Here’s an open thread to keep up on news from the Nevada GOP caucuses, in which Mitt Romney is expected to thoroughly trounce Newt “Poor Kids Make Great Janitors” Gingrich.

Ron “I Can’t Help It If White Supremacists Dig Me” Paul, for some reason, seems confident that he’ll beat Gingrich for second place.

If you’re on Twitter, statewide vote totals are being tweeted by @NVGOP

Romney at this point has a 20 something point lead. He is the Republican nominee unless he is found in bed with a live boy or a dead woman.

I have no idea why it is taking so long to get the results. The voting was done by noon at all precincts as far as I can tell.

Romney: 37%
Paul 29%
Gingrich 19%

That's without the more populated counties counted yet.

Ron Paul has apparently won Nye County with 45% of the vote.

Possible explanations:
The county has no incorporated cities. The county seat is Tonopah, a "census designated place" (CDP).
The largest community is Pahrump (another CDP), home of Art Bell. Bell referred to the county as the "Land of Nye" on his radio show.
The Nevada Test Site and the Yucca Mountain non-storage facility are in the county.
It is one of 11 Nevada counties where prostitution is legal.

All in all, it sounds like a giant Slab City, a paradise for fringe-dwellers of all kinds.

LBJ told a story about a man who was applying for a job with a railroad. One of the questions was: " What would you do if you saw that two trains were on a collision course?"
He wrote, "I'd call my brother."
He was asked why he would call his brother. He replied, "He ain't never seen a train crash."

Esmeralda is another whacked out fringe area, though not so densely populated as Nye County. In fact, it is barely populated at all. In 2010 it had 736 residents. This is 0.1045 inhabitants per km² (0.2706/sq mi), the second lowest figure of any county outside Alaska. The lowest is Loving County Texas, which is also the least populous county, with 82 residents in 2010.

(In 2000, when the population was 976) The racial makeup of the (Esmeralda) county was 81.98% White, 0.10% Black or African American, 5.15% Native American, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 7.62% from other races, and 4.94% from two or more races.

This means there was one black person in the county that year.

Boring interstates. Stopped in Vegas for a day. Yeah, no doubt those places you mention are nice. I had the same thing going on while driving through southern Wyoming. Finally I took a detour to see the Medicine Bow mountains where it was beautiful. It's unfortunate what we've done to the landscape as a whole however. Looky here:

The above mentioned Mentone TX (pop. 19) was the object of a take-over attempt by libertarian whackos in 2006. This so-called Free Town project received national publicity.

According to a website for Mr. Pendarvis' movement, their objectives were to "remove oppressive Regulations...and stop enforcement of Laws prohibiting Victimless Acts among Consenting Adults, such as Dueling, Gambling, Incest, Price-Gouging, Cannibalism, and Drug Handling." Additionally, the group sought "to ensure that the Sheriff's Office or the Town Police are never allowed to waste valuable Town resources...to oppress our residents by the investigation or enforcement of violations of Laws that punish Truancy, Drug Trafficking, Prostitution, Obscenity, Organ Trafficking, BumFights, and other Victimless 'Crimes'." (emphasis added)

No doubt Paul can count on the cannibal and organ-trafficker vote. This raises a paradox. What if I go there and challenge some of these victimless criminals to a duel every time one of them pops up? In all modesty, I think I am a better shot than the average cannibal, not sure about organ traffickers though.

76 Charles Johnson  Sat, Feb 4, 2012 6:24:59pm

Best areas of course are National Parks. Then the National Monuments and Wilderness Areas. Not so much National Forrest and BLM land but they're still much better than the private holdings. We're lucky we have the first set as it is. Those are the few remaining real wilderness areas and even those areas are stressed. Just a few islands of the way nature used to really be before the industrial revolution. It's a stark contrast when you leave those areas and see the immediate change right when you cross the border. Suddenly you go from old growth to tree farms and cleared land in an instant.

