Sarah Palin: GOP Establishment Alinsky Cannibals Are Probing Newt Gingrich with Endoscopes

‘All of it came at them at once as facts about me’
Wingnuts • Views: 30,445

Today we discover that Sarah Palin is opposed to cannibalism, which is a relief.

And you can tell from the tortured grammar, incoherent half-sentences, and labored references to Rush Limbaugh that she actually wrote this screed herself.

I am sadly too familiar with these tactics because they were used against the GOP ticket in 2008. The left seeks to single someone out and destroy his or her record and reputation and family using the media as a channel to dump handpicked and half-baked campaign opposition research on the public. The difference in 2008 was that I was largely unknown to the American public, so they had no way of differentiating between the lies and the truth. All of it came at them at once as “facts” about me. But Newt Gingrich is known to us – both the good and the bad.

We know that Newt fought in the trenches during the Reagan Revolution. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out … blah blah blah … Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.” As Rush and others pointed out … blah blah blah … What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stalin-esque rewriting of history. It was Alinsky tactics at their worst.

The most shocking revelation in her essay (besides the fact that Barry Goldwater passed a “torch” to “Ronnie” Reagan, who then passed it to Newt Gingrich) is that the evil GOP establishment, besides being Stalin-esque cannibals, are actually using endoscopes to do their dirty work:

Oddly, they’re now using every available microscope and endoscope – along with rewriting history – in attempts to character assassinate anyone challenging their chosen one in their own party’s primary. So, one must ask, who are they really running against?

Heh. Comments are a hoot.

What we really need is to change the laws to enable George W. Bush to become a 3d term president, and a 4th and 5th and 6th until someone comes along that can properly fill his shoes ..

Hand-picked and half-baked are kind of contradictory. If they're carefully hand-picking the stuff, it's probably not half-baked. Why wouldn't you hand-pick the fully baked oh fuck it it's Palin.

It's the GOP/TP idea of sticking it to the Republican party establishment and to the Soros-backed Mitt Romney campaign. Or something.

Is Gingrich the historian really frightened of the influence of a man who devoted his life to helping poor folks find their political voice?

He may not be personally frightened, but I think what Alinsky represents and what he was is exactly what the Kochs and other rich conservatives don't want.

Because we’ll show the middle class their real enemies: the corporate power elite that runs and ruins the country — the true beneficiaries of Nixon’s [fill in any politician's name...] so-called economic reforms...

From Palin's Christmas message:

My family and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I offer this to all because Christmas is a holiday for all, whether you are a Christian believer or not.

From the one between the Christmas one and the cannibalism one:

Of course, as an Alaskan I’m also a frequent flyer on this airlines, which always seems to provide superb service. When I heard from Rev. Graham, I immediately sent the following letter to the CEO and President of Alaska Airlines.

It feels so odd that some may be offended by a little card with an encouraging non-denominational verse from the Psalms, but how often do we hear complaints about tawdry ads or billboard images flashing at us everywhere we turn?

She doesn't know what secularism is, does she. She thinks it's a branch of Christianity.

They won't give up precisely because he's less known: while not a tabula rasa, Alinksy doesn't have an immediate, marked legacy in the public mind. They've taken his book, pulled quotes to make him sound scary, and most people won't have the curiosity or skepticism to seek out information about him.

And, frankly, I think it was a feature, not a bug, that the guy has a non-WASP, Russian-sounding name. Not necessarily a dog whistle of Jewish-nesss specifically, but an invocation of the foreign, the Eastern European, and the Soviet. It might even be a callback to Slavic/Russian ethnicity as liminal and not-quite white (and specificly inclined to "Oriental" despotism).

Yes, so far you have certainly been lucky. Next door, the old schoolteacher was arrested a few weeks ago for failing to abuse President Truman in a history lesson. Half a block away, the chairperson of the local Democratic party resisted arrest and was shot on the spot. (Her Republican opposite number, from [10] another section of town, is in the uranium mines in Northwest Canada and rumored to be on the point of death.) The widow in the house across the way had a son in the FBI, who has vanished without trace. And the Chinese couple a little farther down have been deported....

