Allen West Says to President Obama, ‘Get the Hell Out of the US,’ Then Denies He Said It

Weasel of the day
Wingnuts • Views: 25,551

Yesterday in Palm Beach, one of the right wing’s deranged heroes, Allen West, took a break from trying to end funding for NPR and repeal the 14th Amendment to deliver an especially nasty speech in which he told President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to “take their message of equality” and “get the hell out of the United States of America.”

This is a battlefield that we must stand upon and we need to let president Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and my dear friend, the chairman of the Democrat National Committee [Debbie Wasserman-Schultz], we need to let them know that Florida is not on the table. Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, and take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.

Youtube Video

Today, in time-tested right wing demagogue fashion, he’s blaming the news media for reporting his words, and simply lying about what he said.

WEST: The other thing is that I did not refer to any person leaving. If you go back and read the transcript of the message that I gave, it was about equality of achievement, it was about economic dependence, it was about enslaving the American entrepreneur’s will and spirit. That message needs to leave this country. And that was what I was referring to. And I think that anyone that sat back and looked at the entirety of that 12 minute, 45 second speech would understand that we’re talking about a contrast of visions of this country.

How do you take your message to Europe without actually going to Europe?

but get the hell out of the United States of America.

Well, I can see where he might have meant "get [it] the hell out...". Whatever.

But this is just stupid:

Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, and take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else.

Iraq interrogation incident

While serving in Taji, Iraq, West received information from an intelligence specialist about a reported plot to ambush him and his men.[6] The alleged plot reportedly involved Yahya Jhodri Hamoodi, a civilian Iraqi police officer.[6] West, who was not responsible for conducting interrogations in Iraq and had never conducted nor witnessed one, had his men detain Hamoodi.[6] In the process of detaining Mr. Hamoodi, soldiers testified that Hamoodi appeared to reach for his weapon and needed to be subdued.[6] Hamoodi was beaten by four soldiers from the 220th Field Artillery Battalion on the head and body.[10] West then fired his pistol near Hamoodi's head,[6] after which Hamoodi provided West with names and information, which Hamoodi later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain."[6] At least one of these suspects was arrested as a result, but no plans for attacks or weapons were found.[6] West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi."[6]

West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers."[10] The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000.[6] LTC West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits in the summer of 2004. Asked if he would act differently under similar circumstances again, West testified, "If it's about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."[11]

McConnell’s Revisionist History: Congress Gave Obama Everything He Wanted!

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has embraced the argument that President Obama was able to pass every bit of his legislative agenda in his first two years thanks to large Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress. It’s intended as a counterpoint to the President’s re-election strategy of attacking the congressional GOP as do-nothing obstructionists. But it’s also a revisionist history of the 111th Congress, during which McConnell more than any other Republican in Washington stood athwart Obama’s agenda to great effect.

The White House has “been trying to pretend like the President just showed up yesterday, just got sworn in and started fresh,” McConnell declared Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. “In fact, he’s been in office for three years. He got everything he wanted from a completely compliant Congress for two of those three years… We are living in the Obama economy.”

True, but if I went around attributing the attitudes of the far left to 'the Left' around here, I'm pretty sure I'd hear about it.

Was the original brush broad? Yes, but dragonfire apologized for it already. That settles it, IMO.

Still, the sentiment is not uncommon on far right wing blogs and websites. There's been a shitload of talk since he got elected that shows a very ugly racist streak -- the birther canard, the comments about him being a "usurper", etc. Charles has been documenting it for ages.

As long as Republican leaders actively kiss up to Limbaugh and his ilk, terms like "right" and "far-right" may as well be redundant.

But that's in terms of the politicians, not the people. Right and left are very bad descriptors, and this is part of the reason why. Someone might consider themselves on the 'right' and share almost nothing in common with the national 'right'.

People like Allen West and Florida Gov. Rick Scott are the legacy of the Tea Party. Florida Republicans fell hard for the teabag line in the last election, and now they're reaping what they sowed.

The best weapon for discrediting the Tea Party is their own success. Every state that went teabag is now paying for it, as these loons push social conservative legislation that will end up being reversed after costing millions of dollars to pass their stupid laws and try to defend them in court. Idiots, all of them. Anyone who voted for a teabagger got what they deserved.

Lips firmly planted on Limbaugh's ass. Limbaugh he who condemned Obama's Uganda policy because the "LRA are Christians fighting the good fight against Muslims." And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's also intellectually inappropriate to ascribe a constant set 'far' fraction to either party. By all appearances, this sort of language seems to be getting more play than what is often chalked up to some far-$DIRECTION fringe.

Does anyone? Rinsed Prius, maybe?

Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Monday blasted her Republican counterpart, Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Reince Priebus, for comparing President Obama to the captain of the Costa Concordia cruise liner, which ran aground off the coast of Tuscany earlier this month and resulted in the deaths of at least 17 people.

And a the guy involved did a very dumb thing, went running down the street after the robber, gun in hand and fired a shot. Thankfully it seems nobody on our crowded streets were hit by the stray bullet.

Guns are not for recovering stolen merch. They are for defense of human beings. I'd hate to kill someone over a watch.
