British EDL, the German Pro-Köln, and the Belgian Vlaams Belang, who regularly posts long pieces denying the Serbian genocide against Muslims, and whose SIOA is listed as an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, for good reason. (Now the SPLC has another phony front group to add to their list.)

In the West, history must be thought according to the truth, not according to the dictates of ideology.

I think the word "taught" was supposed to go there. Even her ghost writer, the poison dwarf, can't catch everything.

And since when does an 'American/European coalition' qualify as 'global'?

I'm sure SION was deliberate, but the rule of thumb in forming acronyms is to drop prepositions (the United States of America is the USA, not USOA, for example). The proper shorthand for their organization is actually SIN.

16 wrenchwench  Wed, Jan 18, 2012 1:43:07pm

The comments there are hideous, of course.

I'd like to reverse the Islamicization of every nation on earth and reduce Islam back to the Quraysh tribe, then lock them all up in a mental ward until they die.

Every Muslim on earth is the descendant of a victim of brutal Muslim invasion and conquest, except for the few idiots who are descended from the original cult members. These descendants of victims are, therefore, unwitting victims themselves. They need to be liberated (de-programmed), whether they like it or not.

I don't even think Saudi Arabia should be Muslim. They need to remember their pre-Muslim history and throw off the terrible Muslim yoke.

Old-fashioned Romanization of 'Zion'. The original word is closer to TSEE-yon, and there's no letter in the Latin alphabet that corresponds directly to the tsadi.

is it too early to be way o.t.?

out the window of his taxi [larry summers] saw "a teenage white girl with long dreadlocks who wore a homemade t-shirt proclaiming: WE NEED A NEW SYSTEM."

Later that evening he attended a party at the home of then-Secretary of the Treasury Larry Summers along with "ambassadors, politicians, esteemed professors and what seemed like the entire combined senior economist staff of the IMF, World Bank and Treasury."

It turned out Larry Summers had seen the girl too and was eagerly telling his guests about an interaction he had with her:

And so I asked the girl: 'What is this new system that you want? Tell me about it!' And the girl had nothing. Nothing! She had no fucking clue what this magical new system was supposed to be. No one is saying that there aren't problems with the world economy the way it is today. But these kids out there -- they don't know what they want!
"Mr. Secretary," said Zack. "You've got 50 economics PhDs in this room who pretty much run the world economy. And you're asking that girl for a better system? Aren't the solutions your job? You admit billions are living in hell, but it's up to that girl to fix it?"

Summers chuckled and the conversation moved on.

Also, the alchemists were dealing with hard science, where empiricism is pretty straightforward. With economics, it is not-- it is very hard to account for variables.

We got major issues in Libya:

In Libya, a Fundamentalist War against Moderate Islam Takes Shape

Throughout this country, Libyans are discovering that their hard fought battle to win freedoms is at risk. Puritanical Muslims known as Salafis are applying a rigid form of Islam in more and more communities. They have clamped down on the sale of alcohol and demolished the tombs of saints where many local people worship. The small town of Zuwara near the Tunisian border, dominated by a heterodox Muslim sect despised by the Salafis, is quickly becoming the battlefield for competing visions of Libya's future.

Salafis are increasingly attaacking everyone else. Using the instability in the Middle East the same way Hitler did. (Yes, I just Godwined)

I will be confronting the MSA President. About the fact I feel isolated in the group that was once so warm, about his ideology, and his penchant for lying and obfuscating the history of the Sauds and Salafis.

To paraphrase the Doctor. I'm my most dangerous rhetorically when I have nothing to lose. I'm already isolated at MSA, so I am at the bottom.

The final few lines are what got to me, as the author wondered aloud if the reason why it seems that only the B-listers are running this time around is because the GOP's spending every waking moment perpetuating the talking point that the government is the source of all our problems and none of the A-list candidates out there wants to get elected just to be seen as "part of the problem."

Key fact fails to occupy Globe story

Looks like somebody forgot to Google.

The Monday Boston Globe featured a photo on the front page of its Metro section of a lip-locked couple who “found romance” at Occupy Boston.

“Holding hands outside the food tent before the encampment disbanded,” read the accompanying story, “they were the archetype of an Occupy couple: he, a red-headed Mainer with tattoos on his arms; she, a petite upstate New York girl with a heart-shaped face and a boyish haircut, wearing a knit grandmother sweater three sizes too big.”

Good details — but the story failed to mention one big one: Robert “Red” Stitham, the 25 year-old beau whose relationship with Anya Karasik, 18, is the focus of the piece, is a Level 3 sex offender.