Just as the airlines hope that their passengers will never have to follow the instructions they give you on what to do in case of a disaster, so we, for our part, hope you may never have to follow the advice we have given you in the preceding pages. But time is running short. We would be deceiving you if we pretended that the nightmare we have described is not a real and deadly possibility. If it does come about, we have one last piece of advice:

BURN THIS BOOK.

The sad thing is that Conquest is and was a pretty respectable historian who should have known better. I guess he was in it for a quick buck.

I knew a number of people who were otherwise very reasonable but would go all "Wolverines!" at the simple mention of the Soviet Union. They usually were apologists for the Waffen SS as well. Almost all of them got kicked out of the Army for being "unsuited to military service."

Yes! The thing is, this book would be more or less truthful in 1930s-1950s. They were writing in 1984. That's 3 years before the perestroika. USSR of 1970s-1980s was not USSR of 1930s-1950s, yet Conquest and White insist on applying the Stalin-era standards. This leads to comic out-of-place entries like:

Stop The War Protests Against Iran And Syria Intervention

Hundreds of anti-war protesters gathered in central London today at a demonstration against Western intervention in Iran and Syria.

The rally, organised by the Stop the War Coalition, took place outside the US embassy in Grosvenor Square with a number of speakers addressing the 200-strong crowd.

Protesters waved banners bearing the words "Don't attack Iran" and "Hands off Iran and Syria", while the crowd joined together in chanting: "One, two, three, four, we don't want another war. Five, six, seven, eight, stop the killing, stop the hate."

As always, waving the Soviet flag is a sign of a serious protest.

National day of action to say 'No War on Iran'

A broad spectrum of Occupy protesters and anti-war organizations are scheduled to hold coordinated protests across the United States on February 4 to declare “no war, no sanctions, no intervention, no assassinations against Iran.”

On a Jan. 17 conference call, activists agreed on the need to stop U.S. imperialism and/or Israel from launching a military attack on Iran. There was also a consensus that the new sanctions President Barack Obama signed into law on Dec. 31 - with the goal of breaking the Iranian central bank - were themselves an act of war aimed at the Iranian people.

155 Lord Baron Viscount Duke Earl Count Planckton  Sat, Jan 28, 2012 12:29:48pm

OK, [Link: urbanlegends.about.com...]

The forwarded email asserts that because Obama's Kenyan father wasn't a U.S. citizen, and because his mother, who was a citizen, didn't fulfill the supposed legal requirement of "resid[ing] in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16," Obama himself was therefore not a citizen at birth.

That is false on two counts:

Obama was born on U.S. soil — in Honolulu, Hawaii — and was therefore a citizen at birth by virtue of the Fourteenth Amendment (and the principle of jus soli).
The stated residency requirement, in effect between 1952 and 1986, applied only to parents of individuals born outside the United States.
Therefore Barack Obama is, in fact, a U.S. citizen. But some still argue that he is not a natural-born citizen. The reasons have to do with the disputed meaning of the term "natural born" itself.

However, on assumption that Obama was not born on the US soil, the residency requirement kicks into place.

[Link: www.ranchodlaw.com...]

The rules changed again for people born between January 14, 1941, and December 23, 1952. When one parent was a citizen and the other a foreign national, the rules changed substantially. To pass on citizenship, the citizen parent must have resided in the U.S. for at least 10 years before the birth of the child, and at least five of those years had to be after the parent turned 16. Children born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother who met the residence requirements were automatically citizens.

Obama's mother would be too young to qualify. So if Obama were born outside of the US, he would not automatically get the citizenship (and certainly would not have been a natural born citizen). Which is why birfers are intent on proving that Obama was born in Kenya.

However, since Obama was born in the US, this fact makes all the stuff about the citizenship of his parents moot - he is a natural born citizen by jus soli.

It varies. A random left-wing Democrat college student is going to see this very differently from a sixty-ish ideological Marxist.

