Video: Santorum Pines for the Days of ‘Shadow Abortions’ and Back-Alley Procedures

Sick bastard wishes for dead women
Wingnuts • Views: 27,269

Rick Santorum misses the days when women would die in horrible agony from having back-alley abortions. Ah, good times.

Youtube Video

Look at what’s happened just in our tolerance for abortion. Fifty years ago…60 years ago, people who did abortions were in the shadows, people who were considered really bad doctors. Now, abortion is something to that is just accepted. […] This is the erosion. And it happens in the medical profession. It happened very fast. And I think Obamacare will lead us down that road.

He lies about the Netherlands, and probably doesn't know he is lying since his ignorance is so deep.

Rick Santorum: Bring back leeches, fight the erosion of the medical profession!

What is most disgusting to me is how religious rigidity has completely replaced basic human compassion. Completely. He doesn't even realize it.

4 Obdicut  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 5:14:07pm

And no, Rick, you're wrong. Many of the people who provided abortions in that past were heroic doctors, doing what they knew to be right even in the face of prison time and ostracism. And doctors still provide that to their patients, even under threat of death from radical anti-abortion activists.

5 wrenchwench  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 5:14:54pm

I'll just repeat the second comment I made on this from the last thread.

Santorum should have it explained to him that roughly 50 percent of all maternal deaths in the first half of the 20th century were from illegal abortions, and an estimated 160 to 260 women died each year in the 1950s and 1960s from illegal abortions. (From same link Lidane gave, which links to this.)

6 b_snark  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 5:15:17pm

Santorum probably finds all sorts of dark alley shenanigans interesting. I can guarantee it makes him feel all blessedly superior. At the bare minimum it makes him feel all warm and gooey inside.

7 Iwouldprefernotto  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 5:15:26pm

If people like these were honest, they would support PP and try to reduce abortions. But they're not and they won't.

F' em.

8 Achilles Tang  Mon, Feb 6, 2012 5:15:32pm

The ability to lie with the greatest of ease is becoming what I see as the defining characteristic of the GOP, and in particular the "religious" GOP.

He would see that as a feature, not a bug. Hundreds of women dying from illegal abortions would, in his view, discourage women from getting abortions.

Following the fall out over the controversial Chrysler Super Bowl halftime ad, Clint Eastwood spoke exclusively with O’Reilly Factor producer Ron Mitchell…

"I just want to say that the spin stops with you guys, and there is no spin in that ad. On this I am certain.

l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK.
(me: uh no, Clint. Sorry)

I am not supporting any politician at this time.

Chrysler to their credit didn’t even have cars in the ad.

Anything they gave me for it went for charity.

If any Obama or any other politician wants to run with the spirit of that ad, go for it."

Rick Santorum is bordering on what I might call 'evil', but it's not his own thinking that led him there. It's his own unthinking.

The Tea Party may be dead but the Sovereign citizens still pose a threat.

FBI warns of threat from anti-government extremists

Anti-government extremists opposed to taxes and regulations pose a growing threat to local law enforcement officers in the United States, the FBI warned on Monday.

These extremists, sometimes known as "sovereign citizens," believe they can live outside any type of government authority, FBI agents said at a news conference.

The extremists may refuse to pay taxes, defy government environmental regulations and believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard.

Donald "American Powerman" Douglas comes to Pamela Geller's defense: American Power: Charles Johnson's Servitude to Savages

It is evil. It's not simply disagreement. It's a demonically obsessed campaign to destroy her.

Pamela also a posts a screencap from Little Green Footballs, where the Little Green Gargoyles in the comments compare honor killings to circumcision and warn that Pamela and the AFDI/SIOA organizers are "looking for trouble." And on cue, Charles Johnson's posts another attack on Pamela, at the Twitter link here: "Pamela Geller Spews Hatred at LGF Again."

The hatred in the comments is heating up right on schedule.

This is what you deal with when you stand up for right. I'm engaged in this kind of thing at American Power. It's f-king unbelievable the depths of genuine evil I deal with, but as you can see with Pamela, there's black contagion spreading and people of good faith can't stand aside.

Three guesses who the wingnuts will defend:

Asian-American Elected GOPer Turns On Hoekstra After Ad

Washtenaw County, Michigan Commissioner Alicia Ping (R) says she was leaning toward endorsing former Rep. Pete Hoekstra in the Republican primary for Senate. But that’s all over now. On Monday, Ping donated money to Clark Durant, Hoekstra’s longshot rival in the primary. She told me she’d publicly endorse him if Durant asks her to.

Why the change of heart? Hoekstra’s controversial Super Bowl ad, which the Chinese-American Ping called “demeaning”, is a part of it. But it was more Hokestra’s refusal to acknowledge that he’d made a mistake running the ad that really lost him Ping’s support.