Honest rape. Unbelievable that we have candidates like this in 2012. They're all a bunch of throwbacks from a dying era that will soon be in the dustbin of history. Any "progressive" that remains "interested" in Ron Paul after comments like this needs to get his head examined. He and his ilk would also love to see the destruction of National Parks and other wilderness areas claiming "the private sector could do a better job and blah, blah, blah."

The documented existence of Libertarian cannibalism proponents reminds me of what the judge supposedly said to Alferd Packer when he sentenced Packer for cannibalism and murder:

There was seven Democrats in Hinsdale County, but you, you voracious, man-eatin' son of a bitch, you ate five of them. I sentence you to be hanged by the neck until dead, as a warning against reducing the Democratic population of the state.

It may also provide a clue which voting population these particular libertarians intend to serve* if elected.

In all modesty, I think I am a better shot than the average cannibal, not sure about organ traffickers though.

The problem is when the cannibals become the primary customers of the organ traffickers. I'm imagining a Tyson Chicken-type operation springing up, except with humans. Do free-range organic children taste better than factory farm children?

In an unregulated organ market, there must be all sorts of problems with organlegging, or leglegging, or whatever you call it. How would the cannibals be assured that they were getting tender human pancreas and not just some pig's from the local slaughterhouse?

Because both the parties and the media have an interest in an early-on 'horserace'. Also, by using smaller states early on candidates with les money can try to introduce themselves. A state with a major media market like Florida or Illinois is very expensive to campaign in, so having such states go early would favor the candidate with the most money to an even greater degree than is currently the case.

This has been on this site before but here's a CNN clip from Anderson 360 about the death of Charity Smith, a teenage girl killed by a drunk driver who was pardoned by Hayley Barbour at the closing of his tenure as governor of Mississippi. Have you no sense of showmanship? You don't start the show with the big number. Save it for the finish.

Besides it's fun for these little counties to get some attention. They're like Punxsutawney Phil - we make a big deal over their reaction even though no one seriously thinks they have any effect on future outcomes.

Moreover, starting small allows campaign managers to test out their ad strategies and talking points on smaller audiences first. If you had to air an ad in California early on and it bombed and offended people, then even if you won the nomination you'd still be on the crap list of the voter's in that state.

re: #184 William of Orange

He was actually sitting in jail for the fourth DUI (arrested not convicted yet, investigation not completed) when the pardon for the third DUI came through. All Barbour's office had to do was look up the guy they were about to pardon and see that he was sitting in jail for yet another offense above and beyond the one they were about to wipe clean.

The pardon erases that felony conviction, meaning he went from two misdemeanor DUI's plus one felony conviction to just the two misdemeanors. So now the possible sentencing range for this fourth offense is markedly reduced.

If Barbour was hoping for a VP nomination he can kiss that goodbye. It's good to see him self destruct like this, because he would compliment Romney well, shoring up Mitt's weaknesses by being an evangelical Southern governor. Also Haley is a money raising machine.

I really despise people who think abortion should be illegal because fetuses are human lives, but that some abortions should be OK if a woman can prove it's really, REALLY not her fault she's pregnant, because she didn't do anything slutty like have consensual sex.

We had one thoroughly disingenuous anti-abortion type here (a while ago, posted mostly on dead threads) who used the following "logic" to explain his position: if a woman has sex - regardless of whether or not she uses contraception - she automatically enters into a "contract" to carry any pregnancy that may result to term (i.e. by consenting to sex, she consents to pregnancy). Of course, others asked him how that could possibly apply to a rape/incest victim, whose abortion rights he still didn't support.

He never had the nerve to offer anything even slightly resembling an honest answer.

South Dakota passes measure urging study of Bible in school

A measure encouraging South Dakota schools to provide academic instruction on the Bible has won final approval from the state legislature amid criticism from some lawmakers that it could blur the line between government and religion.