What I usually get is some combination of:

1. We're worse.
2. But Israel!
3. Of course I don't approve of the Iranian government, but what about the Iranian people.
4. Everything you THINK you know about Iran comes from the biased Western press.
5. People in Iran are totally fine. Everything you hear to the contrary is a lie.
6. The West is responsible for Iran's present government. Bet you didn't know that!
7. Let me tell you about Mossadegh. I can pronounce his name!
8. They don't want nukes. Who told you that?
9. I TOTALLY condemn Iran's government. Now, what about Israel? And the U.S.? They're worse.

This is, of course, far from universal, but the big anti-war orgs have gone to a 'no sanctions, no nothing, LEAVE IRAN ALONE!' place.

Good list. I suspect 4,5 and 6 are among the more prominent reasons.

The birth of birtherism:

Chester Alan Arthur was born October 5, 1829, in Fairfield, Vermont.[note 1] His father, William Arthur, was born just outside the village of Cullybackey, County Antrim, Ireland, and emigrated to Dunham, Lower Canada (in present-day Quebec) in 1818 or 1819 after graduating from Belfast College.[5] Arthur's mother, Malvina Stone, was born in Vermont, the daughter of George Washington Stone and Judith Stevens. Malvina's family was primarily of English descent, and her grandfather, Uriah Stone, fought in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.[5] Arthur's mother met his father while he was teaching at a school in Dunham, just over the border from her native Vermont, and the two soon married.[5] After their first child, Regina, was born in Dunham, the Arthurs moved around Vermont in quick succession to Burlington, Jericho, and Waterville, as William moved to jobs with different schools.[5] In Waterville, William Arthur departed from his Presbyterian upbringing and joined the Free Will Baptists, spending the rest of his life as a minister in that sect.[5] He also became an outspoken abolitionist, which at times made him unpopular with parts of his congregations and contributed to the family's frequent moves.[6] In 1828, the family moved again, to Fairfield, where Chester Alan Arthur was born the following year.[4] He was named "Chester" after Chester Abell, the physician and family friend who assisted in his birth, and "Alan" after his paternal grandfather.[note 2] After Arthur's birth, the family remained in Fairfield until 1832, when the elder Arthur's profession took them on the road again to several towns in Vermont and upstate New York, finally settling in the Schenectady area.[7]

William Arthur's frequent moves would later form the basis for accusations that Chester Arthur was not a native-born citizen of the United States. After Arthur was nominated for Vice President in 1880, his political opponents suggested that he might be constitutionally ineligible to hold that office.[8] A New York attorney, Arthur P. Hinman, apparently hired by his opponents, explored rumors of Arthur's foreign birth.[9] Hinman initially alleged that Arthur was born in Ireland and did not come to the United States until he was fourteen years old, which would make him ineligible for the Vice Presidency under the United States Constitution's natural-born citizen clause.[9][note 3] When that story did not take root, Hinman spread a new rumor that Arthur was born in Canada, but this claim also failed to gain credence.[9]

Chester A . Arthur nominated Horace Gray to the Supreme Court. Gray wrote the majority opinion in US v. Wong Kim Ark, which established the jus solis basis for being born a US Citizen.

Wheels within wheels people. If we can get the Supreme Court to invalidate Chester A. Arthur then everything unravels, Gray's opinion will be null and void, Obama won't be President anymore, and Hitler will never have been born.

I don't see why it wouldn't. In any case, that's the law.

I think that a reasonable interpretation of the law would see that the law is intended to prevent people from establishing residency in their childhoods, and then using it in adulthood to pass citizenship on to their children, after having lived as an adult solely in France or Kenya or wherever.

I think it would be hard to argue that a woman under the age of twenty-two when she gives birth has less of a right to pass her citizenship on to her children than a woman who gives birth after that point.

I'd actually be startled to learn there hasn't been a challenge to that before.

I THINK, if I get it correctly, that there are 136 seats reserved for the political party's 'lists', and of those, 50% must be given to women, however there are also 64 individual seats, which may be won without regard to the lists, or to gender equity. So women are assured at least 67 seats out of 200, even if all of the individual seats go to men.

I don't understand how you get to her 'worst case' scenario, though. As I calculate it, women will hold 33% even if they don't win a single individual seat.
