Right Wing Jaw-Dropper: ‘Sex-Crazed Co-Eds Going Broke Buying Birth Control’

Women having sex drives right winger crazy (a short drive)

OK, we have a winner in today’s Wingnut Jaw-Dropper Sweepstakes, an article at religious right website cnsnews.com by Craig Bannister that reads like an exaggerated parody of right wing misogyny — but it’s not: Sex-Crazed Co-Eds Going Broke Buying Birth Control, Student Tells Pelosi Hearing Touting Freebie Mandate.

A Georgetown co-ed told Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s hearing that the women in her law school program are having so much sex that they’re going broke, so you and I should pay for their birth control.

Speaking at a hearing held by Pelosi to tout Pres. Obama’s mandate that virtually every health insurance plan cover the full cost of contraception and abortion-inducing products, Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke said that it’s too expensive to have sex in law school without mandated insurance coverage.

Apparently, four out of every ten co-eds are having so much sex that it’s hard to make ends meet if they have to pay for their own contraception, Fluke’s research shows.

Bannister seems to think that the more sex women have, the more birth control pills they need to take — and at his expense, dammit!

$3,000 for birth control in three years? That’s a thousand dollars a year of sex – and, she wants us to pay for it.

Yes, us. Where do you think the insurance companies forced to cover this cost get the money to pay for these co-eds to have sex? It comes from the health care insurance premiums you and I pay.

But, back to this woman’s complaint that she’s spending $3,000 for birth control during her time in college.

“For a lot of students, like me, who are on public interest scholarships, that’s practically an entire summer’s salary,” she complains.

So, she earns enough money in just one summer to pays for three full years of sex. And, yes, they are full years – since she and her co-ed classmates are having sex nearly three times a day for three years straight, apparently.

The rise of Rick Santorum seems to have opened the floodgates of right wing reactionary prudery, rushing back on a scale unseen since the 1950s.

I really thought this was a parody at first reading.

But American politics has become a parody of itself, especially on social issues.

7 jamesfirecat  Tue, Feb 28, 2012 1:47:54pm

Wait.. if they're on the pill, you take the pill everyday regardless of if you have sex or not.... HOW CAN HAVING MORE SEX COST MORE MONEY FOR BIRTH CONTROL? "The pill" is not like a condom where you need to take/use more of them as the amount of sex increases, right?

8 Coracle  Tue, Feb 28, 2012 1:49:19pm

I'd like to object to paying for, with my hard earned tax dollars, any insurance benefit for anyone else. You moral slimebuckets don't deserve a penny of my chaste money.

From the article he quoted:

“Just last week, a married female student told me that she had to stop using contraception because she and her husband just couldn’t fit it into their budget anymore. Women employed in low-wage jobs without contraceptive coverage face the same choice."

Sex is to be condoned only in marriage, and then ONLY for procreational, not recreational purposes. What is the argument here?

There was a lot of talk that the Tea Partiers were going to go all out in an effort to primary her. Snowe has been consistently Republican (although, obviously, not exclusively Republican) since day one; maybe she just didn't want to put up with all the horseshit she would have had to endure fighting a primary campaign where her "base" pretty much wants to tar and feather her.

The House Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing "Executive Overreach: The HHS Mandate Versus Religious Liberty." The tenor of the Republicans' statements and questioning is captured by Arizona's Rep. Trent Franks, who called the HHS regulation "not only a slap in the face to millions of Americans of faith, it is patently unconstitutional."

Following a public outcry, McDonnell revised the measure to exempt women from the more invasive procedure, but not before encountering the wit of comedian Jon Stewart, who characterized the bill as “a TSA pat-down inside their vagina.” McDonnell addressed the contradiction between supporting mandatory ultrasounds for women and opposing “invasive” TSA pat downs during a radio interview this morning on WTOP and claimed that there is no comparison between the legislation and the enhanced security procedures:

MCDONNELL: There are things that are required in the interest of public safety, like TSA procedures. There are ways to accomplish the same result without an invasive patdown. [...]

I believe this is something that respects the dignity of women by making sure they have necessary information.

And while McDonnell has regularly attacked President Obama’s health care reform plan as an unfunded mandate, he brushed off concerns that the ultrasound bill would create an unfunded mandate for women. He described the ultrasound as a necessary mandate that provides women with more information before having an abortion. “If there are legitimate mandates for health and safety, obviously I’m for those,” he explained.

The ultrasound bill passed the Senate earlier this afternoon and now heads to McDonnell for his signature.

Fucker.

Is that the one where they order pizza and then watch Serenity?

You just gave me a great idea for a MST3K spinoff.

Issa getting all theological with Lori, and asks permission to put a papal document in the record.

@sarahposner
Humanae Vitae #15. That's what Issa wants to put in the record.

No we don't.

Yes we do, or at least I do...

I have over seventy stories published online between the Kristen archives and TEMCSA under 4 different author names. Yes I do err...cheat and use "co-ed" since it is a way of saying "nubile, attractive, vivacious, young college student" with only one word if you use it correctly after a little bit of groundwork has been laid in the previous paragraphs. :p

I asked her to meet me at Campus Corner in the Morning and go to play Golf at OU..Golf is awesome...You get to spend hours outside having fun and talking. Golf is so much fun it can be bonding by the end of the day..I mean a tall athletic gal that loves golf? I'm ready to get married..LOL
We have a lot of similar interests...you know music, dancing, sports, food, walks on Beaches..You know all that sh*t.
Can you imagine waking up on a Saturday Morning having a cup of joe and asking your girlfriend what do you want to do today?
And she says let's go play golf..Really? You know baby I love you..I really really love you! Hell..I'll even wear that stupid sweater you bought me..Want a refill? You know I love you right?
LOL

It is simply amazing how they can work up an "outrageous outrage" that simultaneously requires them to ignore facts that you'd think even the dumbest of them already know. Now they have gone from lies leading the ignorant into outrage to lies leading willing conspirators into feigned outrage about things they already know aren't true.

You go GOP, that sounds like a perfectly sustainable route to an election majority to me...

If it is like grease then the candy coated hot virgin will suddenly appear wearing skin tight satin pants and signing about how "she needs a man and her heart is set on you...."

Honestly, the message of "Grease" was how Sandra D. finally accepted that she needed to give up that whole "pure and virgin" thing and instead become a willing and ready hottie in order to win over Danny. Not exactly the message you want sent to your kids from a movie necessarily.

Still if your new flame appeared at the golf course in skin tight satin and then started singing about "your the one that I want..." more power to you Hoopster!

re: #105 ausador

What I meant about Grease was that she is so dang classy..I may be a little more Danny that I want her to know about..I don't care about the Satin Hot pants..I'm sure her in golfing shorts will do just fine..