The Senate voted 25-10 on Monday to pass the resolution, which has no force of law. The House passed it last week. Sen. Elizabeth Kraus, R-Rapid City, said students need to learn about the Bible because it permeates culture, laws and literature. Many young people know very little about the Bible, and schools can instruct on it without promoting religion, she said.

“The Bible is alone in terms of its influence on Western civilization,” she said.

Sen. Tom Hansen, R-Huron, said he opposes the measure because it could get government involved in religious issues.

State Sen. Bruce Rampelberg, R-Rapid City, supported the resolution, saying it was one move toward “taking back the heritage of our country.” But other lawmakers criticized the move. “It sends the message that other religious texts are not as important as the Bible, which I think is probably a dangerous path for us to start down,” said Sen. Angie Buhl, D-Sioux Falls, RCJ reported.

State Rep. Steve Hickey, R-Sioux Falls, a sponsor of the bill, said he would be fine with teaching other religious texts in school, based on their cultural and historical significance. But Hickey, who is also a pastor, indicated the resolution was a response to the secular nature of public schools.

“I would tell those who fear this, now you know how Christians feel when they send their kids off to a public school that is overtly hostile and propagates secular humanism,” he said, according to Talking Points Memo.

One dictionary definition of "Revancism":

a policy of seeking to retaliate, esp. to recover lost territory.

Two of the paragraphs I quoted from the WSJ article:

State Rep. Steve Hickey, R-Sioux Falls, a sponsor of the bill, said he would be fine with teaching other religious texts in school, based on their cultural and historical significance. But Hickey, who is also a pastor, indicated the resolution was a response to the secular nature of public schools.

Hickey is seeking to retaliate against the secularists. The "lost ground" as found in the definition is, in this case, public school systems.

Sean Carroll (the physicist) tries to educate using football:

A 3.8-Sigma Anomaly

Every professional football game begins with the flip of a coin, to determine who gets the ball first. In the case of the Super Bowl, the teams represent the National Football Conference (NFC) or American Football Conference (AFC).

Interestingly, the last 14 coin flips have been won by the NFC.

Working out the numbers, the chances of 14 coin flips in a row being equal is 1 in 8,192. (The linked article says 1 in 16,000, which comes from 2^14; but that first coin flip has to be something, so the chances of 14 in a row are really 1 in 2^13. The anomaly would be just as strange if the AFC had won every time.) That’s a better than 3.8-sigma effect! Enough to call a press conference, if this were particle physics.

The question is … is this really a signal, or did we just get lucky? Is it a fair coin and the NFC has just been the happy recipient of a statistical fluctuation, or is there something fishy about the coin? Remember Barry Greenstein’s parable about how different people compute probabilities.

And let it be a lesson the next time you’re excited about 3-sigma anomalies.

Sean is referring to (I believe), among other news items, the claim a couple of months ago of faster-than-light neutrinos in Italy. It was a story pounced on by the popular press, but the experimentalists related that their measurements indicated only a 3 sigma deviation from the expected value. Sean is illustrating via the coin toss example that 3 sigma results are encountered everyday, and that needs to be understood in discussing underlying physical causes (unless you believe the official NFL coin is not truly a fair coin and that the game is rigged.)

I have no problem with conceding that a fetus is a human life, I just don't believe that the term human life automatically confers any rights. Personhood is all about sentience, which was clearly upheld in Schindler v. Schiavo - despite the best efforts of two Bushes, the Florida state legislature, and US House approving a bill of attainder passed by only 3 US Senate Republicans on a voice vote, with 97 Senators not even being present.

If all human life inherently qualifies for personhood then HeLa cells easily constitute the largest group of rights bearing organisms on the planet.

The problem arrises when we insist on using the term human instead of person. Technically any independent organism with 48 human chromosomes is human, even gametes are half (haploid) human. The term human is so ambiguous and broad that it's become meaningless, and yet it gets tossed around as if it carries great weight by people who advocate a policy that increases the odds of reproductive success for rapists.

LA Times Liberal media spy shown the door by canny caucus goers (///):

[Link: www.latimes.com...]

