Fox News Commenters Respond to Whitney Houston’s Death With Deluge of Hatred and Racism

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 247,603

I don’t even know what to say about this any more. There’s a real sickness running rampant in the right wing; the Fox News comment thread on Whitney Houston’s death is yet another disgusting deluge of outright racism: Singer Whitney Houston Dies at 48 | Fox News.

There are almost 5000 comments posted in the thread — these are from the first few pages. Notice that the racist bastards deliberately misspell their slurs or insert random spaces, so they aren’t caught by word filters. And many of the worst comments have numerous “likes” from other commenters.

A tragedy is when someones passes away from a terminal disease or something else that no one saw coming.Whitney is just an inferior lo w life ni gg er that needed to go,no tragedy,no loss.

[…]

Any death is a tragedy you heartless bástard.

[…]

not nignogs their death is a plus

[…]

SHe couldn’t even sell issues of “the national enquirer” anymore. Everyone was tired of the TNB. Niqqer flaps her lips and screeches, niqqer becomes rich. Niqqer ends up nearly broke after spending all of her money. Niqqer in constant fights and drug binges. Niqqer ODs when she learns she’s nearly broke and she is so wasted physically she can’t make another album. Niqqer hit the end of the road, niqqer thinking and niqqer behavior led her to where she had nothing. She couldn’t face life without the “bling bling”, she knew she would never have any more “kaching kaching”

[…]

I am now patiently waiting for the grand messiah Obama to have a blk fundraiser in honor of Whitley with Kevin Costner as guest of honor with all the Hollywood elites invited along with Alan Colmes, Al Sharpton, Jeremia Wright, Charles Rangel, etc. with a menu featuring blk eyed peas, grits, Imported Kobe steak, Dom Perignon, sweet potato pie and a mus lll im scarf as a momento of this great occasion.

Of course the door prize will be an all expense paid trip to Kenya to visit the Obama tribe and birthplace of his ancestors while the American people still look for this imposter’s birth certificate in Hawaii !!!

[…]

This is typical of the blk gene pool; it happens all the time. They cannot handle fame and fortune whether it’s derived from music, acting, sports or just plain entertainment. Too much fame and too much money at one time will ki ll ll you.

How many blk people have died from drugs including alcohol that have been in the sports and the entertainment industry or screwed up their married lives like Tiger Woods or worse, OJ Simpson !!!

This is the same disease that got Obama voted into the White House.

[…]

i don’t even consider them to be included in the human race let alone on a pedistal. the people that do are a bunch of loosers.

I've been thinking the same thing. A news site needn't be a community site.

Words to the effect of: 'The opinions in the comments to not necessarily reflect those of Fox news.'

Key word: "necessarily"

I think it's pretty clear that they simply don't have a problem with this kind of stuff. Their whole brand is about inciting hatred. This is a natural result.

Geez. I will admit I am not a huge fan of the late Whitney Houston. She did have a wonderful voice. My ideal singer is Renee Fleming. These comments are coming from a bunch of hate mongers who do not care about anything.

Stupak, always the back-stabber:

BART STUPAK, D-MICH., FORMER CONGRESSMAN (Via Telephone): Good evening.

VAN SUSTEREN: You don't get to vote on this one because you have retired, but I'm curious, what do you think about this latest dispute?

STUPAK: Oh, I'm disappointed that the administration would put forth such a rule, but as you're putting together and implementing major legislation, there's going to be stumbles and fumbles along the way, and this is one. And I think it can be corrected, and I hope we can get the matter resolved short of further action by Congress or -- the president should just sit down, let's work this thing out. We can do it. We've done it before, we can do it again.

I'm hoping that Fox News gives these nuts a safe venue to indulge their sickness. I worry about what might happen if they lost this outlet. I fear they might go the Timothy McVeigh route.

They may yet.

18 _RememberTonyC  Sun, Feb 12, 2012 10:59:40am

Whitney Houston was talented but tragic. Just like some famous white artists I can name such as Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, and Amy Winehouse. My point is that demons can potentially claim any of us, regardless of our skin color or beliefs. To believe otherwise is not only "Un-American," it's uncivilized.

I'd like to think so, but I doubt it. I don't remember the last time racism on Fox News was reported as any kind of major story.

On a related note, it seems the "black person died with drugs as speculated cause" has REALLY set them off.

I wonder if the reaction would be different if it had been say Denzel Washington dying of a heart attack.

Anyone looked at the comments from when Amy Winehouse died? I'm sure they were horrible about that as well. This just gives them a chance to come up with more creative spellings for racial slurs.

And I'm sure they would be horrible about Denzel Washington's heart attack, if, God forbid, (ptui, ptui, ptui) it came to pass.

I don't think Rupert Murdoch has criminal liability in these scandals, but if evidence keeps coming out about his son, the question won't be "Who will roll over on News Corp?". The question will be "Does James Murdoch do his time in the US or UK?"

The answer is probably the UK. DoJ here in the US probably would not move against James Murdoch till after the presidential elections. Doing so beforehand would fire up the wingnuts with claims of "Obamunist Pursecution!!1".

