Now Fox News Commenters Are Spewing Racist Hatred at Whitney Houston’s Daughter

Yes, they’re at it again. In the Fox News article about Whitney Houston’s daughter, we see the Fox News audience spewing the same kind of nauseating racial hatred they directed at Whitney: Concerns for Whitney Houston’s Daughter Mount After Mom’s Death | Fox News.

Some of these comments were posted by the same people whose comments were deleted in the previous thread. Fox News moderators deleted the blatantly racist comments, but didn’t block the accounts.

Also, I predict Fox will delete the comment section soon, so make some screenshots.

Mean spirited, nasty, and racist is no way to go through life, and yet Fox News' commenters seem to have all three in abundance and the site still chooses not to clean out the fever swamps.

On Facebook today, someone posted a blog entry written by a woman whose daughter had died of SIDS. She had let the child sleep on her stomach because the infant was having trouble sleeping and so she had blamed herself. The blog entry was about forgiving yourself.

The comments were, frankly, beautiful in their compassion and understanding.

16 Tigger2005  Tue, Feb 14, 2012 10:16:54am

I followed a link to a clip of Ellen's response to the "Million Moms" on, I think, YouTube. The video had been taken down for copyright reasons, but the comments were still there, and many were horrific and nauseating. One of the most bizarre--some guy saying the reason he hates gays is because he finds "the act" (you know, that act that homophobes are so obsessed about) disgusting. I couldn't figure out how he went from that to hating a lesbian.

The cause of SIDS is not known. It is not caused by babies sleeping on their stomachs. In fact when my kids were babies the meme was NOT to put them on their backs, in case they spit up and aspirated. Then later on the meme was changed to NOT put them on their stomachs.

Miraculously, all my babies survived sleeping on their stomachs.

There was a study done in England somewhere between the birth of my youngest brother and the birth of my oldest child. It cuts SIDS rates in half if they sleep on their backs.

We all survived as well. I grew up watching my mother put my siblings down on their tummies.

It makes me curious about who at the AP wrote it. It provides a lot of handy excuses.

Nathan Schroeder, national secretary for the Supreme White Alliance — whose website warns visitors of its "racist overtone" — says people who share his views benefit from online anonymity.

He said many white people "aren't to that point yet where they will openly come out and say, 'I stand for this. I am proud of my heritage. I want to preserve my people.' They don't want their close friends, families, what have you, to find out so they are more comfortable speaking about it on the Internet.

. Federal action might finally close down that filthy sewer of hate over at Fox News:

'Last year [British lawyer Mark] Lewis told CNN he was 'looking to pursue legal action on the basis of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the United States, whereby a holding company can be liable for practices outside the jurisdiction where the offence is said to have taken place.'

'Proceedings will be issued in the U.S. where we will seek information from the company's directors about those issues and about corporate governance.'

The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, enacted in 1977, makes it illegal for a U.S. person or company to pay foreign officials to obtain or retain business.

Potential liability flows from journalists at News of the World to its parent, News International, and to that company's parent, News Corp., which is a publicly held company in the United States, and runs Fox News.'

Protesters Shout Down Santorum As He Speaks Against Marriage Equality In Washington State

Speaking from a balcony, Santorum sought to condemn the state’s newly-enacted same-sex marriage law and the Ninth Circuit’s ruling against Proposition 8, but was repeatedly interrupted by protesters yelling, “we are the 99 percent.” Santorum told the protesters to “go out and get a job,” adding:

SANTORUM: I know this is a very important day in Washington. And in many respects a sad day for many people. We saw the law signed into here in Washington sate. But it is very important you understand what just happened in another place….in the Ninth Circuit….The Ninth Circuit decided that anybody that disagrees with any of these folks, anyone who disagrees with these folks when it comes to the issue if what marriage is in this country, well they are irrational. That’s what the Ninth Circuit said. They said anybody who disagrees with their decision to shoot down Prop 8 in California, they do so because they are irrational and the only possible reason they can possibly…

Before he could mischaracterize the court’s decision, however, a scuffle broke out. Police shoved two men to the ground, tased and arrested them. Santorum briefly paused in his remarks and said, “Let’s give a hand to our men and women in uniform. It’s not easy.”