I chose at random precinct 1721, where voters had crammed into a small, stuffy room. It wasn’t much of a secret that I was a reporter: I wore a press badge issued by the Clark County GOP around my neck and was scribbling on a yellow notepad the size of a hardcover book.

...

To understand what happened next, some context is in order. There is a wing of the Nevada GOP that is very concerned – critics would say paranoid – about outside forces messing with the balloting process.

Awhile back, state party officials suggested registering voters on caucus day. The same tactic handed Democrats 30,000 new voters in 2008, and helped pave the way for President Obama’s commanding victory in the state. But some members of the Nevada Republican Party, convinced same-day registration would lead to voter fraud, protested furiously enough to kill the proposal.

So the verdict on my presence was loud, and near-unanimous.

“BOOOOOOO!”

“You’re a bunch of liars!” someone shouted.

“Spy! She’s a spy!” someone else said.

A woman waved a button at me, which said: DON’T BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA.

...

Then a man walked over to me and said if I didn’t leave, he’d call security. So I left the room while voters cast their ballots.

A short time later, a male party volunteer tried to tell precinct 1721’s leaders that they were wrong, but at that point I was persona non grata. When I tried to reenter the room, an elderly man said people were still voting, grabbed my arm, pushed me away and shut the door in my face.

Exactly. Since the lack of a functional cerebral cortex is the definition of human death that allows us to ethically harvest organs and tissue, it should also be the definition of human life. A fertilized egg containing the genome of a human is no more sentient than a tree. That's why a developing human embryo recapitulates all of the features of our climb up the evolutionary ladder. "ONTOGENY RECAPITULATES PHYLOGENY"!

Um... wait...

The theory of recapitulation, also called the biogenetic law or embryological parallelism—and often expressed as "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny"—is a disproven biological hypothesis that in developing from embryo to adult, animals go through stages resembling or representing successive stages in the evolution of their remote ancestors. With different formulations, such ideas have been applied and extended to several fields and areas, including the origin of language, biology, cognition and mental activities,[1] anthropology[2], education theory[3] and developmental psychology.[4] While some examples of embryonic stages showing superficial features of ancestral organisms exist, the ontological hypothesis itself has been completely disproven for the field biology.

As I mentioned last night, I've been obsessed this week with watching/re-watching a good selection of the nuclear apocalypse movies of the past (the few good ones, and some bad ones)... don't know why.

Anyway, one conclusion I've come to is that the movie makers are portraying humans in non-realistic ways. No doubt the writers/directors want to portray hyped stereotypes, and that does lead to conflict in the story-lines, and so on, but it also makes the stories unrealistic.

Reality - we are tribal animals. We seek out and need the company of others. Mad Max (and I'm avoiding those movies) scenarios exist only to sell movies. In real life, social chaos is short lived, and once the frenzy dies down a new order emerges.

246 freetoken  Sat, Feb 4, 2012 11:58:24pm

I also notice that in those movies which the makers want to be deemed as "serious" have protagonists that are usually clueless idiots.

Now, there are many clueless idiots in this world, but even in my most elitist moments, when I deride my fellow Americans as being incompetent, I realize that doesn't make them totally clueless.

There's an old story about a Los Angeles Times editor, the guy whose job it was to do the little weather box on the top corner of the front page... After ten years or so he cracked. One day, everyone's paper had, instead of the day's forecast, just a scriptural Chapter & Verse notation.

If one went to the proper translation to look it up, it said "the same today as yesterday, and tomorrow, and forevermore."

Fiscal responsibility!

[Link: www.courthousenews.com...]

The Southern Republican Leadership Conference booked nearly every room in the Charleston Place hotel for the Republican primary in January, and then skipped out on the $227,872 bill, the luxury venue claims in the city's court of common pleas.

Charleston Place says the January 19-22, 2012, reservation was made 10 months in advance, and that South Carolina political operative Robert C. Cahaly signed the agreement. The contract was allegedly amended with one month to spare on Dec. 20, 2011.

