For Valentine's Day, my wife wants me to help her level her character in the Star Wars MMO.

I have the perfect wife.

I bought my wife a box of 25 hand made chocolates and myself 500 rounds of ammo for my Mauser C96.

What? It works for us ;)

Leveling in that MMO isn't a problem. Standing around Imperial Fleet (or whatever the Republic equivalent is) trying to find anyone that's not a moron to group to do Flashpoints with before you get bored and just go outlevel them... that is the problem.

We decided that in lieu of presents or dinner out this year, we would have a light dinner and enjoy a monstrous dessert. Cheesecake with chocolate, to be exact.

My problem is this - how do I convince my wife that watching Jeremy Lin run the point for the Knicks constitutes a 'romantic evening?'

You level too fast in that game, imho. By the time I can craft something nice, I've outlevelled it.

That's my one major complaint. The level speed is so fast that if you do all the content on one of the longer quest planets like Taris, you outlevel everything that comes after it. I'm about to hit Belsavis and it's 41-44. I'm almost 44 now. =/

My other complaint is a lack of a difficulty slider. I got spoiled in City of Heroes with that, because my guild would get together and crank everything to the hardest setting, leading to maps being filled with tons of mobs, and stronger mobs at that. I'd love to be able to get through every map on a Heroic setting with harder mobs in place.

We've skipped the flashpoints for now, just hitting the regular missions and leveling up.

Erick Erickson:

More than a few of the twenty and thirty somethings who go to CPAC seem to treat it like an extension of their college days doing their best to hook up before passing out. It’s not the majority to be sure, but it is a noticeable minority.

I am not even sure that there is a solution to the problem. But we should not think it is anything but a problem. It is not every young man, but there are many. They risk dragging the whole affair down to some bawdy, rowdy distraction. They risk embarrassing themselves and the conservative movement. They risk the perception premised on their own actions that conservative men of a certain age think that good manners and decorum around women of the same age is unneeded or unwanted.

Tortured overused phrase of the day.

She became the first woman and the first African-American attorney general of California... Ms. Harris, 47, possessed an aura of glamour even when she entered the public eye in the mid-1990s, as a young prosecutor, a trustee of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the girlfriend of Willie Brown, soon to be mayor of San Francisco, on whom she was said to convey an air of gravitas. In part because of her heritage — she is the daughter of an Indian-American mother and a Jamaican-American father — she is often compared to President Obama.

(Though I'm the owner of two electric cars, I feel these subsidies are grossly unfair. Someone who dries his clothes on a line, takes the bus to work, and can take a 2 minute "Navy" shower might save more energy over the year than a typical electric car person, who by and large are "early adopter" types with disposable income. Yet he'll get nothing from the Government.)

I never play demos. The last demo I played was for Fallout. The original.

Hence why I'm downloading it now, so I can crank it up and go come Friday.

The 'Lovesong of the Selenologist' in there is great.

Indeed it is. There's some pretty creative writing in there. Enjoyable stuff.

Peeps! Happy V-Day. (Vagina) I saw the Vagina Monologues on 2/14 years ago and will never think of this day differently! Those who have seen the play will understand.

I had to deal with random bs on the phone today after work, and I said Happy Valentines day to each and every person I spoke with. Prob 6 different folks, one prob in Indonesia. They loved it. One lady said, why, you are the first person today to say that!

Pass the love.

I usually shy away from demos, but the game makers are getting craftier these days, including unlocks for downloadable gear and weapons in demos.

We'd almost have to if they were, y'know, compound.

That nic creeps me out a little. Always makes me think of militia members creeping around in the woods playing war games.
