Live Video: Sheriff Arpaio’s Ridiculous Birther Press Conference

Idiotfest in Arizona
Wingnuts • Views: 33,280

Arizona’s far right Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now holding a press conference to announce the findings in his utterly stupid investigation into the dreaded birth certificate of Barack Obama. Here’s the live video feed, so we can all make fun of it.

Right now, there’s a moron explaining that the “optimization” and “layers” and “white halos” in the scanned document prove it’s a sinister forgery by the Impersonator in Chief.

[Surreal crypto-racist event now finished, video removed.]

What. The. Fuck.

Rape’s not so bad when the kid likes it

Last week, in England, two 21-year-old men were found guilty of raping an 11-year-old girl and were sentenced to just under 3 1/2 years for the crime. The judge thought that the crime was bad, but video footage (found on one of the defendant’s phones) showed that she may have enjoyed the rape and, besides, she totally looked 14.

Sentencing the pair, who claimed the young girl looked at least 14, Judge David Farrell QC reportedly told Luton Crown Court there were exceptional factors in the “abhorrent” case that led him to reduce the sentence.

Despite her age it is accepted she was a willing participant, but the law is there to protect young girls from this type of behaviour and to protect them from themselves,” he said.

50 JamesWI  Thu, Mar 1, 2012 12:42:06pm

LOL Freepers

I don't think the Sheriff found out anything we already didn't know. We already know about the BC forgery and it didn't matter. We already know that NBC means BOTH parents must be American, and that doesn't seem to matter. We already know he has a Connecticut SS number, and that doesn't seem to matter. We know that his aunt and other relatives are illegal aliens living here with stolen SS numbers, and that doesn't seem to peak anyone's interest.

Having Sheriff Arpaio state the obvious will most likely draw a yawn from the MSM.

Now if Arpaio solved some of the Rev Wright's murders of homosexuals in Chicago, that might make news. How embarrassing to Chitown cops it must be to have all those murders of acquaintances of Obama in his own church and they can't find one clue to solve ANY of them.

She made an overseas trip four days after giving birth? From Kenya to Hawaii? That's like--days--on a 1960's plane--immediately after birth.

Repost from my page:

I fully expect a lame re-hash of everything previously said, with no additional evidence.

I actually mentally walked through what it would take to fake the microfilmed-newspaper-birth-announcements in hundreds of libraries (public libraries and universities.)

Those microfilms were undoubtedly put together by a service, rather than each library individually. If this is the case, you need an inside man at the company, because the librarians do NOT let you leave with those microfilms. You'd have to create an authentic mock-up with just the one change, then copy that several hundred times, then send operatives to each of those libraries to make the swap.

If the libraries made the microfilms individually, it would be impossible. You can't take the microfilms out to make the copy.

I was.

And isn't it quaint how they think that their stern, respectable image they're trying to project constantly talking up "journalistic integrity", calling themselves "reporters", trumpeting the fact that this whole thing is now totally a relevant issue because a "law enforcement" agency is involved -= I mean, all this is a classic, very typical representation of just how little they think of the intelligence of Americans.
Certainly they are absolutely correct when it comes to people who support Joe Arpaio.
But in the real world, this truly bizarre performance will go down as one of two things:L a comedy spectacle, or brilliant performance art.
And again: just more confirmation that they think their base will believe ANYTHING they say.

A) The birthers continued insistence the Obama birth certificate is a fake, despite copious amounts of evidence to the contrary.

AND

B) Mary Mapes' continued insistence that the Killian memos are possibly authentic, despite copious amounts of evidence to the contrary.

Check out the Wikipedia entry for "Killian documents controversy"

Summary: In 2005 CBS reporter Mary Mapes and Anchor Dan Rather were involved in a scandal over memos purportedly written by George W. Bush's commander in the Texas Air National Guard, Pat Killian.

As soon as the story broke, many blogs and news organizations began to question to the authenticity of the memos. LGF played a large role in the eventual fall of Dan Rather and Mary Mapes.

The site has shifted politics considerably since then, so I'm not sure how many Lizards are still around from that time period.

I can assure you that any "white halos" in a JPEG compressed document that contain scanned text with hard edges are a result of the JPEG compression process, and not any grand conspiracy.

There's an artifact in signal theory called "ringing" which occurs whenever there's a low-pass filter applied to a signal. One of the key elements in JPEG compression is using fewer bits to represent higher-frequency information. This filtering results in the halos around hard edges.

[Link: en.wikipedia.org...]

In hilarious unrelated news...

Detroit Free Press

Michigan’s two at-large delegates to the Republican National convention will be awarded to Michigan native Mitt Romney, following a vote last night by the state party’s credentials’ committee.

The vote came despite the party’s rules that the two at-large delegates are supposed to be awarded on a proportional basis based on the statewide popular vote. Romney won the statewide vote by a 41% to 38% margin over former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Someone sounds desperate.

McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh — he's an Arab. He's not — " before McCain retook the microphone and replied:

"No, ma'am. He's a decent family man [and] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]."

It seemed to me that even McCain started to feel bad about fueling this fire, and cut this woman off. He said this after being silent for a few minutes of people saying "He's an ARAB" (!) etc.

Republican Commits Voter Fraud By Registering Dog As A Democrat

A Republican man in New Mexico wanted to show how easy he thought it was to commit voter fraud. So the Albuquerque man did just that: committed voter registration fraud by registering his dog, Buddy, to vote.

Local news station KOB Eyewitness News 4 in New Mexico reported on the man’s stunt this week.

“They should verify. Somebody should have verified this information and somebody should have come out and took a look at exactly who it was,” the unidentified man told the news station. “But I made up a birth date, and I made up a social security number and I had a voter registration card in my hand for Buddy two weeks later.”

The news station interviewed the man on camera but granted the dog owner anonymity, and faded out any personal information, though it’s wasn’t clear why.

Danielle Todesco, the reporter who put the piece together, said in an email to TPM that she discussed the decision to grant the man anonymity with her news director.

Sandra Fluke Responds To Limbaugh: ‘This language is an attack on all women’

We are fortunate to live in a democracy where everyone is entitled to their own opinions regarding legitimate policy differences. Unfortunately, numerous commentators have gone far beyond the acceptable bounds of civil discourse.

No woman deserves to be disrespected in this manner. This language is an attack on all women, and has been used throughout history to silence our voices.

The millions of American women who have and will continue to speak out in support of women’s health care and access to contraception prove that we will not be silenced.

Confirmation:
[Link: www.cbsnews.com...]

Mike Zullo, the lead investigator for Arpaio, on Thursday presented a series of videos that he said showed that the president's documents were likely forgeries. He suggested the investigation showed that Mr. Obama's long-form birth certificate, which was released electronically, "never existed in paper form," and said the evidence had led him to recommend to Arpaio "a full-blown criminal investigation."

Zullo also said his team came to the conclusion that the Hawaii Department of Health and Hawaiian officials "may have intentionally obscured 1961 birth records and procedures" to keep them from being adequately examined.

Information sharing is always a double edged sword. A company isn't going to share information that makes them look bad with a rival in the name of security. You actually need an impartial regulatory service to help ensure that necessary information is relayed and acted upon while protecting the contributors.

I don't think Romney actually understands what the word 'poor' means.

He just doesn't get the fact that there are people out there who lack money.

He pretends everyone's okay.

New Romney Plan Lowers Taxes Further On Rich, Raises On Poor

Lowers on the rich, raises on the poor, and (surprise, surprise) leaves a big gaping hole in revenue.

Man's about as clueless as Paul Ryan.

I happen to be in Maricopa County right now. Do you know who their Congressperson is? The son of Dan Quayle.

In his world an additional $300k++ income in a year is a mere pittance barely worth mentioning. I'd say "clueless" about the realities for most Americans would be putting it quite mildly.

Well, he's right. The rules are gettin' rogered.

We watched most of that investigation here in our office; most of the work we do involves image and video processing, as well as large image and media databases, and we have deep experience in this area.

I wouldn't trust any law enforcement agency (or a jury for that matter) with deciding if an document is real or not. (which, of course, is scary)

Their analysis was pure nonsense.

So, what exactly happened at the conference the Most Crooked Sheriff in the West had? I was in class.

Basically, one long replay of every "discovery" we've heard up to date, followed by Sheriff Joe telling a bunch of reporters who sounded like they were barely holding back laughter why they should give any more of a damn about this than any other birther. Also, he's calling Obama's presidency illegitimate, but not accusing him of anything. And repeatedly stressed that none of the county's money was spent on this witch hunt.

Obama's doing exactly what he should do in this situation: Absolutely nothing. Sheriff Joe's demanding attention and there's no reason that Obama should give him even the time of day.

There is a Federal Investigation on Arpaio. Get some charges out of it.

Suggesting Obama influence an ongoing investigation is a really bad idea.

He's going to make that accusation anyway, so why facilitate him? Better to let the DoJ do its job and watch as he voluntarily tightens the noose around his neck. He just accomplished some of that last week, all but admitting that there are problems within his offices before launching into a demand that the DoJ release the dirt it has on him.

That's true. I want to see that idiot out of office though. And those senile idiots in Phoenix will keep voting him in.

Actually, they may have a slight problem doing that.

"According to the Ninth Circuit, Cebull initiated the inquiry. Additionally, Cebull told Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT) that he will formally apologize to the president."

He is still a dick.

That which we call a birther, by any other name, would still be an irrational, TFH-wearing bigot living in a state of denial.

Would not be surprised to learn that mental health professionals decide to categorize birtherism as yet another form of OCD.