“If he didn’t know it was racist on some level, then shame on him,” Ping told me in a phone interview Monday night. “He didn’t apologize or say ‘maybe it was over the top’ or anything. He said, ‘I stand by what I believe in’ and, ‘the liberals are just making a bigger thing out of it.’ Well that’s not the case at all. It’s offensive and it’s racist. It’s demeaning to the Asian-American population.”

Influential conservative blogger Erick Erickson said he would endorse the “sweet meteor of death” over any of the current GOP candidates, but would back the party’s eventual nominee in the general election against President Obama.

In the run-up to his endorsement, Erickson, who writes for the political website Red State, said he wouldn’t follow former GOP candidate Herman Cain with a non-endorsement.

Earlier this month, Cain endorsed “the people.” But speaking Monday on his WSB radio show, Erickson did something similar, endorsing “a great fireball from the sky annihilating us all.”

Still, Erickson said he hoped Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich stayed in the race because they had the best chances of rallying the conservative base against Romney.

As does anyone who disagrees with Pam Geller about anything political. For her, there are only three categories:

1. The Virtuous Defends of the West with her as one of its heads, composed of those who support her and her anti-Islam crusade.

2. The Mass of Sheeple, those who do not take a strong position on Islam and have not yet faced a Geller demand for fealty. Once Geller demands fealty to her of a person, they either join her (if they do as she demands) or join the supporters of Islam (if they refuse her).

3. The Barbarian Hoard of Islam, which comprises all Muslims and all whom Geller believes support Islam (which can mean some one who simply disagrees with her, as noted above).

re: #84 Stanley Sea

Here's a good list of his purchasers:

Toomey and Brint Ryan, a Dallas tax consultant who helped form Make Us Great Again, were among its big donors, giving $100,000 and $250,000, respectively. Robert McNair, owner of the Houston Texans, and the homebuilder Bob Perry, a longtime supporter of the governor (they are not related), are on the list. The grocery wholesaler and former Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane Jr. is there, too. Tony Buzbee, a Houston trial lawyer, gave $250,000. Harold Simmons’s Contran Corporation donated $1 million. Chesapeake Energy was in for $125,000, and the company’s federal political action committee matched that. Paul Foster, chairman of El Paso’s Western Refining and a regular backer of the governor, gave as well.
........
Perry’s lists have a lot of Texans. Those are the people who know him best, the ones most likely to be asked for support by a Texas candidate. They were also making safer bets, in a way, than their counterparts in other states. If he wins, he’s the president. If he loses, he’s the governor of Texas.

Heads, you win. Tails, you win.

I had to watch the video to get the context... and that the TPM script of Santorum's words has a wrong tense btw ("it will happen" versus the scribed "happened")...

Anyway, the context is euthanasia. Santorum claims half of all the older people euthanized in the Netherlands didn't really consent. So Santorum's thrust here isn't about abortion - he's using abortion as an example to scare his audience about, in essence, Obamacare killing grandma.

That's quite a claim and I wonder from where Santorum gets this. Given the nature of previous claims creationists along this line (who are notorious for twisting actual evidence) I look upon this claim by Santorum with great suspicion. I know there are "Pro-life" organizations out there that get into the euthanasia debate, e.g the website [Link: www.euthanasia.com...] (which gets some of it's info/disinformation from the IDiots).

Anyone know if Santorum said from where he gets his info?

Occupy protesters living up to expectations today....
Occupy Pittsburgh Protestor Arrested For Megan’s Law Violation

The KD Investigators have learned that one of the so-called leaders of the Occupy Pittsburgh movement is a registered sex offender.

Hoff called himself “Blue Thunder” claiming to be a Native American on Thanksgiving Day, giving his blessing to the Occupy Pittsburgh movement.

He also labeled himself as group spokesman.
...
According to records, Hoff was convicted in 1999 for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Accused in stabbing waives bail hearing

Harrington — a "quiet, shy guy" — spent a couple of weeks at the Occupy site a few months back, Canning says, and wasn't spotted again until Friday. He left Saturday morning and was picked up by the police.

Police say Harrington stabbed the woman in her chest, just below the heart.

Occupy DC Demonstrator Threw Bottle, Not Brick

Court documents available Monday say the demonstrator, Jeremiah Desausa, threw the Coke bottle Saturday. Authorities said he resisted arrest and was subdued with a Taser.

Given Erik's racism and other bits of bigotry, Romney might benefit by refusing Erik's support. That would cost him some wingnuts. but it might gain him support in key states like Michigan or Ohio.

Why would Romney suddenly want to refuse endorsements from extremist clowns in his own party? He just accepted Trump's nod, with plenty of fanfare. Chances are he'll want the support of one of the most influential bloggers--Erik McErick--on the right.

Trump is more visible, and would be a more dangerous enemy. Erik couldn't do that much damage. The key to a "I'm Not With Stupid" moment is to pick a target to push off from who has some visibility but isn't relatively powerful enough to really hurt you.