He described the protesters as a “radical element” that represents “true intolerance,” but claimed that he understood “their frustration” at being left behind by “a president that doesn’t care about them.” “We got to provide an opportunity for them,” he insisted. “Instead of standing here unemployed, yelling at somebody, to go out out there and try to work for a living.”

Right, because everyone who would protest Santorum would have to be a jobless hippy. Very clever.

Nothing is ever "raise all the taxes" or "cut all the taxes". The payroll tax has a much higher direct effect on lower and middle class homes. Keep those taxes low and actually raise taxes on corporations and higher income earners and you'll make up the difference.

Comment spambots are getting very sophisticated. There are bots that can find links to registration pages, fill out the form, and verify the account.

I had to implement some interesting countermeasures to stop them from getting into LGF, which I won't go into detail about.

I can attest to that as well. A site that I am very involved with had similar issues. I was amazed at the sophistication of the spambots...and the speed at which they operate. We had to make it quite a bit more involved for an actual person to sign up, but its worth the extra measures.

Maybe make the spambot read a EULA that no standard person would consider, so if you get the correct response you know it's a bot.

Warren Haynes, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks Confirm White House Performance

On February 27, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will host a slew of extraordinary musicians, including jam-favorites Warren Haynes, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

The musicians will celebrate blues music as a part of the “In Performance at the White House” series. The "In Performance" series dates back to 1978 and has been a part of every presidential administration since Jimmy Carter. The lineup of artists also includes perennial stars like B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Mick Jagger.

The performance will be broadcast on your local PBS station on February 27 at 9:00 p.m.

I'm going to miss that. PBS will not allow DirecTV to turn it on at my house.

Dems To GOP: Keep Birth Control Out Of Highway Bill

Sensing a political upper-hand in the brewing culture war, Senate Democrats had their guns blazing against the GOP’s birth control amendment Tuesday, vowing to fight Republicans’ best efforts to tack it on to the bipartisan highway bill and warning that the measure would take women’s health in America back to the “dark ages.”

“In 2012, I stand here in complete amazement,” said Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), “that in a country known for its medical breakthroughs and advancements, Republicans would have us go back to the medical dark ages.” She said the energy and transportation bill otherwise has strong bipartisan support.

I'd agree - seems that he's sympathetic to the cause, but thinks that it would get off message from his own agenda. It's similar to the way that Ron Paul has danced around being a troofer (sorry, but while it's intriguing, I have to go End the Fed).

"Somebody who wouldn't be good enough, who wouldn't be certified to pick tomatoes or clean bathrooms is sitting in the White House," Taitz told Gingrich, reportedly to a mixed reception from the largely Tea Party audience.

"That's a project you should pursue," Gingrich responded. He went on to say that with ongoing economic issues and other mismanagement he saw in the president's agenda, he had "enough issues to debate Obama about."

Pressure mounting for GOP caucus reconsideration

AUGUSTA, Maine — Pressure is on the Maine Republican Party to reconsider its weekend declaration that Mitt Romney won the state’s caucuses.

The Maine GOP announced Saturday that Romney narrowly edged Ron Paul, 39 percent to 36 percent, in a nonbinding presidential preference poll taken during the caucuses. The margin was fewer than 200 votes.

A number of communities were not included in that poll because they had not held their caucuses in time.

Graduating (with honors) from Harvard, but wouldn't be qualified to pick tomatoes or clean bathrooms? This "women" is certifiable (as are the mental midgets that listen to her). Wonder how many Harvard graduates (even without honors) are that under educated? Must be one fucking easy school to graduate from. Wonder where Oily Taint went to school? Maybe she did the whole mail degree Dentist/Real Estate/Law PHD (pretty huge doosh) route.

Perkins: The Left is Trying to Create a Theocracy

WTF?

To say that the Religious Right is apoplectic about the Obama administration's contraception mandate would be a bit of an understatement. It has seemingly been all that they have been capable of talking about for the last week and that trend continued today as Tim Wildom and Tony Perkins hosted Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) on this morning's edition of "Today's Issues."

