For Romney: Some Good News, Some Bad News

The more Americans learn about Romney, the less they like him
Politics • Views: 19,551

Mitt Romney may have won the Nevada caucuses with over 50% of the vote, but the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that President Obama is pulling ahead of Romney for the general election.

Overall, 55 percent of those who are closely following the campaign say they disapprove of what the GOP candidates have been saying. By better than 2 to 1, Americans say the more they learn about Romney, the less they like him. Even among Republicans, as many offer negative as positive assessments of him on this question. Judgments about former House speaker Newt Gingrich, who denounced Romney on Saturday night in Nevada, are about 3 to 1 negative.

Meanwhile, the president’s recent remarks are better reviewed. Among the roughly 6 in 10 Americans who heard or read about the president’s State of the Union address, 57percent say they approve of most of what he laid out.

so the good news is he saved money on his car insurance by switching to GEICO, correct?

Sure he won the caucuses in Nevada but they’re saying turnout was really down there compared to what they expected. To hear John Sununu spin it people stayed home because they don’t feel the need to come vote as they are comfortable with Romney.

Romney can’t yet focus on the general. It still hangs on the economy in important ways.

‘Generic $PARTY’ candidates are regularly seen to perform better than candidates who are less than extremely charismatic. Is anyone aware of to what degree Romney’s problem is common or predicted, and how much seems particular to the profoundly flawed candidate that is Mitt Romney?

Politico has a similar story today as well. Obama beats Romney in almost every category, including national defense

That’s true for me of every living Republican politician I can think of.

So far, the only thing Romney has said is Obama is bad. I haven’t heard one concrete plan on how he would do better.

Romney has zero international experience (not counting off-shoring US jobs). Why he’s even considered in this category is beyond me.

I’d say it breaks down as follows: the “money” photo, “375K isn’t a lot of money”, “I like to fire people”, flip-flopping on every vaguely centrist position he’s ever taken and being a dick to that gay guy in the diner accounts for 99% of the dislike.

The remaining 1% is just the simple fact that he’s transparently a colossal dickhead.

I thought about making my post more complete and accurate but to be honest it was a grind just to type even a few of his hateful positions.

By the time the election rolls around, Romney the candidate is going to look like the guy in Robocop who falls in the toxic sludge, right before he gets splattered over the windshield.

Donald Trump Takes Credit For Mitt Romney Romp In Nevada.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump called into Fox News on Monday morning and matter-of-factly took credit for propelling Romney to a nearly 30-point victory in the Nevada caucuses over the weekend.

Did Trump also take credit for Republican voters staying home by the thousands?

Mitt, ya might wanna rethink that endorsement, hokay?

In his stumping, yeah, mostly because talking about himself wasn’t working, and engaging the other republicans wasn’t great either. He is still spending vs. them, I think- I expect that to even dial down somewhat.

34 ProBosniaLiberal  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 11:02:49am

I should also mention that the Russian/Chinese Vetoes have already begun to backfire.

The embassies of both were attacked this morning in Libya, and are now covered in graffiti.

There is a good chance the US will be in a better position in the Middle East soon, which means being having a new way of end the I-P Conflict.

i’ve also noticed that he’s been programmed to deliver the same “victory” speech he gave in New Hampshire. Don’t know why they even bother showing it on TV, they should just say “If you want to know what he said you can go to his New Hampshire speech”

Obama remains a polarizing figure, with Americans closely divided on whether he deserves reelection as well as on many aspects of his performance in office.

I’d argue that America was already polarized. Obama getting into office simply made that polarization apparent.

Right. Polarizing. Must have something to do with all of the birth certificate stuff, Kenya, the endless racism (yep he’s black) and the never ending derangement of every little thing he does. Apparently it’s his fault though. He’s the one with the “hubris” and the only reason people are deranged about Obama is his own doing.