Under the terms of the contract, the hotel was to provide the Republican guests with rooms, food, beverage and other services, according to the complaint. Payment of all outstanding charges was to be made at the conclusion of the conference, the hotel says.

"Plaintiff has made demand upon the defendants for payment of this balance but the defendants have refused to pay," according to the complaint.

In reality, the conference "was grossly undercapitalized, failed to observe corporate formalities, was insolvent, and was mere used as a façade for the operations of the defendant Cahaly," the lawsuit states. "Upon information and belief, the defendant Cahaly, an individual businessman, has sought to hide from the normal consequences of carefree entrepreneuring by doing so through a corporate shell."

"Due to their incompetence, the defendants failed to properly plan or manage the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, and it was poorly attended," the hotel says. "The conference was so poorly attended as to cause one Republican candidate, Newt Gingrich, to cancel his appearance."

"Poor attendance caused many of the conference sponsors to leave the conference," the complaint also states. "Poor attendance left the defendants responsible for a significant payment to the plaintiff under the terms of the contract."

But at 3:01 p.m. on the day they were meant to check out of the hotel, the defendants allegedly emailed its management and canceled the meeting at which they were supposed to settle their bill.

In the email, the defendants "made the following false, fraudulent and unsubstantiated claims in an effort to evade their responsibility for payment ... that there had been 'inappropriate sharing of privileged SRLC/Charleston Place information'; that there were 'various difficulties with refunds or adjustments'; and that 'the overall treatment of [the SRCL's] staff by some of the hotel staff [had to] be addressed, especially [the hotel manager's] instructing of an SRLC staffer to engage in illegal activity,'" according to the complaint.

Cahaly is also an advisor to S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley.

And now for this morning's mental gobbledygook.

By supporting Israel, Beijing stands to lose nothing and gain a great deal. Just as China's support for Iran has not harmed its trade ties - and its burgeoning military ties - with the likes of Saudi Arabia, so its support for Israel will likely have no impact on its ties in the Arab world. More important for China, its support for Israel would enhance its ability to challenge the UN-besotted Obama White House in the great power game. Ironically, to the extent that by supporting Israel China secures the rights of nation-states threatened by the rapidly expanding UN colossus, China will become a pivotal defender of embattled democracies on the world stage.

More news on the RWNJ front. We got to the UK...

Wind farm subsidy cut urged by MPs

More than 100 Conservative MPs have written to the prime minister urging him to cut subsidies for wind turbines.

They also want planning rules changed to make it easier for local people to object to their construction.

The Tory MPs - joined by some backbenchers from other parties - questioned the amount of money going to the sector during "straitened times".

But the government said wind farms were a "cost-effective and valuable part of the UK's diverse energy mix"....

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

But now that the first generation of workers to depend on the new system is beginning to retire, Chileans are finding that it is falling far short of what was originally advertised under the authoritarian government of Gen. Augusto Pinochet.

For all the program's success in economic terms, the government continues to direct billions of dollars to a safety net for those whose contributions were not large enough to ensure even a minimum pension approaching $140 a month. Many others - because they earned much of their income in the underground economy, are self-employed, or work only seasonally - remain outside the system altogether. Combined, those groups constitute roughly half the Chilean labor force. Only half of workers are captured by the system.

296 Gus  Sun, Feb 5, 2012 6:10:28am

Or from the Telegraph:

101 Tories revolt over wind farms

A total of 101 Tory MPs have written to the Prime Minister demanding that the £400 million-a-year subsidies paid to the “inefficient” onshore wind turbine industry are “dramatically cut”.

The backbenchers, joined by some MPs from other parties, have also called on Mr Cameron to tighten up planning laws so local people have a better chance of stopping new farms being developed and protecting the countryside.

The demands will be a headache for Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat Energy Secretary, who joined the Cabinet on Friday when Chris Huhne resigned after being charged with perverting the course of justice...