Yet, I doubt Santorum himself has researched this from that far back. The link you gave references a 1995 paper that became the source of the statistics... that would mean it is now at least 16 years old.

You are, and will always be an outsider in this group, and I assure you that nobody is looking for or wants you to rescue it from his clutches. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's all true and the sooner you accept it the sooner you'll stop alienating people in the group by trying to arrogate yourself into a position you will never successfully attain.

I'm not a muslim so submission isn't my thing, but I suggest that accepting reality is similar enough in this instance, and accepting reality is my thing. That was the advice given by multiple people when you solicited help earlier on how to handle this conflict and now you're, again, on the verge of chucking it all away on what appears to clearly be a counter productive course of action.

Big Badaboom:

We propose that the two newly detected Earth-size planets around the hot B subdwarf star KIC 05807616 are remnant of the tidally destructed metallic core of a massive planet. A single massive gas-giant planet was spiralling-in inside the envelope of the red giant branch star progenitor of the extreme horizontal branch (EHB) star KIC 05807616. The released gravitational energy unbound most of the stellar envelope, turning it into an EHB star. The massive planet reached the tidal destruction radius of ~Ro from the core, where the planet's gaseous envelope was tidally removed. In our scenario the metallic core of the massive planet was tidally destructed into several Earth-like bodies immediately after the gaseous envelope of the planet was removed. Two, and possibly more, Earth-size fragments survived at orbital separations of >Ro within the gaseous disk.[Link: arxiv.org...]

How far are you from graduation? That should be your focus. Get it done, figure out what you want to do after and get on with attaining that. Your preoccupation with the MSA seems like it's become a distraction. There are worse distractions for sure, and I know it was a great place for you last year, but college is supposed to be a transitional experience. The point isn't to cling to any one facet of it, eventually you're got to leave it all behind.

DailyKOS is not on my normal reading list... but this article came up on a creationism search... about a very not-bright Florida state senator and his creationism, and his increasing success in deconstructing/destroying Florida public education:

New bill would take millions from Central Florida schools to give to privately run charters.

Trump is more visible, and would be a more dangerous enemy. Erik couldn't do that much damage. The key to a "I'm Not With Stupid" moment is to pick a target to push off from who has some visibility but isn't relatively powerful enough to really hurt you.

But in the same way Romney wouldn't want to pick a fight with Limbaugh or Coulter, why pick one with Erickson? Not only is he a commentator on CNN, but RedState is, sadly, quite popular and especially influential with the far right Obama-hating crowd. And those are the very people with whom Romney has the least credibility.

Trump may be more visible, but he's also far more disliked by the overall general public. If you're gonna take his support, it makes no sense strategically (especially while primaries are still going on) to diss Erik.

But even then, how does that help Romney? Erickson is very popular on the right, but relatively unknown to the rest of the country. So picking a fight with a guy whose followers are already unenthused about a Romney candidacy hurts him with the base...and Romney will need the base to show up in full force.

Intelligent, Condescending Life Discovered In Distant Galaxy

"We were extremely excited to have made contact with this highly advanced form of life, but it quickly became clear they're pretty big jerks," said NASA scientist Raymond Morrison, referring frequently to a 24-page transcript of the interstellar transmission filled with patronizing language and backhanded compliments. "After telling us they hadn't exactly been holding their breath waiting for us to figure out how to make contact with our 'charmingly simplistic devices,' they informed us they had studied our planet millennia ago but decided it was 'too hopelessly primitive to be worthwhile.'"

I think that, in a large way, it's Romney getting frustrated with what he sees as uncooperative base. The party's all but crowned him as the nominee, but the base keeps shitting on him openly and publicly. It's a hate-hate relationship here: Romney hates the base, and they hate him in return.

True, but at the same time Romney knows he can't win without some level of enthusiasm from the base, so going out of his way to piss them off makes no sense. Particularly after he's spent so much time pandering to the TP base with his cultural attacks on Obama as someone who "doesn't understand America" and wants to make us Europe.

Ayep. The GOP's pretty much given up on selling their candidate as anything other than "Not Obama," which wasn't exactly a winning strategy in any of the above examples. When a majority of Americans look at the incumbent you're running against as the kinda guy they'd like to have a beer with, and your entire strategy is summed up in "He's bad, very bad!," you're SOL.

What's worse is that none of the current GOP candidates are people you'd want to have a beer with. None of them are charming or personable. I never voted for Dubya, but he damn sure had the folksy charm down cold.

Despite some of Barack Obama's recent political decisions, both he and Michelle come across as a normal, stable couple who enjoy each other and who are gregarious. I can't imagine any of the GOP wives going on Ellen and doing push-ups like Michelle Obama did, or any of the GOP candidates making fun of themselves the way Obama has in the past. Some comedian, probably Jon Stewart, recently said Romney "looks like the guy who just fired your Dad." And he talks like that guy too. No wonder his favorables are so low.
