One of Newt’s Ex-Wives Says He Wanted An ‘Open Marriage’

The definition of ‘scumbag’
Politics • Views: 17,136

Newt Gingrich’s second wife Marianne told the Washington Post today that her ex-husband, the champion of “family values” and “traditional marriage between a man and a woman,” asked her for an “open marriage.”

No need to point out the hypocrisy; it’s right there, in your face. With Gingrich, it always has been.

Marianne Gingrich said she was speaking out for the first time this year because she wanted her story told from her point of view, rather than be depicted as the victim or suffer a whisper campaign by supporters of Newt Gingrich’s presidential bid.

“How could he ask me for a divorce on Monday and within 48 hours give a speech on family values and talk about how people treat people?” she said. …

In the four weeks after that 1999 phone call, Marianne and Newt Gingrich saw a counselor. During that time, he seemed to vacillate about what he wanted to do. Marianne Gingrich had learned the name of his then-paramour, Callista — now his wife — though Newt Gingrich never talked about her by name.

Newt Gingrich asked Marianne for an “open marriage” so that he could continue to see whoever he wanted. Marianne Gingrich, who had attended services in a Baptist church with Newt Gingrich, refused.

She said she decided to go public when she heard someone make derogatory comments about her on a radio program.

“Truthfully, my whole purpose was to get out there about who I was, so Newt couldn’t create me as an evil, awful person, which was starting to happen,” she said.

Yah, he’s qualified to be president (of Playboy).

Thing is its not just Newt. Seems like almost all these “family values” people have skeletons in the closet. Whats the point of championing something you have no respect for?

Seems to me I would rather live openly as the person I am than pretend to be something I am not.

What is it about ‘family values’ people that makes them think they are qualified to tell us how to live our lives? They make it so clear from their actions that they don’t value families at all, or at best they place them on the same level as their homes and vehicles. That is, property.

Ah yes, gay marriage is a threat to the institution of marriage. Open marriage, or as some call it, marriage maintained solely for fraudulent purposes such as seeking tax or political benefit, that god is clearly ok with.

Again, there is a minimum level of moral fiber that a human being must have to be president of the United States.

Now we have to add: minimum level of dignity.

Appearing at a campaign event in South Carolina on Thursday, the former speaker called the interview by his ex-wife “tawdry and inappropriate,”

Now there’s a subject on which Newt can claim some expertise, although I think he’s projecting here.

I, for one, am thoroughly disturbed and grossed-out at the thought there were that many women willing to sleep with him *_*

“Truthfully, my whole purpose was to get out there about who I was, so Newt couldn’t create me as an evil, awful person, which was starting to happen,” she said.

Bullshit.

Her whole purpose, is he told her when he dumped her that she couldn’t help him become President and Callista could.

Revenge is a dish best eaten cold.

Newt loves family values so much he wanted to have 2 or 3 going at the same time.

I’m sure a lot of us guys would love an open marriage.

But, unlike Newt, we don’t led our id’s run rampant.

The rubes eat it up with a spoon.

Should be interesting to see what effect this has on the primary. Newt is ahead of Romney in most of the latest polls in S.C. I can hear the push-poll question now: “would you be more or less likely to vote for Gingrich if you knew he asked his 2d wife for an open marriage because he was sleeping with one of his staffers?”

I just can’t see how the Christian right can line up behind Newt. THis could get really weird in the next couple of days. Wonder if Perry might rethink that endorsement.

Keep your wife close and your ex-wives even closer.

Just when you think Newt Gingrich, Forever Disgraced Former Speaker of The House, cannot possibly get any lower than he has gotten he goes and gets a new shovel. He is the poster child for everything wrong with the GOP/TP.

Because he *cough* repented. That’s all they care about. Others have also been excused.

My wife said we could have an open marriage. But her idea of an open marriage would be to open a gash in my skull if I ever fooled around on her.

Oh, was Marianne offended by his demand? She was screwing him when he was someone else’s husband. No end to the hypocrisy in this story….

Wouldn’t that have been a great environment to raise kids. Mommy, Daddy, and Daddy’s mistress.