Wildmon and Smith wondered how HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, or anyone other politician for that matter, could consider themselves to be Catholic if they support reproductive rights, while Perkins wondered how anyone who did so could even consider themselves to be a Christian.

The discussion eventually turned to President Obama and his citation of scripture in support of his political views, which Smith claimed was all part of a long-term effort by population control proponents to undermine Christianity by using Scriputure to promote evil, which prompted Perkins to responded by claiming that it is "the Left" that is out to create a theocracy:

Or maybe Breitbart, just a few years after leaving liberal-dom behind, still thinks of the Constitution as a “living document” that can mean whatever you want it to mean or whatever you need it to mean at a given time in history. (my emphasis)
Probably, but not certainly. Let's wait to see the break after March 6th, shall we?

Right now, Romney has 123 of 248 assigned delegates, or 50%-1. Depending on how things come out in Maine's kerfuffle, he may lose a handful to Ron Paul (currently holding 19). Arizona and Michigan add another 59 (of which Romney's looking at ~35 or so), and Washington adds 43 that Saturday for 350 delegates.

On super Tuesday 437 delegates get distributed, more than double what's been earned up to that point. And at this instant the two largest states, Georgia (76) and Ohio (66), both favor Santorum. So does the third largest (TN 58), while the fourth largest right now is just 'close' (VA, 43).

A strong showing by Santorum on March 6th will completely change the calculus. On the other hand, if Rick's just flavor of the week, he'll collapse on that day.

It's frankly too early to tell.

I think what may have happened is they realized that they couldn't govern with the agenda they ran on. Santorum has similar problems for Tennessee, and lacks full delegate slates in North Dakota, Ohio and Illinois.

His campaign probably never figured to get this far, and they're winging it - and hoping to cause enough of a problem to result in a floor fight, but each of these missed opportunities inures benefit to Romney, making the floor fight scenario even more remote.

Yeah, and adding to the confusion is that many states have shifted from winner take all to proportional states, so that if you amass enough delegates over time, you might have a chance even if you don't win all the states.

I agree with your earlier point though that Super Tuesday will help settle matters since the number of delegates at stake on that one date outweighs all those decided to that point.

Have them make clay tablets or papyrus while hugging a tree. The headlines would still be made.

From the NY Times:

Witnesses said the three men, all of whom appeared to be foreigners, fled a house in the Sukhumvit neighborhood of Bangkok after an explosion in the early afternoon tore off the roof of the house. Two of the men ran immediately from the house, witnesses said; one was later detained at the city’s main international airport. The third man emerged shortly after the first two; he seemed disoriented and his face and ears were bleeding, the witnesses said. As he tried to leave the area, he threw two explosive devices, one at a taxi and one at approaching police officers. The blast from the second device struck him, however, blowing off his legs and wounding several Thais.

I think we're seeing a long overdue moderation of conservatives. Glenn Beck is gone, Andrew Napalitano is gone, there seem to be fewer outrageous outrages and conspiracy theories circulating on wingnut blogs, the nomination is going to one of the most moderate candidates available. The damage done by the past few years of extremism has taken its toll but we might be seeing the beginning of a course correction.

When Fox gets rid of Sean Hannity, I might believe something is happening. He is just as bad as Beck and Napalitano as far as outrageous statements about President Obama. His goal is to stop Obama no matter what.

Also, they still have birther Donald Trump on Fox and Friends every Monday.

With all due respect, I'd rather see everyone's taxes (including mine) go up 1% across the board. Every bracket from 15% to 35% go up 1 point. We're all in this together, aren't we? And I'd also be for eliminating deductions. We'd close 20% of our budget gap if we got rid of the mortgage interest deduction. Let's start with that.

Don't forget, the payroll tax is, in theory "earmarked" for Social Security. By cutting funding for Social Security we're just going to have to take money from somewhere else to cover it.

Sorry but you are totally wrong. Raising taxes "across the board" will disproportionately harm the lowest income levels. We are not "all in this together" the same. You're taking away a tank of gas or a week's worth of groceries, what are you taking away from a 1%'er that they are even going to notice?