Canadians wingnuts also fear wind power.

Wind turbines off the Scarborough Bluffs could kill birds, foul the water, wreck the waterfront and damage human health, a stream of concerned residents told city council's executive committee Monday.

"There is nowhere in the world that you can build turbines so close to shore," said John LaForet, president of Wind Concerns Ontario.

"There are real risks here to human health and there are real risks to the health of the lake," added LaForet, a council candidate for Ward 43.

[...]

But the litany of ill effects attributed to the construction of wind turbines was hotly disputed by scientists and environmental advocates who said clean, renewable wind power was the best answer to fighting climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

"The science does not show adverse health impacts," said Dr. Gideon Forman, the executive director of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment.

Executive committee member Glenn De Baeremaeker, an ardent supporter of wind power, dismissed health concerns, saying: "The health fears are just that - fears. They don't exist."

Yeah. Fear of the unknown? By unknown I mean concepts that are not easily visualized using our basic senses. Such as physics, math, etc. You can't "see" the working of atomic particles and black holes. You can't "see" scientific theories or any other scientific phenomenon outside of sight, touch or smell.

322 Feline Emperor of the Conservative Waste  Sun, Feb 5, 2012 6:41:21am

Oh. An interesting (but still edible) failure on the food front.

Went to make black bean sausage soup the other day. Was 50% into the process when I realized I didn't have any potatoes for the necessary starch component. (D'oh!)

So I checked the pantry and opted to use pasta. Whole wheat penne which I cooked and rinsed before adding it in.

Which promptly proceeded to suck up all the broth anyways and leave with a dish of soggy pasta mixed with black beans, sausage, and various vegetable bits. Tasty enough, but nothing I'd serve to company.

Lesson learned. Pasta in soup is something added just before serving unless I'm using one of the little pastas that is specifically designed for soup.

Now we are back to people who have never read science-fiction.

Was reading some Jung a while back. He explained that there are 3 levels of understanding. To paraphrase: 1) There are people who understand what they can perceive thru their senses. 2) There are people who can infer from what they perceive thru their senses. 3) There are people who know things that fall within the realm of theology and philosophy that Jung said he couldn't verbalize.

It seemed to ring true and I've always remembered that explanation.

With black bean soup I used to blitz a small portion of beans with a blender as a thickener. A few table spoons of flour or even stale bread are also traditional thickeners.
Over the past year I've been experimenting with quinoa and it's become my first choice as a soup/stew thickener. works great and adds an earthy nutty flavor unlike flour which often tastes like flour and becomes gloopy.

I've been usually using a few potatoes (Russet) diced and boiled in the broth a bit as a thickener. My brother favors using pearl barley, which also works. I've also used cracked buckwheat which has already been cooked - and that adds a nice nutty flavor as well.

Blending some of the legumes as a thickener is quite common. Lentil soup recipes for instance.

My main issue with this recipe now is the sausage. The butcher I used to get fine grind garlic kielbassi from has closed - and my remaining supply is pretty old and probably has to be tossed. So I'm experimenting with other sausage types and haven't found a good substitute yet. (Latest batch used andouille, which was passable but not quite what I wanted.)

I love quinoa. I like making pasta with it. It's kinda gritty, so I still have to mix it with semolina or regular flour. Gives a nice flavor.

It might be worth the effort and expense to install some sort of automatic vent. Sounds like a lot of hassle trying to manage the heat manually.
I was originally a bit disappointed with the heat retention in my greenhouse, at first it would lose all the accumulated heat as soon as the sun went down. I've been monitoring soil temp and figured out that the beds are still in the process of heating up after three week. There's 200 sq feet of soil and concrete and it's going to take a month or two to heat all that up. All that mass acts like a temperature ballast. I knew it would radiate accumulated heat but I didn't figure it would also radiate cold as well.