CNN sometimes has some seriously ugly comments, but CNN is good at keeping racism off its site. They simply draw a line between race and politics, so you can call Barack Obama "Obozo" on CNN's comment threads and the comment will remain, but call him "Kenyan" and they'll pull the comment.

Before 2008, they sometimes were. Then it was decided to focus more heavily on spewing Bad Craziness. So most Fox 'commentary' programming does this, the exceptions being those shows hosted by Chris Wallace, Brit Hume (on occasion), and (for the most part) Bill O'Reilly; And those shows only because O'Reilly and Wallace's shows are intended as 'flagship shows' on which important Democrats and Republicans tend to appear, and the need to preserve their prestige requires dialing down the crazy on those shows.

And, IMO, the pathology that drives the ongoing need for it derived from a feeling of inferiority. "The Personhood bill would potentially allow governmental intrusion into families’ personal lives by policing what happens to a woman’s eggs without any similar thought to what happens to a man’s sperm. As I sprinted down the stairs, I ran through the possible scenarios. I wasn’t on call, so the day to day gynecologic emergencies weren’t my purview. I hadn’t operated on anyone in the past few weeks, so unlikely to be one of my own patients with a complication.

Logically there was only one conclusion.

A nurse was holding the staff entrance to the ER open. From the look on her face I surmised this was to save the minute or two it would take to punch in the numbers on the lock and inquire at the desk for patient’s whereabouts.

“Down there,” she pointed.

On the gurney lay a young woman the color of white marble. The red pool between her legs, ominously free of clots, offered a silent explanation.

I always wondered about that 'everything happens according to god's plan" bullshit. In cases of rape, for the most relevant example here, it fundamentally denies free will. The rapist has a choice to make. Are they saying god interferes with a rapist's free will to compel them to their actions?

I know there are people out there who agree with that, and it infuriates me.

By definition, rape involves robbing the victim of their autonomy and free will, and forcing yourself on them. That means that all rape is a forcible act, not just the popular image of rape, where a woman is attacked in a dark alley and beaten half to death.

Not disputing that. I meant that Sen. Santorum's policy preferences would seem to reserve capital punishment for a non-fatal crime to rape of a child under 12 and rapes where physical force was actually used. Neither he nor I would dispute that all rapes involve someone forcing themselves on another person.

Why is this hard to understand? Rape does not have "flavors" or "degrees".

Rape certainly does have a lot of different varieties. And of course coercion is not consent, but someone can consent and say "But my consent was coerced, so it's invalid". And impaired people can consent, but their consent doesn't matter, because they're impaired. We consider children, for example, impaired in this matter to begin with when they're dealing with an adult, so any consent a child gives is meaningless. Likewise, someone who consents to sex with a powerful superior can rightly claim that the power dynamic between them created an implicit coercion, so that the consent is immaterial.

Well here's one I've not heard before...

Fox is a propaganda outlet for the Saudi Royal Family and their expressed purpose to destroy all western cultures and replace them with Islamic religious law and rules. There's is a purpose to stimulate any and every possible conflict and division within the population of all western countries, the U.S. being the most obvious target. The racial divisions in the U.S. is the "soft underbelly" of our Republic and they know well that any stimulation of racial divisions is a step in the direction of their ultimate goal. Every day, every broadcast, is some step in expanding or hardening this racial division.

Still reading through this account, but this popped out at me...

Santorum stepped onto the court with his two oldest children and was met with a standing ovation. He assured everyone that he had participated in the “very appropriate” prayer and expressed his best wishes.

He joked about his seven children and how he was doing his part to fix the “demographic problem” associated with social security and medical care

I've seen this pimped for years on televangelist programs, usually as an argument for banning abortion, which I have always suspected to be just a cover for the kind of “demographic problem” that they are truly concerned with, that being white people being outnumbered by non-white people.

That wasn't a Palinism. He actually has a point he's trying to make, that point being the idea that Obama is not moving on advancing freedom internationally as quickly as Rick Santorum thinks is possible. Ladies and gentlemen we have a president of the United States who on every single count, and I haven’t mentioned the one, his slow dissemination of the freedom of religion [applause], freedom of conscience [louder applause].

Standing up and talking about abortion as if having life and being pregnant was something that would deny people their dreams. This callousness toward life, and family, and faith — and even open hostility. This is the president of the United States today. This is a president who has a fundamentally different view of America than what made America the greatest country in the history of the world.

It’s interesting. When it come to the issue of equality, they’re all for it. They use that term all the time. “Equality! Equality!” Where does equality come from? Do you find equality between men and women, in society, in other cultures in the world? No you do not. No you do not. You find it in Western civilization. You find it because we are a Judeo-Christian country.

Yes, Santorum argued with a straight face that Christianity was responsible for women’s rights.

Roger Ebert has a good post up for Darwin Day:

"...a grand celebration for a man whose Theory of Evolution promoted atheism, inspired Hitler's genocides, and thinks your grandfather was a monkey.