My guess is the whole "unethical" bit is them making up excuses for why they don't want to put this interview out there, with the more likely reason being they don't want to lose all access to Newt if he should continue to go on past S.C.

You should know by now that journalistic integrity takes a backseat to business logic when campaign season comes around. Report something that might damage a politician's campaign? Only if you don't want him gracing your studio with his presence ever again! So what if he buggered a goat, he's the front-runner, we can't let people hear such things!

A large part of it boils down to the media mashing together "news" with "gossip," then deciding that the gossip was more interesting than the news. Don't ask me what SOPA is or what Romney's real tax rate is, because I want to know more about the sex lives of everyone in Hollywood.

re: #175 ProLifeLiberal

It's a pursuit of the label "unbiased".

The problem is that much of the media's profit margin is so small that offending anyone with swing can result in lots of red ink, and that's taken priority in modern journalism. Or rather, in modern journalism administration. (The journalists are still trying to post stories. It's the owners and decision makers who've put profit first.)

No joke: Stephen Colbert ahead of Gary Johnson in national poll

If Stephen Colbert were to run as an independent against Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election, more people would vote for him than for than Gary Johnson.

Who says? An actual poll conducted by Public Policy Polling that was released on Wednesday.

According to a survey of 700 American voters conducted between Jan. 13 and Jan. 16, 13 percent would vote for the Comedy Central "Colbert Report" host in a general election against Obama and Romney. In that theoretical contest, Obama would get 41 percent of the vote, Romney 38 percent. Seven percent of those polled were undecided.

Grace Wyler: Sources told Business Insider that Dobson's speech was a "startling moment" that left many in the audience — particularly those who support Gingrich — floored. One source described Dobson's tone as "angry," and said it seemed like Dobson was blaming Callista Gingrich for the couples' affair, which began while the former House Speaker was still married to his second wife (this is Callista Gingrich's first marriage).

"It was clear that, to him, the villain in this story is Callista Gingrich," the source said. "And he was announcing it to 170 ministers with huge mailing lists and television ministries."

And under Obama, the increase so far has been 14.2 million.

Citizen's arrest, New Mexico style:

Suspected drunken driver in N.M. hogtied by witness

A witness hogtied a suspected drunken driver in New Mexico when he pulled over after almost causing several head-on crashes, according to news reports.

Farmington police said Justin Canuto, 22, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 550 about 9:30 Sunday night, The Daily Times reports (via the Associated Press). Witnesses called 911 after watching him narrowly avoid several crashes, and followed him into a convenience store parking lot when he pulled over, a sheriff's official said.

When confronted, Canuto became belligerent and tried to flee, but an unidentified 26-year-old man tackled and hogtied him until deputies could arrive. Canuto was charged with drunken driving. The roper will not be charged.

IMO, Carter's not a raging Stormfront/KKK-type anti-Semite, but I think he has common cause with some of them in that he apparently loves that old-time religion (in which Israel in the focal point of Armageddon and the return of Jesus).

Umm, no.

'Lefties' have a problem with anti-Semites in their midst just as much as 'righties' do, which is to say on the fringes. The hard-core wingnuts and moonbats that subscribe to anti-Semitism have much more in common with each other than they do with the center-left, moderates, or the center-right.

Anti-war protests of the past decade have provided many such examples, with many such events featuring utterly vile slogans and signs aimed at demonizing Israel. The aforementioned Code Pink was one such organization that was not itself a hate group, but it tolerated haters being near it at protests, and it has never supported any sort of armed defense against terrorism.

Really? All lefties have a problem with anti-Semitism?

I'd point out that in the US Congress there are 40+ Jews, nearly all of them Dems except Cantor. Most of those Jewish House members are from big scary lefty cities like NY, LA, Miami, etc. And the Jewish Senators tend to be from scary lefty states like CA and NY. So I guess all those Jewish Dems are anti-Semites.

Gotta hand it to you, when you go off the deep end, there's no coming back.

308 Petero1818  Wed, Jan 18, 2012 6:46:09pm

Lefties issues with Jews started the moment Jews stopped acting like victims. The left (which arguably was dominated by Jews at some levels) has always fought along side victims (both perceived and real). The tide turned in 67 and 73 when Jews stopped being victims. As Israel gained strength, the left has in some respects turned against Israel and has embraced what it perceives as the victims, that being the Palestinians. That is not to say that all criticism of Israel is misplaced as it is not.