Some hippie pukes include black 55 gal drums of captured water in their designs--the nightime heat transfer is faster. I can watch the hoophouse/exterior temps with a wireless thermometer. The house falls rapidly after winter sunset, but stabilizes for the night just above our ground temp--which is enough here. A neighbor has just curb-cycled a substantial 4x4x10 metal kids' climbing tower. It will become a rigid-walled annex to the flexible hoophouse, allowing much easier ventilation control.

That might be a route to take. But given where I live I expect it's just finding the right place. Should try the Italian Market or Reading Terminal Market a few times before giving up. And since I only use a 1/4-1/2 lb per pot a soup a few pounds of smoked sausage stretches quite well.

Basically adding mass to the design to slow the heat transfer process and keep equilibrium close to the current soil temperatures. Roughly the same concept as installing a heat-pump based system for a house.

Since the home cooks are here this morning I'll recommend a UK cooking show called Cooking Like Heston. I originally ignored it because he's one of those fancy chefs making elaborate stuff with dry ice etc. But after watching a few episodes it's actually very cool. A little bit like Good Eats. He shows the traditional methods then shows you why his techniques work better. The episode on cheese is actually very good and very informative. Most of the recipes are surprisingly simple and the techniques and tips are definite keepers.

It's actually very easy. Bake or nuke a sweet potato until done. Must be soft all the way trough. Allow to cool, you can put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes. take off the peel and put the pulp in a mixer. Add salt and a bit of butter. Then add the flour of your choice (semolina, white flour, quinoa or amaranth flour). You can add eggs if you like, I don't because I store the flour in the fridge for up to a week for fresh pasta all week.
Just roll it out like normal pasta and use fresh or dry it for later use.
The fresh noodles are bright orange and the dried are a deep red. Exceptionally delicious and beautiful with fresh bright green pesto!

Upon arrival, the crates would be disassembled and used as floorboards for the car.

That's a Freeper link. In case you don't want to get your boots dirty here it is in wingnut font:

FYI: Here's something VERY IMPORTANT if you have children and plan to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday.

NFL & Goodell to violate Children AGAIN on Super Bowl Sunday

In hiring Madonna, the NFL knows what they are getting: The women famous for being arrested for masturbating on a bed in front of all her once teenaged fans, desecrating and using the crucifix as a sexual prop and of course the lesbian kiss seen around the world on national television with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

My "exposé" is meant to bring the rightful shame to the NFL & Goodell as they TARGET children.

The only sure way to protect them is not to watch but if you're a fan and "must"...

That's not the meme anymore, you know. The new meme for Somalia is:

Somalia is an EEVVIILL country full of pirates and Radical Moooslums!1 AND THEY'RE ALL BLACK!!1 We should clean Somalia up by nuking it from orbit!!11 It's the only way to be sure we got all of the MuslimS!!1 And we first need to deport all Somalis living in the US, because they torment Real Americans with CREEPING SHARIA!!!111

Exactly which demographic were Goodell and the NFL trying to reach with this selection of "entertainer" anyway? Pit Bull and Enrique Iglesias did a great show at half time of the Cowboys game on some holiday this year. It was entertaining and certainly no more than a mild PG rating, and would keep viewers around to watch the half-time commercials. ? Madonna?

Until I read that wiki, I wondered why briquette ash was contaminated with too many toxins for garden composting. The article talks of a coal component. That makes it a bit like Pittsburgh coke, or the yonton 'charcoal' used in Korea.

I've attended the Indy 500, and was impressed how traffic from airport to racetrack was handled. It's as if *all* roads including expressways are one-way to the racetrack.
But in terms of the Super Bowl, it takes the destination hotels & motels of Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach counties to handle the week long crowds, imported support staff & events.
When Tampa hosts the Super Bowl, NFL Merchandising spins it's crowds, support staff & events off to Orlando & Disney World, which makes for interesting logistics on Game Day.
Until now, New Orleans has been the city best liked by Super Bowl planners[1].
Maybe Indy will become another one.