None of those things are true, but such claims are what I've been dealing with since Dec. 3, 2008, when I published a blog entry praising Darwin's Theory and castigating Ben Stein's documentary "Expelled," which claimed the opposing theory of Intelligent Design was being silenced in a crime against freedom of speech. That entry has so far drawn some 280,000 visits and inspired nearly 1,300 comments comprising some 145,000 words, every one of which I have read. The thread is still active and growing every day.
...
..the debate, which is not taken seriously in any other nation on earth, may never be over; my thread alone still draws new comments. Some of the supporters of ID are civil and sincere; others inform me I am going to Hell or simply quote scripture at me. A lot of ID advocates repeat the same arguments over and over, apparently lifting them from ID websites, as if they had not been pretty well exhausted in the preceding comments, which total more words than A Tale of Two Cities, a reading experience you will find much more enjoyable.

As the self-appointed referee in this particular match, I declare Darwin the winner.

This has nothing to do with religious liberty, and this is just a war on women. They are just done pretending they are anything but religious zealots and fanatics. I wonder if the press will figure that out.

I simply do not understand how they could be this stupid. I also don’t understand how there is anyone out there left who is a moderate Republican who will still vote with these lunatics.

ATTN: Moderate Republicans- at this point, you are out of excuses. No more BS about trying to take the party back. Anatomy of an unsafe abortion

“She arrived a few minutes ago. Not even a note.” My resident was breathless with anger, adrenaline, and panic.

Yep. There's hardly an atheist orthodoxy. There shouldn't be either. I frequently snipe at Think Atheist on Twitter. OK, slowed down recently. But when they start pulling that "you Atheist!, thou shall lick Bradley Manning's boots and love anonymous" crap I feel like punching someone in the nose. ;)

We must build temples!! And incorporate "religious forms and traditions" in order to prove that we're.. um.. not religious???

Wait, what???

Wait, what???

You can't count to 100 without reading of the other number in between. You can't get to mile marker 400 without first getting to mile marker 1. But yes. It's also this constant obsession with all things atheist. I mean what's next? Atheist cooking classes? "How to cook like an atheist." I like to mix it up. Yes, I have some pretty strong misgivings about religion and being an atheist. But there are other issues in life. It's too focused of a movement at times.

I've got a lot of grievances! ;)

{Alouette} I'm sorry to hear that. My grandmother had many before she was finally able to carry one child to term.

Well, it was 30 years ago and I'm still alive.

Not crickets for that sort of thing. The wingnuts still spill the same hateful bile for white artists who die the same way, but without the layer of racism seen in this instance.

Usually, the comments for something like this are as bad on Yahoo or AOL as they are at Fox. Not today, for some reason. Yahoo was pretty much: "Oh, she sang pretty," "Drugs are bad, mmmkay?" and "Bobby Brown is to blame."

Just wait 'til she tells you her cancer story. Now that she has Alzheimer's, she tells me that one at least three times a week. Sometimes even three times in the same day.

"Stop me if I've told you this story before..."

I never do.

452 sproingie  Sun, Feb 12, 2012 8:03:36pm

Maybe it's all trolling ... or was. Whatever the case, the lack of any effective moderation at Fox News's sites has laid out the welcome mat for genuine white supremacists and other assorted bigots of all stripes. It's an object lesson in the online version of Broken Window Syndrome: Fox News' online presence is now Stormfront with more bandwidth.

re: #125 Gus

Some will even attempt to claim free speech:

Right. Free speech.

Yeah, as long as it is their free speech. I had a woman I know (not real close, just know of her and her family in my small town). She stops me on the street to get my opinion of this whole contraception thing (we were both catholic - she still is - in our youth, so she thought she might get a receptive ear I guess). She said this is just more political correct speech that was being pushed, like having to watch what you say because it might offend someone. I asked her what was being repressed by this political correctness. She stated that if she thought someone was a lazy waste (I know which 'people' she was referring to) and you said something you believe in then 'they' would get all upset. I asked her if everyone should be able to just voice their opinions no matter what the other person thought, and of course she said yes (I guess she figuring that everyone other than 'those others' thought like her). So I told her I thought she was a bigoted, religious freak that was destroying the American way of life and her kind should be deported somewhere else for the sake of the United States.

Well the look on her face was priceless. The offense there was glowing. I asked her if she was upset that I voiced my opinion. She said that what I said was very mean. I asked her if the words hurt and if she thought her words might hurt someone else as bad. Her answer was that she would never say anything like that to someone else (and I bet she wouldn't. She wouldn't have the ovaries to say it to anyone's face, she would do it cowardly behind their back.). So I told her maybe she should show more compassion to others rather than worry about not being able to say nasty broad brush things about people. She insisted that she didn't (although I know she has, as has her father that I have heard many times as he and my father were members of some of the same clubs in town).

Their free speech only applies to them. Everyone else should just keep their mouth shut.

I was not sad to hear about the demise of Bin laden or Qaddafi, but I have never really delighted in anyone's death.

And if I did, I would not brag about it, even annonymously...
